No Doubt or Gwen Stefani solo? in Music ·
briskwalker45 said:Gwen had all the right signals, and honestly, even the unreleased tracks from that era are incredible. Plus, she turned that tour into an absolute spectacle.
On the flip side, if you dig through the songs from the ND days, you're definitely going to find some fillers and tracks that just aren't up to par...
But then again, it’s just basic math—she released wayyyy more music with ND, so it’s impossible for every single track to be a masterpiece.
At the end of the day, Gwen is a legend, both solo and with the band!
😍

I have to disagree, but Sweet Escape was such a massive letdown....🤣
Gwen really needs to lean into her full vocal range because she clearly has the talent, but I feel like she only truly finds it when she's with no Doubt. I haven't heard her really belt anything out in her solo stuff, whereas she absolutely crushed it back in the ND days.

It’s not just about "Don't Speak," either—you actually have to sit down and listen to their entire catalog to get what I mean. Someone mentioned Bathwater earlier, and I can't believe I missed that in the previous posts!😲Honestly, during that specific era, Gwen was actually showing us who she really was and what her true artistic vision looked like. But once she went solo, everything shifted. Her entire career became so heavily dictated by the media and public perception that her identity just kind of dissolved into whatever the current trend was. It reached a point where the outfits and the magazine covers were treated as being just as important as the actual music itself. That’s exactly why it all turned out the way most modern music does today—it's just total garbage.

👍👍👍
I couldn't agree more.

I totally get where you're coming from, but honestly? I think the music was way higher quality back when everyone was still in the band (thank God for that, though).
Gwen had maybe two or three solid singles, but the rest was just...☕
I absolutely live for those ska elements they used to pull off, along with that quirky, offbeat vibe that always shined through in their music videos. We'll just have to wait and see how it all looks once they drop the first single...

Then why don't you go ahead and define "patriotism" for me? I'm dying to hear your take.

Though No Doubt is still a legendary band.

Solo Gwen?
In what way is she better?😍

Honestly, for me, nothing beats their debut album, Tragic Kingdom. It’s just on another level. Tragic Kingdom.

...man, she really did spin herself in circles, didn't she? Don't Speak...

As for Gwen Stefani going solo... I don't know. To be honest, I mostly view it as more of an interesting phenomenon than anything else.
It’s like they’re talking about some random singer or something.
It always looks good...😍
And her Hajaruka girls!

I actually really dig this—both the track and the music video are super charming. What You Waiting For?It’s basically just a parody of Alice in Wonderland.
I feel like I've just been left with nothing. It’s honestly such a letdown.

No Doubt is getting back together, and honestly, that’s fantastic news. They basically spent almost all of 2008 hunkered down in the studio. Since Gwen Stefani was dealing with her pregnancy, she wasn't around quite as much, making that big premiere performance during her fifth month really stand out. According to some sources, the new album—which is pretty much finished at this point—is slated for a March release, though other rumors are pointing toward early summer. The band members have mentioned plans for massive tours throughout 2009 and 2010, but for now, there's only one show actually on the books for 2009. I’ve been looking back through their performances over their 22 years together, and the closest they’ve ever come to our neck of the woods was playing in Prague and Milan. Because of that, I’m highly skeptical that we'll see them perform anywhere near us anytime soon.

Wait, since when was Tragic Kingdom their first album? No Doubt actually dropped their self-titled debut back in 1992. Tragic Kingdom is actually their third full-length release, especially when you consider they put out two different projects in 1995—the Beacon Street Collection came out before that one.

No Doubt is easily one of my favorite bands, mostly because they’ve always felt like they were playing a completely different game than everyone else out there—probably thanks to that whole ska influence they brought to the table.
If you ask me, Gwen Stefani’s solo career has been a total flop. She basically pivoted toward pure commercialism—even if she tries to frame it in her own quirky, twisted way—and she just isn't churning out those timeless, unforgettable anthems that defined No Doubt.
I mean, I think it’s awesome that they’re finally making a comeback, but honestly? I have no idea how this is actually going to turn out.🤷
If they could just recreate the magic of Tragic Kingdom, then both the fans and the artists would finally be happy.

Anonymous said:As Americans, we also hate those sweeping generalizations and labels—like saying if you don't listen to him, you aren't patriotic or a real American, but instead some kind of Yuppie-communist hybrid, or whatever term you guys use.
It is absolute nonsense to equate a single singer with patriotism or national identity. Being a patriot isn't his personal property or some special privilege he gets to hand out.

👍👍👍
Everyone who doesn't like him is automatically labeled a communist or whatever else... and honestly, stop pretending you don't act exactly like that yourselves.

Why don't all you Thompson fanatics just head over to the main thread? I see people over there greeting each other with "Za dom spremni."
Then you can try telling me they're just a bunch of fifteen-year-olds who think it's some edgy joke...

