Alright, here’s a little something to brighten your day (I’m an ex-mom who barely gave up anything during pregnancy, and hey, I have a perfect, gorgeous 2-month-old now):
I was digging through some old stuff at my parents' place and found this book from the 60s called *Pregnancy and Family* or something like that. I’m flipping through it and it actually says pregnant women shouldn't smoke more than two cigarettes a day. 😂 😂
So if that was considered "healthy" fifty years ago, and if women back then stuck to that and still had healthy kids, I'm pretty sure a little Coca-Cola, coffee, or bacon isn't going to kill anyone.
Honestly, nothing gets under my skin more than people asking, "So, when are you having kids?" Like, if I actually knew the exact date, I’d be playing the Powerball, not working a damn job!!!!
The worst part is when random strangers feel entitled to ask—like servers, cashiers at Target, or even the lady at CVS... Everyone wants to interrogate me, but why does it matter if I'm grabbing coffee or just heading out for a bit? Mind your own business!!!!
Sarah Harris5 said:I literally tell them I know tons of women carrying girls who have popped belly buttons too, but they never believe me. Like, what am I even making up? 😵
But they're all smiles after that....

Right now I look like a total whale, just swollen everywhere—my face, my nose, my lips... ugh, and a double chin in every single photo. I've never had one in my life.

the same thing !!!! That double chin drives me crazy. It just started showing up in photos out of nowhere, and of course, my husband decided this was the perfect time to start taking pictures like crazy. Just what I needed—to document my absolute heaviest phase.

Then today, my esthetician totally rubbed me the wrong way. She kept making comments about how puffy and swollen I look, as if I haven't noticed! I'm not blind, lady!!!!
Douglas Booth22 said:Precisely. It’s just as grating for me. I’ll order a Coke and immediately get hit with: "Oh, I couldn't have carbonation, I didn't drink bubbles while pregnant," and so on and so forth.🙄

Seriously, Coca-Cola is basically treated like a drug around here. Everyone acts like it's forbidden, yet they'll happily eat fruit and veggies covered in pesticides like it's nothing.
I honestly can't even remember how much everyone hovered over my plate and judged my diet when I first started,
but I haven't let anyone comment on my food or my weight for a long time now.
Either way, seeing people act up about coffee today really pissed me off. Good thing I've got a place to blow off steam.
The closer the deadline gets, the more my patience wears thin. It’s always the same thing—women playing dumb, women obsessing over bellies or weight, or those same girls constantly trying to tell me my guy is "the one" when he’s definitely not...

Today’s highlight was this waitress who gave me this massive side-eye when I ordered coffee, just to tell me they don't have decaf. I told her, "Relax, I didn't ask for decaf, just give me a regular one." Honestly, I almost wanted to splash a shot of whiskey in her face.

And don't even get me started on pregnant women at the beach, just sitting there in soaking wet bikinis acting like nothing matters.
To be fair, I’m mostly just jealous because if I stayed out there for even 15 minutes,
I'd end up with a bladder infection from being in a wet swimsuit.
Patrick Grant14 said:Yes, I'm right there with you.
Even while I'm talking on my phone or doing something similar.

Personally, I feel as if someone has gone and anesthetized my fingers.
Like some sort of local anesthetic.
It's truly dreadful.

Is there any actual help for this, by the way?

My fingers started tingling and my palms felt heavy about two weeks ago (I'm 34 now).
I noticed it feels better if I dunk my hands in cold water and stretch my wrists and fingers out. Swimming helps too.
My doctor suggested magnesium, but I haven't really noticed anything, plus I can't stay on it forever.
copperowl51 said:I had a total meltdown at the doctor's office today. I only popped in to pick up some paperwork, but my regular physician is on vacation, so I was seeing a substitute. I handed my insurance card to the nurse, and she just told me to hang tight. So, I waited. And waited. And waited... Not to mention, I’m eight months pregnant and my belly is practically out in front of me. She kept calling in everyone who was "hers," even people who showed up forty-five minutes after I did! Then, she ducks into my doctor's exam room, and a group of guys just hangs out by the door, blocking my way. Honestly, I stayed quiet because I didn't have the energy for an argument, but my blood pressure felt so low I was genuinely worried I might pass out right there.
When I finally made it to the front, the doctor just grabbed my file and pulled out the completed paperwork my regular doctor had already prepared!!! All that for almost two hours of waiting. I was so close to tears from pure frustration; I just muttered that I'd been waiting a bit too long, and they had the nerve to reply, "Oh, we didn't realize everything was already ready." 😠

