Where to buy...? [Mega-thread for medical supply info]

It’s absolutely critical that you get the raw, cold-pressed variety intended strictly for topical use!!

I know you can find castor oil at any CVS Pharmacy, but most of what they carry is food-grade meant to be taken orally as a laxative. I’m looking for the kind that is specifically formulated just for applying to the skin. Does anyone know where to find that specific type?

I feel the same way, though I’m guessing those topical treatments meant just for skin application probably pack a much stronger punch.

I’ve hit up pretty much every CVS Pharmacy in town, and they all tell me the same thing—it’s totally off the shelves now.
It’s such a massive letdown. Even the pharmacists I talked to were nodding along, agreeing that the stuff was actually top-tier.

Since I don't speak Austrian, searching online is basically a dead end for me. No luck there.

Basically, Enemon was this dietary supplement made from things like bran and flaxseed. It came in boxes with ten little packets, and the texture was kind of like chocolate cereal powder. You’d just mix it with water and maybe a splash of milk. They even had a specific version designed for diabetics.

Seriously, if anyone out there has any leads on where to find it...🙏 🙏

Maybe give Pfizer a shot... they used to carry stuff just like that!!!

It’s basically the only natural product out there like this... you know, the kind with that thick, paste-like consistency. Such a shame it's unavailable. As far as I can remember, those fibers are what really keep you feeling full...

I’ve already wasted time driving around to a few different CVS Pharmacies in Miami, but I haven't had any luck finding it. They'll send the order off to a wholesaler like Medical intertrada, and since it's being imported from somewhere like Austria or Germany, I guess you're looking at about a three-week wait before your cream actually shows up... just make sure you check the price beforehand, because, well, you're the one footing the bill.

I was browsing through the thread about ragweed allergies and stumbled upon this little gadget.
Here’s my situation:
I deal with chronic sinus inflammation—partially due to allergies (even though my allergy tests didn't actually flag anything specific), but also because I have a deviated septum, which makes me a sitting duck for those constant viral and bacterial infections. Lately, I’ve been relying on Flonase spray, and I have to admit, it helps a bit.
I’m wondering if someone like me could actually see some real improvement by using this device? Also, does anyone know where I can pick one up—I'm currently based in Miami.

You probably know it works on the principle of phototherapy, so I’m a little skeptical about how the doc will take it.🙄

I finally tracked down a CVS Pharmacy in Miami that carries Medinose ($199), so I picked some up this morning. I did consider running it by a doctor first, but honestly—based on my past experiences—they almost always just push whatever they’re already prescribing or maybe some basic vitamins and stuff like Flonase for the nose. So, I decided against it—especially since an ENT appointment would eat up at least half a day of my life, and the waitlist is currently looking like a month-long sentence. I did chat with someone over at the Mayo Clinic, though, and they mentioned that using the device should definitely help. Fingers crossed it actually does something in the next few days. 😳

Honestly, your best bet would be to swing by an orthopedic supply store or just pop into a local CVS Pharmacy.

If you’re in a bit of a pinch, just grab some small square gauze pads and a roll of white medical tape.
(The folks at the pharmacy will know exactly what you mean if you tell them you need it for dressing a wound)

Alright, here’s the situation. My old neighbor has been struggling for years, constantly hobbling around with those elastic compression bandages because of his vein issues and the pain he deals with. He says it’s just what he has to do. But lately, the whole process of putting them on and rolling them up has become an absolute nightmare for him, so now he’s looking into switching to actual compression stockings.

I happened to be near a Simex location recently and saw they carry them. But get this—a single stocking is going to run me about $117! On top of that, they won't even sell them to you without specific specialist medical orders; everything has to be custom-made to fit perfectly, and so on and so forth. Basically, it's a massive headache.

So, my question is: is there anywhere in Washington, D.C. where I can just walk into a store, grab a pair of these things, and walk out? Ideally, I'm looking for something that won't cost a small fortune and is actually durable enough to last.
