Hey everyone, could someone take a look at this bone marrow biopsy report? I'm wondering if anything stands out as concerning. It’s for a 66-year-old man who was sent in for the puncture due to thrombocytopenia—he's been dealing with that for about a year and a half to two years now. His CBC Panel is otherwise pretty normal, and he gets checked out every six months because his PSA levels have been elevated. Other than that, he isn't really complaining of anything else.
Here are the results from the image:

I mean, honestly—it really just comes down to what you feel like putting out there, right? You get to decide which bits of your life you want to share and which ones you’d rather keep strictly to yourself—no pressure either way!
I honestly can't wrap my head around who is actually requesting these specific tests or what the clinical reasoning even is—especially when it comes to the acid-base status. I mean, is that supposed to be an arterial sample or capillary? I’m assuming it's capillary, but nothing is ever clearly laid out, right? And then there's the timing of it all—why start with the blood draw right away, only to follow up again after a month, and then once more after a week? It just seems a bit scattered to me.
We also ran some tests on venous lactate, plasma carnitine, and serum amino acids—those all came back looking totally normal. We did the first Klan screening pre-op before a testicular procedure, but the other tests were ordered by the neuropediatrician because of some delays in motor development and really low muscle tone. Aside from that, the little one isn't showing any signs of being in pain.
I realized I haven't even said thanks yet—thanks so much for taking the time to look over those results! 🙂
Lactate was sitting at 286 (normal is under 241), and calcium came back at 2.7 (range is 2.14-2.53)
Does this whole thing point toward something specific? We already went ahead and scheduled an appointment with a hematologist just to be safe.

This is for a one-year-old. They aren't acting sick—we just don't know why the platelet count is high. If anyone is willing to take a look and share what you think, I’d really appreciate it.
Edward Rodriguez4 said:So I went to the local Red Cross clinic today for my last blood donation, and let me tell you, the woman working there absolutely butchered me... it was like she was skinning a deer or something! And honestly, how much blood do they really need? I’m telling you, they just sell it all off later—probably straight to some butcher shop to make blood sausages or whatever. Absolute scum! Plus, why does it hurt so damn much when they hit a vein?! Honestly, I’d rather have them just go straight for the jugular; at least then they might actually hit something instead of this mess... and then she has the nerve to comment, "Oh, your veins are so deep!!" Yeah, well, thanks for noticing! 🙄
Should I ask her to use a shallower needle next time???☕
Oh, don't even get me started! You can't believe how bad it gets. A few months after my last visit there, my arms were covered in these massive bruises from where they poked me. Every time I went in for a routine checkup, the doctors were staring at me like I was some kind of junkie!🙄
Honestly, those mindless Facebook posts just drive me up the wall—you know the ones, where people post a picture of their kid with some caption like "my little angel... one more on the way!" Yeah, right. As if you could even manage to find a decent job, let alone handle a whole child. 😠
And don't even get me started on when someone actually has the nerve to ask me, "So, have you had your baby yet?" Ugh! Just... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't even bring myself to comment on those posts above—I'd just end up 🙂
It’s honestly driving me a little crazy—I just spent an entire hour in the bathroom prepping for my checkup tomorrow (which basically means I'll probably end up nicking myself with a razor anyway), and then, right as I’m getting ready to moisturize, I realize I used an old, dull blade and missed half the job. So now, instead of a relaxing morning, I’m looking at a 6:00 AM wake-up call to deal with this whole mess all over again..🙄
So my mom just called me out of the blue—total surprise there—and told me that when I head in for my checkup tomorrow, I should just tell the doctors I'm ready to go into labor right then and there🤷
I honestly can't decide if I should be laughing my head off or just breaking down in tears at the thought..
I honestly lost it when we told my husband’s aunt that I was pregnant—her immediate reaction was just, "Oh, you guys are getting ahead of yourselves, aren't you?" Like, seriously? We're married, we already have one kid at home... as if we’re just out here playing games or something. 🙂
Sophia Taylor872 said:I feel like I might just be getting on my own nerves today... honestly, I’ve just been feeling so tearful lately, and it feels like my hormones are completely running the show. I’m acting nothing like my usual self, and my mind keeps racing through all sorts of different thoughts. It’s also like I have this bottomless pit for a stomach where I’m constantly hungry—kind of like a little piglet, I guess... grrrr. I think I’m mostly just frustrating myself because I’ve started overanalyzing certain people, situations, and everything that’s been happening around me. Naturally, I ended up finding plenty of things that make me feel angry or just plain sad. I really wish I could just stop thinking about it all, put some music on, and force a smile... but I just can't seem to make it happen right now...
