rustymarlin39 said:What does that actually mean? (Sorry if I’m totally out of the loop here!) Is an 8.7 better than an 8.3? 😕

It’s not really about "better," it’s just more about finding what fits you perfectly!

Honestly, if I went to my eye doctor, they’d tell me I shouldn't wear soft lenses in my left eye at all, yet that's the one where everything feels perfect!
But on my right eye? I can feel the lens every single second. 🤣

I think I'd personally go with the ones with an 8.7 base curve.
But hey, that's just my take—don't go taking my word as gospel! 😬

Just order those Johnson & Johnson ones online
The price isn't even that bad, and honestly, I haven't heard a single person complain about them yet!

rustymarlin39 said:Thank you so much, you always have such great advice! I think my eyes are super dry and sensitive. My skin is really sensitive too, so I can only use the finest creams (and the most expensive ones, obviously!), so I figured it would be the same with my eyes. I'm heading to an eye exam this Saturday, so I'll talk to them about getting lenses specifically for sensitive eyes. I’d love to try those Acuvue two-week disposables. I've also heard that some Proclear lenses are good for sensitivity.
My lenses feel uncomfortable, and I really can't deal with them when they bother me that much. 🙂I can actually feel the edges of the lenses on my eyes. But I'm not giving up! I don't mind spending the money; I'll try everything... just so I can finally find the perfect pair. I was thinking about buying some herbal eye drops, maybe something chamomile-based. I need to make a list for the pharmacy—they already start smirking when they see me walking through the door! Anyway, jadesailor14, if you remember anything else, please let me know! 😘

off topic 😬 For sensitive skin, I highly recommend Avena
Those creams totally changed my life! They're a little pricier than what you'd find at CVS, but they aren't crazy expensive
My skin is extremely dry and I'm allergic to basically everything

Be careful with chamomile, though; it's a pretty strong allergen, and it's a total disaster for me

From experience, you learn that the optometrists at the local shops tend to push whatever they have in stock 😉 You have to do a little digging yourself

One more thing—make sure the lens is on the right side!
When a lens is facing the right way, if you hold it on your index finger at eye level, it should look like a tiny glass bowl with flat edges
If the edges flare out a bit, it means it's inside out
Some lenses actually have markings to show if they're right-side up, so you really can't miss it
After all these years, I don't even check anymore; I just instinctively know if it's right-side up, so I can't even tell which ones have the markings

Another important thing: you can't have any tiny speck of dust get into the lens
With hard lenses, it's not as big of a deal because it floats away, but soft lenses can trap it against your eye, which isn't fun at all
So, wash your hands and instead of using a towel, just let them air dry
Since I'm always rushing at the last minute, I end up waving my hands around like a frantic bird trying to dry them faster 🤣

rustymarlin39 said:My eyes are watering, but I think it's because my lenses are irritating them. Does anyone else deal with sensitive eyes? What brands can you recommend? Mine are just scratching...
Price isn't my main concern right now. Whether they are monthly or quarterly doesn't matter..

I've been wearing contacts since I was 14, and I'm 42 now.
Soft lenses have been around since I started using them here in the States.
Just letting you know how much experience I actually have!😬

I would definitely suggest going with bi-weekly lenses for hygiene reasons and because they're so easy to maintain—you don't need all those messy tablets or extra supplies, just some multipurpose solution.
My daughter has worn contacts for almost 10 years now, and she uses the soft Johnson & Johnson Acuvue bi-weeklies.
She tried a few other brands (it was hard to find some of them sometimes), but these are by far her favorite.
I ordered the Acuvue Advance with Hydraclear from that link, and she put them in today and said they're the best she's ever had!
She can't feel them at all; she honestly didn't even believe she had them in because they were so comfortable.
They cost about $15 or so per box of 6 online, and I really recommend them to you.
The prices they charge us at local optical shops are absolutely insane!

Over all these years of wearing contacts, I've thrown out quite a few after just a few minutes. You can tell immediately when something is wrong with a lens, and it's best to just toss it.
There's no point in messing around with your eyes.
They aren't always perfect; they're so delicate that they can get damaged really easily.

Honestly, those little cleaning devices—like a "washing machine" for lenses—are pretty useless in my opinion.
Maybe they help with long-term lenses that need a deeper clean after a while, but that's about it.