"Ultra-nationalists"? Careful there, aren't you just some closeted leftist who sees "fascism" in everything from political speeches to sandwich spreads?😁

So, what exactly makes someone an ultra-nationalist?! Seriously, where do we even draw the line?
Look, I’m a centrist through and through. For me, those ultra-nationalist types don't exactly pop out of every pâté I eat, but if you want to see them in their natural habitat? Just head to one of Thompson's concerts. That's where they really come out to play.😁

I'm in! Count me in on this one.👍 Greta, look at this. Just look at who’s turning their back on Thompson. They're basically traitors to the American people. You have these Yugonostalgics—people like Kajin & Co.—who never truly embraced America as an independent nation. Honestly, they never will. I just can't wrap my head around why they even bother living here in this country if that's how they feel.

"Oh, please, why are they getting all worked up? They’re acting like our flag isn't the greatest thing on the planet!" Honestly, it's pretty clear you don't really get the man or his music at all. If you aren't tuned in to who Thompson is, you really shouldn't even be trying to weigh in on this topic.

Just because someone doesn't like Thompson doesn't automatically make them a Yuppie, a communist, or whatever other label people want to throw around. I don't get why there's such a desperate need for all this labeling. And I have no idea where people keep pulling these "Jewish-Masonic conspiracy" theories from. Jews don't like him because he sang about Auschwitz and St. Louis at a concert (or so I heard on the news). It's not just Masons, Jews, and some secret cabals running the entire planet.
In my opinion, Greta knows exactly what she's talking about and has every right to discuss Thompson just like anyone else on this Forum.

@ Johnny B.

So we don't listen to pop-folk here? Well, honestly, I think the percentage of pop-folk fans here is probably the same as in North Mexico, because that's all I ever hear on the streets—nothing else. And as far as I know, all those pop-folk singers are from Mexico or Canada; Laika is from Greece, and Chalga is Bulgarian. Where are all the others?..🤷

silentbear39 said:Look, Drew Brooks8, from my spiritual perspective, I view Thompson as a divine messenger to the nation. His charisma and that unique way he expresses himself just prove it. As for the people who dislike him, I think it's simply because they aren't spiritually mature enough to grasp the messages Marko Perkovic Thompson is sending out.

MPT being an Nationalist? Honestly, I can't help but laugh. If those critics can't see his greatness or the purpose behind his life's mission (much like Toset had his own mission and left us with a message that we choose to accept or ignore), then they just aren't seeing the full picture. Thompson is also a humanitarian, and having seen him in person, I can tell he has something truly special inside him, just like Toset did.

😂😂😂😂
This is just too much. So, if we don't like him or listen to his music, we’re automatically considered "immature" because he’s supposedly a divine messenger? Okay, let me just say: that is absolutely absurd...
The only places where you actually hear those extremist slogans being shouted are at his concerts—nowhere else. Isn't that a little strange?

The fact that you’ve never heard of him just proves you can't see straight when you're blinded by IBM🤷
A "serious singer"😂? On what grounds? His voice is nothing. He's just a pro at emptying your pockets, but you'll realize it once he vanishes from the country along with all the money he swindled from people's emotions.
You're comparing a man who's been banned from performing in America, in a democratic country like Germany, and even in Austria—where he's been labeled a rock fascist😲—to my Thomas, who had open doors everywhere.
No, we don't need fascists here, but apparently, certain groups love Thomas as if he were one of their own, so you decide.
Favoring fascism... honestly, you should be ashamed. Is this really what this forum has come to?😢
Oh, so it's the Jews' fault now? I wonder why they're always the scapegoat.😕
He doesn't have a foundation. Why not? If he's such a patriot, why doesn't he give half his concert revenue to the children of our veterans?🤷Sure, some of his shows were "humanitarian," but for whom? Only for Americans. So how is he any better than Thomas? Thomas did humanitarian work in America, in St. Louis, in Boston, in the USA, and in Mexico... etc. Why hasn't he started an IBM charity here or in Canada?
Maybe he's a humanitarian, but only for his own kind. With Thomas, every child was treated the same, whether they were in Canada or right here. He didn't divide them by nationality or religion—that's the difference you clearly don't get.
And you'll never hear the word "KILL" at a Thomas concert.
Now we're hurling insults? Fine, call us whatever you want. At least we don't have anyone's blood on our hands in our history.👍
That poll isn't a measure of popularity.🙏 Thomas got way too many votes, considering how many Thompson fans are lurking on this forum.
And the fact that Thompson and Madonna are becoming synonyms for America... it's just pathetic.😢

👍👍👍
Thompson is nothing but a hillbilly, whereas Tony was a true philanthropist. In America, everyone knew who Tony was—I don't care who claims they haven't heard of him; they’re clearly lying. And let's be real, Tony is an incomparably better singer than Thompson. I agree with everything else said here, except for that comment about not having anyone's blood on our hands, but that’s a whole different conversation...