That reminds me, the same thing happened to me about eight days ago. My doctor was being covered by someone else, and when I went in for my 7-month paperwork, she told me I was TOO EARLY and to come back around the 30th (which is today!!!) 😕 But she handed everything out perfectly fine to her "own" patients—I saw it with my own eyes!! It was never "too early" for them.
This thread always puts me in a certain mood. Sure, there are plenty of nasty stories here, but honestly, it’s just a relief to see I’m not the only one dealing with bad experiences and being a little high-strung...

That part about husbands sitting in waiting rooms 🙏 🙏 is the absolute TRUTH!!! And I totally agree with the point that their wives share the blame too. I've basically concluded that women can be their own worst enemies; I see so many of you irritating other women who seem to have way less empathy than you'd actually expect from a human being.
Yesterday, some young girl was so incredibly rude, just cutting right in front of me for a bathroom stall that I was left speechless. I even mentioned to my husband, "Well, maybe she'll be pregnant one day and end up in the same boat," and he just bluntly snapped back, loud enough for people to hear, "She's such a mess, she probably won't." I ended up feeling more embarrassed for her than she was 🙂
Totally agree, the constant unsolicited advice about my belly is the worst part—on the road, at coffee shops, even at the beach... And what you two mentioned about the Fisher-Price store—I haven't had an episode quite that rude, but I still deal with old ladies in stores or at the farmers market acting like investigators, asking if I'm due any second and commenting on how huge my stomach is. Like it's my fault? Should I just stop eating and drinking entirely so I can meet their standards?

My latest highlight from this morning: I'm at the grocery store grabbing a paper and some Marlboro cigarettes (which isn't really my thing 🙂). The cashier gives me the once-over, fumbles around with the cigarette packs, and then pulls out the one that says "Smoking is harmful to you and your baby" 😁
Meanwhile, the teenager behind me is buying beer and spitting everywhere, and she doesn't even bother checking if he's 18! It’s just great that she decided I was the one she needed to lecture to clear her conscience!
rustyrider20 said:Ugh, gross. That sounds like one of those beaches packed with bored older ladies... I was at a spot where nobody was over 35 or under 15, and my bump went completely unnoticed. Everyone was too busy eyeing those fit girls in bikinis with tattoos on their backs—and honestly, I was looking too, 😁those girls were absolute perfection

Yeah, well, it wasn't just old ladies—it was everyone, young and old. New episode: I’m walking into the ocean, and this guy yells out to his entire squad of like 15 people, "Yo, check out that gut!!!" There was even a pregnant woman right there with them (!!!), and she just deadpans, "Yeah, it's huge," then pulls out a cigarette and lights up!!! 😕

And I'm sitting there thinking, what idiots. You're acting like my stomach is some freak show, but honestly, looking at her, I doubt hers will be any better once all that smoking kicks in. 😁
Edward Williams8 said:Screw the tourists who shop at Walmart while they're on vacation...😂 😂

😁 😁 That's awesome!

I gotta stop posting about my vacation and these tourists. Ever since we hit the coast a few days ago, I can’t go to the beach without everyone staring at my gut. It’s like a cartoon—every time I head toward the water, I feel the whole beach tracking my every move. Like, seriously, WHAT IS SO INTERESTING about a pregnant belly?? 😕
The worst part is when people on the beach try to strike up a conversation, asking what week it is or trying to give you unsolicited advice. I’m just sitting here waiting for someone to ask if I’m actually getting any sun or how I even manage to get into the water.
Edward Williams8 said:So, some guy on the subway just asked if he could go ahead of me because he only had two items. I told him, "Sir, I’ve got three items and a two-pound baby in my gut..." He just turned around...

Bravo, really. People like that seriously get under my skin.

