I figured I’d jump into this thread too... maybe someone here can offer some actual advice if you've dealt with something similar, or honestly, just give me a little encouragement because I am losing my mind here... hahaha...
I've been battling chronic tonsillitis for years now—about two or three years—and it fluctuates, sometimes it's manageable, other times it's absolute hell. My doctor, after running all the standard tests like blood work, swabs, and thyroid panels (which all came back perfectly normal), recommended that I just get my tonsils out. So, I went to see an ENT specialist, Dr. Roje, in Chicago, and he told me the surgery was the way to go. Fine, whatever, that would be easy enough to swallow if I only had a few bad flare-ups a month, but this isn't just a "once in a while" thing; it feels constant. A friend gave me the number for Dr. Glušac over in Miami, and just from our initial phone call, he could tell I had a deviated septum just by the sound of my voice. Hmm... okay. Well, I went in to see him, and unlike every other doctor who basically just took a half-second glance at my throat and called it a day, he performed a thorough examination of both my nose and my throat. He concluded that the root cause is actually my deviated septum.🤷The mucus from the nasal issues is draining right onto my tonsils, causing constant inflammation. DIAGNOSIS: Deviated septum, chronic sinusitis... he explicitly warned me NOT to have the tonsils removed because the underlying issue would just make things worse, potentially leading to lung problems like asthma... I was absolutely floored. Now I'm looking at nasal surgery, which sounds much more daunting, but he just inspired so much confidence.🤷...To be safe, he suggested I see Dr. Račić in Chicago for a second opinion, probably assuming he'd just confirm his findings. So, I head to see him, and this guy barely even looks at my tonsils before telling me to just get them out! He dismissed the whole thing about my nose entirely. Even when I brought up the deviation, his response was basically, "It's no big deal, you're breathing fine, your nose isn't even blocked..." so now you tell me, which one of these doctors is actually insane?🙏
Has anyone else dealt with this kind of medical runaround?
I honestly don't know who to trust anymore... though Dr. Glušac definitely earned my trust, and I truly felt like he knew exactly what was going on with me.
I noticed you've been talking about him quite a bit lately..
I have to undergo one of these surgeries, I just have no clue which path to take.🤣🤷
You have my support? xD