It actually bugs me having to read your post and seeing you talk about feeling like a bottomless pit and being so hungry. It immediately made me jump up to grab some Hershey's chocolate, even though I know it's going to give me terrible heartburn and make me feel sick. And honestly? It's frustrating because there was one day where I totally overdid it on those snack cakes and spent the whole day feeling nauseous and unable to eat anything properly. My schedule is just completely out of whack lately...😢
Edward Rodriguez4 said:So my grandma called me today... now, just to be clear, I have two grandmas. One is an absolute legend—we love her to death. But then there’s this other one... we don't exactly vibe with her. She's just a total piece of work...
first thing out of her mouth was, "How much weight have you put on?!" 🙄
I just looked at her and said, "Hey, even pigs get fat sometimes..." Then she hits me with: "And what about that urinary infection?! What's going on with that? Huh???" I told her everything's fine (honestly, I'm just winging it until my lab results actually come back), but get ready for her logic: "That's because of your OBGYN!!! It's because you go to those appointments every single month!! She passed it to you!! Who even sees a doctor that often?? Stop going to every little checkup, it's not worth the trouble" 😲😲😲
I just played along and told her, "Yeah, Grandma... you're totally right... my doctor is basically a domestic terrorist who carries Ureaplasma germs on her medical tools and spreads them to pregnant women... what a complete nightmare!" 🙂
"and how much weight did you gain" 😂 😂 😂
Anyway, I have to mention my aunt again too. That's just her usual vocabulary, honestly. My favorite part is when she claims she's the one who "fed up" three of her kids... which, looking at them... yeah, I can definitely see it. 🤣
Jesse Evans85 said:Honestly, the way people phrase things just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They ask, "Did the baby come back to life?" Like, what does that even mean? The baby *is* alive! When they say "came back to life," it sounds like they’re asking if I can feel movement or something, but the wording is just so clumsy and insensitive. It’s such an ugly way to put it.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ugh, okay, so this was hands down the most annoying thing for me too!!! It was especially bad because every single day, some nurse would ask me the exact same thing. And every single day, I’d have to respond with, "I don't understand—what do you mean by 'came back to life'???"—just me and a few other moms dealing with the same nonsense. And honestly, if anyone actually told them that I intentionally ended things at five weeks, they’d act all horrified like I could have even killed a baby... I mean, how can you kill something that wasn't even living yet? (Okay, maybe I'm being a bit dramatic, but man, that question just... ugh!😠)
Hey there, I am honestly just so sorry you aren't getting the attention you deserve right now—especially during this beautiful season of life when you're expecting. I won't try to play therapist or tell you how to run your life since you know your partner better than anyone else ever could. He might have a million other great qualities, sure, but if he’s being this dismissive and failing to respect you while you're preparing to be a mom, it really undermines everything else. At the end of the day, you're the one who knows if this is something you can live with or if it's a dealbreaker.
Anyway, don't let it get to you too much—your little one needs you feeling positive and bright.
Wishing you all the best!
🙂
Here’s what’s actually driving me up the wall:
My mother-in-law’s sister came to stay with us for a week—she's 22, and honestly, I don't know how anyone can be this useless and lazy, it's like God intended it! She sleeps until noon, then just rolls out of bed and spends the entire day scrolling through Facebook—can you believe it?—and she won't even pick up her own plate after lunch. I’m the one who has to run out to the grocery store to grab bread for her because by the time she finally decides she wants some, the local market is already sold out. She just sprawls out on the couch like she owns the place, and my poor husband comes home exhausted from work only to have to tackle the dishes himself. When I make a snack for the little one, I practically have to make one for her too, and she just sits there on that couch staring at her phone. Even when I ask her to watch the baby for a few minutes while I jump in the shower, she gets sucked right back into social media, leaving the toddler playing alone with her dolls right at the top of the stairs! And look, I’m supposed to be resting strictly right now—which she knows full well—but apparently, her lazy self is the most important thing in the universe, so she stays on the couch while I’m stuck lying on the floor. To top it all off, she decided she needed eye surgery this morning, which cost her parents about $900, and her mom is acting like she just went through major surgery for a tumor or something. Meanwhile, my own mother is literally in the hospital having appendicitis right now, and I don't even have the energy to tell anyone because I'm just so fed up with all this self-centeredness. And the best part? Our "dear" guest actually had the nerve to say she shouldn't have to lift a finger for a few days because of her eye procedure. I mean, seriously, what exactly was she doing before this? 😕
It’s like she’s mocking me to my face. Honestly, give me a break...
It honestly drives me up the wall when people won't just call a baby a baby—or use their actual name—and instead settle for calling them "that thing" or "it." Not that she’s usually my favorite person anyway...
Is this actually normal? For the last few days, I’ve been feeling this weird pressure in my chest—kind of like everything is being squeezed—and my breaths feel way shallower than usual. It’s especially noticeable when I’m lying down at night. I did have mild bronchial asthma back in the day, though I don't smoke at all.
Do you think this could just be because of the humid weather we're having lately, or should I go ahead and make an appointment with my doctor?
Has anyone else dealt with anything similar?
Thanks!
