The frustration of "expert" projections
in Hobbies & Leisure ·
I’ve been following a few different fantasy leagues lately, and it’s honestly starting to get a bit ridiculous how much the "experts" get wrong. Every week, there’s some guru on a major site or a big podcast telling you exactly who is going to skyrocket and who is headed for the gutter. They use all these fancy metrics and advanced analytics to justify their picks, and then the actual results come in and it’s like they weren't even watching the same sport.
It’s becoming a bit of a pattern for me. I’ll draft a sleeper based on a gut feeling or just watching a few games, and they end up carrying my whole team, while the "must-have" superstars end up being massive busts. It makes me wonder if these projections are even based on reality anymore, or if they're just trying to sound smart to keep the clicks coming.
Does anyone else feel like the data-driven approach is actually making the game more frustrating, or am I just looking at the wrong sources?
