Getting a loan through an Austrian bank in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Manc, I’m basically in the same boat as your family—keep your head up, because things can only get better from here. But seriously, you need to think about those loans.🙏 They nearly pushed me out on the street. I have receipts showing I’ve paid 80% of what I owe, and for the rest, I have "confirmations" signed by a branch official whom they’re now claiming didn't even work there. Their lawyers even "admitted" in an informal chat that a bunch of payments weren't recorded, but they don't really care—it’s like, why should they pay us if we can't prove we sent the money? It's unbelievable. I contested most of their claims, but this specific part currently in litigation is way too much, because I’ve already paid it! The Supreme Court case has been dragging on for six years, and now I might actually have to take out a new loan just to cover legal fees, expert witnesses, and lawyers.👎 The court's vibe is basically: "Well, these are big-shot Austrian bankers and entrepreneurs, and we're just small business owners and thieves who want cash without paying our installments..."🤣😲😲 The middlemen made a killing, while we, the actual customers, end up paying for the same thing twice.
And don't even get me started on the state prosecutors. The court and some media outlets are acting like this poor bank was victimized by shady Americans who pulled huge sums of cash using "worthless" property as collateral, and apparently, everyone involved is already in jail in Austria. Now, this "bank" has been bought out by a new firm that’s aggressively pursuing foreclosures and lawsuits against everyone who took out a loan—both the honest people and the criminals. What’s worse is there are hundreds of cases like this, and most people have already lost in the US. The only way to actually win a fight against them is to take it to the courts in Austria.

God !!!!! I’ve been reading through all these posts, and honestly, I can’t believe it. You guys are going to end up losing everything—every single piece of real estate you own.
Can someone please chime in? Is there anyone here who actually got their mortgage cleared and managed to get that lien removed from their property title? I highly doubt there are many people who have pulled that off—unless, of course, they’re just real estate agents or brokers who got paid a massive commission for screwing over us clueless amateurs.

Jack Wood4 said:Look, I get where you're coming from. I used to moonlight for these types of people—first working with our local banks, then moving up to some big outfit out of the USA. Here’s how the racket actually works: the middlemen have to bring their own appraisers to the table. Since you need collateral to secure a mortgage, they use these guys to artificially inflate what your property is worth. Then comes the "goodwill" part. You essentially grease the appraiser's palm, usually around 5% of whatever loan amount you're angling for. Once you've gathered all the paperwork—including your pay stubs, which, if you have any garnishments or bad credit history, obviously need to be "adjusted" illegally—you thank them for their "flexibility." After that, everything gets shipped off to the USA. A few days later, you grab your passport and head over there to collect the cash. They’ll try to convince you to just wire the money directly to your American bank account, but that’s a sucker's move because the transaction fees eat your profit alive. Honestly, once I saw the sheer scale of the deception involved, I walked away. It just wasn't right.

Were you perhaps talking about Hypo Real Estate Inc.? Does anyone here know anything about these thieves? If anyone has info, please reach out. Shady brokers, working alongside crooked American lawyers and notaries, along with what were then the top Austrian execs, ruined my family and about 20 others just like us. We had it the worst—some of us were paying our installments religiously until that "bank" collapsed and everyone ended up in jail (except for those crook middlemen). We thought everything was totally legitimate, but 👎 Basically, it's been six years of lawsuits, foreclosures, and public auctions for the full amount of the loans and leases, because they refuse to acknowledge the payments we already made. They're being represented by a big law firm in Chicago. Financially and morally, they've destroyed us. Our court system seems completely blind to this kind of fraud; legally speaking, we're powerless. The lawyers have bled us dry, and we can't even afford to keep fighting these court cases. We're going to lose everything, even though we actually paid off the loan.
Do you actually know what you want out of life? in Psychology & Therapy ·
I’ll check back in if I come up with anything useful—mostly regarding what I actually want out of life...😍
I try to be pretty realistic and objective when looking at my own goals versus what’s actually possible, but there’s this gap: what’s currently on the table just doesn't hit the mark emotionally...
I guess the happiest people are the ones who actually get to do what they love, rather than just doing whatever they have to because better options aren't around.
So, here’s where I am—my big goal is to find a career that actually feels fulfilling. How to actually make that happen? Well, that’s a whole different story...

I know exactly what I don't want, but I guess I still haven't figured out what I actually do want.🙄
Why do some people need so much money? in Psychology ·
Honestly, my biggest fear is actually winning some insane, astronomical jackpot on the lottery...
Just think about it for a second....
What do you even do with that kind of cash? Who do you give money to, how much goes to charity, and which specific nonprofit gets the check? Where do you even hide the wealth? Then there’s the dark side—what if extortionists show up, or someone tries to kidnap a kid, or you deal with racketeers? Where would you move? And who could you actually hang out with? Because once people realize what you have, you finally see who your actual friends are—the ones who can genuinely be happy for you without expecting a massive handout or some "friendship prize"...
Let's be real, the wealthiest people in the world are often the loneliest....
I don't envy them one bit!
