I’ve been living with tetraplegia since my early thirties.
Back at the start of July, I picked up a *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* infection. It hit me with high fevers, heavy sweating, general weakness, and chills. For the last decade or so, I’ve mostly been dealing with *E. coli*, which I try to keep in check, even though I deal with frequent urinary tract infections. Because of the *Pseudomonas*, I was put on Ciprinol and Novocef. While waiting for my results, I was hospitalized in the Urology department and given Garamicin. Once the urine culture came back, the *Pseudomonas* had cleared, but an Enterococcus popped up instead. They tried Vancomycin, but because of an allergy, they switched it to Zyvoxid 600 twice a day. I took that for ten days, but it didn't seem to do much. Then, on August 14th, my urine culture showed both *Pseudomonas* and *E. coli* again. I started Ciprinol then, and I’ve been on it for 13 days now—I'm supposed to continue until Monday. On Friday the 22nd, I did another culture, but nothing changed; it's the same old story with *Pseudomonas* and *E. coli*. In fact, the *Pseudomonas* count actually jumped from 10^4 to 10^5 compared to the last test. I’m starting to wonder if there’s any point in continuing the Ciprinol if it isn't working. Can I be prescribed a heavy-duty reserve antibiotic via IV just to wipe this thing out once and for all? I should mention that compared to early July/early August, I am feeling a bit better; the fever is gone, though I still don't feel great. I’m still getting occasional chills, sweating, general weakness, and insomnia. Honestly, all of this is really tanking my quality of life.
The first one was from 8/8, the lower one is from 8/22.
