Down syndrome in Health ·
Anonymous said:Hi everyone!
I was wondering if anyone with personal experience could help me out. I just had my nuchal translucency scan today, and at only 13 weeks pregnant, it measured 5 mm. I think I read somewhere that this measurement can sometimes return to a normal range during the second trimester. What are the actual odds regarding a Darwinian diagnosis? Has anyone else gone through something similar?

There is actually a huge thread dedicated to Down syndrome over on the Parenting & Kids subforum
I really think you'll find more specific answers to all your questions over there!

Oh my, 🙄

I moved your post just like I said I would,
and honestly, I'll probably have to redo it all again soon since these two posts got split up.

It feels like trying to talk to a brick wall sometimes!
There's really no point in arguing, so
I think it's time for me to take a little break.

I’m just here to be the life of this medical thread!

Ugh, my ovary—the one they operated on yesterday—is killing me! 😠

It's definitely throwing some major issues my way.

I’m not sure if swearing is allowed in a medical discussion... but seriously, honey, just forget about it!
That's my go-to advice for any kind of pain, 😬
whether it's mental or physical.

So, I guess I'm totally invisible here?
Who’s to blame for this mess?👎

Oh, don't you worry!
Every single thing you say is safely recorded 😍
just look right here

And that's exactly how these next two posts are going to go too!😉

Well now....... 😈
I’m thinking about suggesting the entire government switch over to a UN diet.
I mean, everyone could easily drop a few pounds between Monday and Friday if they tried! 🙂

No Schnapija for us until summer!
Now everyone is just wearing pink flamingos 😁

Just two more posts until we see if this whole thing turns out to be a total scam! 😁 😁 😁
Rachel Brooks63 said:Well, my fellow health enthusiasts, after a long year of working 😍 alongside all of you, it’s finally time for me to make my final "moderatorski" move on this subforum. I want to officially welcome our new health mods, jadesailor14 and Sam Hall15!

Like I mentioned before,
you were such an amazing moderator—exactly the kind of leader I love to see.
So smart, fair, and tough when it counts!😘
I'm honestly sad to see you go, but I totally get it; you've gotta move on from a job like this eventually.

Welcome to the team, guys!🎉

Rachel Brooks63 said:A health moderator should—and honestly, needs to—speak the truth and call out any mistakes members make, regardless of whether they're part of the staff or just regular folks. 😉

Spot on!
It’s not just the moderators, either; any member should feel free to jump in if they spot something nonsensical. Health is way too serious to play games with.
The original post was definitely meant to be taken with a grain of salt! 😉

The UN diet
just trolling at this point
thanks again! 😬

besides, if my memory isn't failing me, Rachel Brooks63 has been stuck in storage for ages
so she can finally come out and tell us the hard truth 😁
Opening a minor's checking and savings account in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Kimberly Nguyen said:Look, you can actually open either type of account if you get written consent from one of your parents. But here’s the kicker: since the funds technically belong to them, you won't have full control over the cash—your parents will be the ones calling the shots on the balance...
It’ll probably run you about $5 a year in fees, if I had to guess.

That being said, some banks offer specific accounts designed for minors under 18 where you actually *do* get to manage your own money without asking permission for every little thing... honestly, I have no clue what the exact maintenance fees are for those specific setups.

With Chase or Wells Fargo, you'll need to head down to a branch with one of your parents or a guardian. You'll also need to bring along proof of guardianship, like a birth certificate or legal ID.
Both you and your parent have to sign all the paperwork to get the account set up.
As for the cash, usually only the parent can withdraw it—at least that's how it worked last year, though they might have updated their policies lately!
The fees are monthly, and by the end of the year, they can really add up to more than $10 at a place like Wells Fargo.

Neurological exam in Health ·
Sam Hall15 said:It’s crazy how casually everyone talks about money... I mean, we aren't talking about billions here, but when you consider that all of this can be covered by your insurance at the hospital for free... God help us 😁
As for the ER (assuming we're talking about an urgent care clinic): there isn't much more they could actually do for you. Personally, when I'm on call in the ER, I perform a clinical neurological exam to try and diagnose whatever I can through physical assessment—things like vertigo that don't necessarily require a specialist. But honestly, from what I know, these clinics just don't have the diagnostic tools they need, so you can't really expect much more from them. That's just the way the American healthcare system works. Though, I'll admit, you find all sorts of doctors in the ER because medical school doesn't teach us anything about emergency medicine. You either educate yourself if you're interested in ER work, or you get thrown into the deep end without warning 😁

It’s true, though our waiting lists can be a real nightmare😬
plus, they love to give you the runaround about which hospital you should go to.
If you have the cash, it definitely makes things easier to just handle everything yourself.
Honestly, Thomas Thomas82, I don't know why you always try to simplify neurological exams down to just a quick chat and $167, it ends up costing more than five years worth of sneakers!😁

The quickest way to get into neurology is actually pretty simple: just book an appointment with one of the doctors who runs a private practice out of the hospital itself.
You pay them a consultation fee—maybe $300-$$167—and then they take care of organizing all your CT scans, MRIs, and other little things through insurance if they're necessary.😬

Angela Wright said:🙄Who needs Google when I've got you?
Besides, why should I be expected to know the exact wording... I'm hardly an expert on anything on this forum!

Why the defensive attitude all of a sudden?

You messed up, you apologized, and honestly, that’s being fair enough.
If people want to poke a little fun at you now, well, that's just how humans work! 😁

Angela Wright said:Look, you don't even know what I'm actually up to myself!

Exactly!
That’s why I wouldn't even envy you—that would just be silly, right?
Plus, if you go back and read the post again, you'll see I was just talking about meetings and deadlines in general.
And you know, sweetie, there are people out there working 16-hour days just to hit their targets and prep for presentations, only getting one or two days off a month
if they've really earned it.
On top of all that, everyone has life stuff to deal with outside of the office.

Just a friendly bit of advice: try not to be so hard on yourself or get caught up in envying others.
You never truly know what kind of personal struggles someone is dealing with behind closed doors.😉

Angela Wright said:what do you mean by that?😕
Well, that was certainly a polite and thoughtful response!

Man, what is going on today? I honestly feel like I've stepped into a parallel universe!🙂

Wait, so you actually know my job, where I work, how I work, and my entire schedule?
Are you just jealous?
Do you really think you know everything about me?
Is this pure jealousy?
Because you know life is treating me absolutely wonderful right now?
🤣 🤣 🤣

Sadly, there’s no sequel coming, so you might as well get back to your diet comfortably😛 .

Just admit to yourself that you have those "know-it-all" moments sometimes😉
where you aren't actually right😉 😉 😉

The diet😕
Wait, what? Why?
Getting all mixed up, are we?😬
