Honestly, my heart just sank this past weekend. We went over to my mother-in-law's place to share the news that we're finally going to be parents—after trying for eleven years. And what does she ask me? She asks what I've been doing at home lately. I told her, "Not much, really," because even a little bit of physical strain sends me into stomach pains. Her response? She basically told me I’m just being lazy and making excuses, claiming she and her daughter were working hard right up until they gave birth. Look, she and I don't get along, and we've always kept our distance 311 miles so we don't see each other all that often, but now she thinks I should be out digging holes in the yard just because she managed to do it forty-five years ago.