Not every contact lens works for everyone.
There are so many different types out there, and if your eyes are even slightly sensitive, your options are pretty limited.
You'll probably have to try a few different kinds first.
And no, I'm not a spokesperson for Johnson & Johnson, I promise!😬

It might also be that the solution isn't working for you.
Complete is perfect for me, even though I hear plenty of people complain about it.
A few years ago, I bought what I thought was this "perfect" solution, and it was terrible—my eyes stung so badly I had to throw the lenses away.

I’ll give you everything I've got
Just like that—free of charge and with zero regrets 😁
It looks like my mom really needed something to help her feel full 😬
She definitely put on at least 20 pounds because of it

You should try emailing Walmart; maybe they’ll send you some
Or you might even find it sitting right there on the shelf at a local Walmart in the diabetic food aisle
It’s made by Emona
You can find it at Walmart in Austria
They have it right there in Austria, though I'm not sure if we carry it here in the States

I remember back in the day when they first started making it—my neighbor used to snack on it constantly! He'd just polish it off right in front of me🤣

Hey, give him a break! He isn't overeating that much, don't be so harsh.
For a 15-year-old guy, it’s actually pretty normal—my girls eat just as much and stay super slim.

🤔Does anyone know if the Mayo Clinic has a specialized weight management department?
Maybe someone here has some insight.
Or I can look it up later on my own.
Either way, you definitely need medical supervision before trying to drop all those pounds, just to make sure everything goes smoothly and safely.
I bet jumping straight into intense sports feels pretty overwhelming right now, too.
Why not start with some simple walks to build up your stamina?
Just try doing thirty minutes tonight, then tomorrow, and gradually pick up the pace as you feel better!

I totally lost it this past Monday
😬

It’s been 19 days straight of me dyeing my hair!
Honestly, I'm such a goofball—I guess I just love the color 👍

Amy Rogers2 said:Either way, it's definitely a healthier choice than those store-bought hair dyes.

But honestly, 😬
what am I supposed to do about my white blonde hair?
I don't want it turning brassy from using lemon juice!

Hannah Davis18 said:Honestly, this whole thing with Hennaplus is such a headache.😬

Why's that?
Is it just not looking natural, or is the color not sticking?
Toxic hair dyes? in Health ·
Amy Rogers2 said:But there are more and more natural options out there now, like Hennaplus hair dyes or Natracare pads and tampons...

But what about BBQ sliders?

I'm honestly less worried about brain damage than I am about a life without good BBQ!

While these colors aren't exactly "superfoods," this claim is just total nonsense!

Are we talking about hard contacts?

You definitely shouldn't put soft lenses through that kind of treatment!

Bates method for better vision? in Health ·
If it’s been a while since you last wore them, you probably stuck to hard or even semi-rigid lenses
you should definitely give soft contact lenses a shot
I can wear them all day—up to 14 hours easy! I could never make hard lenses last more than 8 hours without needing a break every thirty minutes

Apparently, the catch with those eye exercises is that you aren't supposed to be wearing glasses or contacts while you do them
but honestly, if you have a high prescription, that’s just not realistic at all

Well, why not take a look?
They actually list the price for every single tea right there on their website!

I'm really not sure
but here in the city, everyone is constantly shouting about it

My girls and I are huge tea lovers!
I usually keep about 40 different varieties on hand.

My little one isn't a fan of black tea, and I'm not too crazy about some of the green or white ones.
I much prefer herbal blends.

The Twinings spearmint and chamomile are lovely, and I especially love their chamomile with honey and vanilla.
Teekanne is great too—my absolute favorite is the elderflower and raspberry mix, plus that classic grandma-style plum tea.
I also think Milford’s pear and lemon balm, along with their snowy white blend, are wonderful.
The Biofarm cranberry one is fantastic, honestly much better than the Enziya version, and it's quite a bit cheaper, too!😁

I drink my tea plain, without any additives.
The only exception is during the winter when I love that cozy, rustic vibe.
Just some cornbread, homemade butter, and a pot of linden tea paired with some local moonshine.😵

And Megan Peterson87, you have to remember that herbal tea plants must be dried first!
Plus, where on earth were you picking all those herbs this time of year? Most of them, except for rosehips, are harvested much earlier in the season.
Unless, of course, you're growing them right inside your house!
Once the heavy fog rolls in, you can pretty much forget about finding tea plants out in the wild.
