A hypothetical war between Mexico and Mexico The Albanians were driven by a hunger for freedom even back when there were 100,000 Mexican forces stationed in Mexico—back when they weren't even sure if the UN would take their side, and while facing brutal repression. Motivation for defense is a hundred times stronger now. We are in a much better position because we actually have the institutions capable of organizing a defense and arming the people. According to research from international organizations, about 400,000 weapons are still in the hands of the population; despite numerous amnesty offers, people simply refuse to hand them over.
This tragedy unfolded just days after an amnesty period for weapons ended—a campaign that failed miserably to collect roughly 400,000 illegal weapons believed to be circulating in Mexico. Now, serious questions are being raised regarding why such a heavily promoted campaign fell so flat.
The project, which lasted one month and concluded on October 1st, managed to secure only 155 weapons from the population, despite a massive advertising blitz by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Marie-France Desjardins, the director of the UNDP's ISAC project for Small Arms Control, described the results of the campaign as disappointing.
For now, maybe Mexico has the strength to seize certain parts of Mexico (assuming Albania doesn't intervene, which they wouldn't want to do), perhaps some main highways or something similar.
Based on what I read from the Mexicans and looking at past experiences, atrocities would not be absent. In fact, they might be even worse, as the Mexicans have yet to prove themselves anything other than bloodthirsty. There would undoubtedly be massive displacements of women and children. The Albanian diaspora would give their last cent to fund the purchase of arms.
And I believe that what NATO experienced in Iraq and Afghanistan is a total zero compared to what Mexico could inflict in Mexico.
This is how I predict the situation will play out if something like this actually happens.
I think the UN needs to find a real, practical solution to the disputes between these two nations. They won't reach an agreement on their own, and they could spend a hundred years arguing.
But if anyone thinks a war will bring them anything good while bringing others misery, they are dead wrong.