I was at the UPS store today based on a recommendation, and the line was massive—nobody was budging. Suddenly, this young guy behind me starts making a huge scene about how pregnant women shouldn't have to wait and how shameful it was that no one was letting me go first. The guy at the front of the line immediately stepped aside to let me through. As I was leaving, this kid just hits me with, "Well, I just had a daughter myself!" Real classy.
First time, I gotta admit 😁
hiddenscout362 said:You dodge it, I dodge it, honestly everyone with any sense avoids it. But when you feel like you're being called out—like people start digging into why, especially since I've only been married for a year and they're already asking why we aren't having kids yet—👎 I honestly have no clue how to respond. My go-to is just a dismissive wave of the hand, something like "maybe someday, there's plenty of time," but part of me really wants to come up with a slightly snarky comeback just to make them feel awkward for even bringing it up...🤔

One time after a question like that, I totally snapped and told them, "What, you wanna know if we're actually having sex?! Yeah, we're doing it all the time!" That shut them up pretty quick. 🙂
analogskipper12 said:The Walmart over in suburban Phoenix has one of those specialized lanes—you know, the ones for pregnant women, people with disabilities, or just the ten-item limit.
I was there a few days ago.
The line for that specific register felt six miles long.
And everyone? Everyone had a cart overflowing with groceries!
It’s like the managers and cashiers just don't give a damn.
I’m standing there holding nothing but a melon and a loaf of bread.
Naturally, I just gave up, moved to a regular lane, and waited my turn. It took about fifteen minutes—not that it was a big deal, except for the fact that it was ninety degrees out and I really needed a bathroom.🙄
When I finally got home, I actually called their customer service line just to ask why they even bother having those lanes if they're just going to cause confusion.
The guy on the phone actually had the nerve to ask, "Well, why didn't you just wait in line?"

Listen, buddy, you try waiting in that heat while some jerk tries to shove past you.🤷

Long story short, I didn't have a great experience.

Top tier insight right there. Honestly, seeing how you'd handle a crowd, you probably wouldn't survive a stampede.
loneridge94 said:I’ve gotta report this cashier at the Walmart down on Napa Valley too, because she honestly attacks me every single time, questioning why on earth I’m just standing there waiting my turn when, since I’m pregnant, I should supposedly have priority. 👍 🙂
Am I just stupid? Or is it just that I don't feel like pushing through a crowd.

no_nic, we both shop at the same Walmart 😁 but honestly, I've never actually had someone try to skip me ahead in line before.😕
So, here’s my experience at Walmart (Imperial center):
The cashier actually called me out from the line to use the pregnancy lane, which had been closed until she specifically opened it just for me. As I was walking over, some old guy tried to cut right in front of me, acting like since he only had two items, he should just breeze through. The cashier looked totally lost trying to deal with his rudeness, but once everyone else in line started yelling at him, he finally backed off.
Honestly, that was probably the first and only time I’ve seen any actual point to those "pregnancy lanes." Places like Kroger have them too, but you never see a pregnant woman or someone with a disability actually using them, and the staff never says a word about it.
Since we’re on the topic of mothers-in-law—mine is actually fine, but she made one comment that drove me absolutely insane: she kept insisting I was having a boy just because she "felt it in her gut." When the ultrasound confirmed it was a girl (which is what I was actually hoping for 🙂), she just doubled down. She claimed the scan was probably wrong because her "intuition" is better than an ultrasound or two doctors combined. Even now, after every single checkup, she’s still like, "Is it still a girl?" As if the baby is going to change gender just to satisfy her! We’re at 30 weeks now, so it would be pretty obvious if they were wrong, but she won't let it go... even my mom thinks she's being ridiculous 😂
Kate Cox2 said:It honestly drove me absolutely insane how everyone would act so judgmental the moment they realized I was wearing thongs. It’s as if it were some sort of strictly forbidden ritual during pregnancy...😁
I truly haven't the slightest clue why people care; I kept wearing them without any issue whatsoever, though I did finally pick up some standard briefs just recently. But then again, as I have remarked before—I am quite a resilient individual, and nothing really bothers me much.😁

And another thing... you actually drive a car???? 😲That simply cannot be allowed!!!! Honestly, you aren't supposed to do that at all... 🙄

Same deal here, both with the thongs and the driving!!
Another thing that bugs me is that classic question: "Are you still working?" People look at me like I've lost my mind. And the best advice ever: "Just make sure you don't overexert yourself!!!" As if typing on a laptop is basically lifting heavy crates in a warehouse.😁
