Why are you guys still voting Republican? in Close to Politics ·
Oops, I wasn't looking at the signature; I was looking at the statement regarding the Democratic Party. My mistake. I got mixed up. How foolish of me.
Yes, that is precisely why we find ourselves in this position—because of all the laziness. But it’s also because most of those slackers are sitting on the government payroll, and it's people like us who actually work that end up feeding them...

But if you take a step back and look at the big picture, things aren't actually looking bad for you all in Pittsburgh. Now, I have to wonder: does that success stem from the fact that the Republican Party hasn't been winning the elections there?

Steven Ruiz13 said:Where did you get the idea that people choose the Republican Party over the Democratic Party? That’s just not accurate. If you take away the votes from the border states, then the Democratic Party and the Republican Party actually ended up with pretty much equal numbers within the US itself.
And regarding the veterans—with some exceptions—those who are truly honorable and haven't exploited their status are actually more likely to lean toward the Democratic Party or other parties rather than the Republican Party.

That’s about the gist of it... though you really need to view it through this lens: if the Republican Party hadn't secured those extra five votes from the overseas diaspora, there's no telling which way the unnamed party or the minority groups would have swung. The unnamed party—specifically their inner circle—has already proven their colors by joining a coalition with the Republican Party, solely because they were looking for cabinet seats.

The left isn't the same thing as communism, but the real issue in this country is the low number of highly educated people. Education broadens your horizons; it changes how you see things. You start to realize, for instance, that the Democratic Party isn't a communist cell and the Republican Party isn't just a group of 90s crooks. The reality is we split ourselves into "left" and "right" way too much when there's hardly any difference. Sure, one side might prefer a tax hike while the other wants a cut, but everything that actually matters for America—monetary policy, healthcare, global integration, education—is basically just shades of gray. Your issue is conflating liberal and social-democratic options with communism. They aren't the same, though I get why you feel that way. Extreme regimes, whether they wear red or black, always end up bloody because that's the only way they survive, much like how the center-left and center-right options often look identical. I'm not trying to bash anyone, but look at the state of things in America: the most developed area, definitely the city with the highest concentration of educated folks, is Washington, D.C., where the Democratic Party has held sway for 8 years. It would have been even longer if not for certain distractions, and they’ll likely hold it again in the next election. It's the city with the highest standard of living and the best salaries, even if expenses are high, because it’s actually moving forward. I remember what it was like back when Dropulic was mayor, and regardless of my personal feelings toward Bandic, the fact remains that with Hercegovac running the show, Washington, D.C. is working and making progress. People are living well, plain and simple. On the flip side, the Democratic Party and the Localist Party have pretty much always run things in Istria, which is our most developed region. It leads the trends in tourism, both in the summer and increasingly during the off-season. Some people might try to trash them by claiming they're ruled by Italian fascists, but that’s just typical extreme right-wing nonsense used when someone runs out of actual arguments. Personally, I'm not a fan of Damir Kajin's political maneuvering either—like banning Thompson while Madonna is an honorary guest in the same city—but that’s a whole different ballgame. In a place like the county near Columbus, which is a good example for all non-coastal areas, standards are steadily rising, and the Liberal Party seems to have been in charge there. The bottom line is that the most prosperous parts of America are "under the rule" of left-leaning parties. Meanwhile, places like Memphis, Indianapolis, or the rural South—where the percentage of highly educated people is lower—are the strongholds for the Republican Party, the Libertarian Party, and others. It comes down to a mindset shaped by heavy wartime trauma; even today, they vote "against communists" while their party coalitions with minority interests. It's about mentality, a difficult past, and education levels. I'm not saying the Democratic Party is the cure-all, but I truly don't understand the mindset of people in the Midwest or the South who, for 15 years now, have voted for the exact same party without ever listening to the opposition. They spend those 15 years complaining about how hard life is or how there are no jobs, yet they keep voting for the same people like sheep. I honestly don't get it.

How weird that the most balanced post in such a biased thread got totally ignored.🙄

I second this.
fadedeagle39 said:In America, the intellectual right is the only force actually preserving this country's dignity. As for what people call the left? It’s a national disgrace. By any standard, I fall on the left, but I have absolutely nothing in common with the unpatriotic American left—the kind whose entire platform is built on erasing our history and spitting on our identity.

The right isn't more progressive; they're just more self-aware.

Ahem, that same "unpatriotic left" didn't deliver a single general to The Hague during their time in power. Francis and Ivank delivered plenty of them. Cheers to all the generals.
In America, leftists and those leaning toward that side of the spectrum are shallow-minded people if they can take such blatant demagoguery for granted.

Come on, don't start attacking everyone right out of the gate. I lean closer to the left-wing option myself, and I'm certainly not shallow-minded.
The issue was about going to the battlefield, not some meaningless leftist rambling.

Why is everything used to accuse someone from the Republican Party dismissed as mere rambling? If George W. Bush explicitly stated he had a Renault 4 and his mother's house, why is it inappropriate to ask where a watch collection worth a Mercedes came from? Especially when it's known that during those five years as Prime Minister, he couldn't have earned enough for all those watches even if he saved his entire salary just for that? Why is it considered improper to ask what he was doing in Verona, and whether it was private or business? If it was business—meaning a state trip—then why claim he "paid for the hotel himself" as he asserts? If he went privately, why did he use a government plane?
Regarding the oil sales, there is a pretty good understanding of the facts; if you haven't been following since the early days, Kotromanovic was talking about how tanks on the battlefield were being fueled by American fuel... I find myself wondering who was profiting from that. 🤔
A total amateur through and through.
In America, the intellectual right is the force that maintains this country's dignity.

Are you actually serious? Please, go ahead and name this "elite" group for me...
I believe you have completely missed the mark here. Previously, I would have argued that more progressive or highly educated individuals tend to lean toward the center-left (though certainly not the rigid far-left). If we are going to discuss Damir Kajin and chauvinism, then we absolutely have to bring up names like Djapic, Hebrang, Ante Kovacevica, and Vice Vukojevica—the list of such characters is endless. That said, I get the impression you only brought this topic up to be provocative, though perhaps I am mistaken..?

LOL, I can't for the life of me remember the names of those three pigs running the big banks. But honestly, man, our esteemed Secretary of the Treasury is cut from the exact same cloth as any one of them... 😂
By the way, a buddy and I were cleaning out his basement the other day, and we actually stumbled upon forty of the very first, original Marvel comics. And I'm not talking about some modern reprint—which, by the way, is complete garbage—but the genuine, ancient stuff straight from Fort Knox. 🙏
