I'm officially entering my misanthrope era in Psychology ·
Aaron Howard27 said:it's mostly because my family thinks the same way. but hey, whatever—they basically expect me to be married with a whole brood of kids by now since they all tied the knot at twenty-four, so they’re clearly living in their own little world... I don't even try to argue with them about my life anymore.

That is just so typical. If you don't want to follow their exact blueprint, you're suddenly "not normal." I guess I could have saved myself a lot of heartache if I'd just realized earlier on that it was perfectly okay to be different...

I honestly don't get why my people think I'm some kind of freak just because I value my alone time. It’s actually pretty irritating, if I'm being honest. 😢
It’s not like I hate people or anything. I enjoy hanging out, I like going out on the town... I just don't see what's weird about wanting to wander through downtown by myself, or hitting up the mall alone, or even just going for a solo skate or a run.
But I have this need for peace, I guess. There are times when I can go a few days without seeing anyone at all, and I feel perfectly fine with that. 😍
Mediocrity is everywhere in Psychology ·

I get it. You need a push, and clearly, just being unhappy isn't enough of a catalyst.
But honestly, sitting around complaining isn't going to change a thing. It’s a waste of time.
For me, I started by changing myself first, and that eventually shifted my whole social circle exactly the way I wanted it to. Changing things is hard, I know, but you've gotta stay tough. Your happiness is worth the effort.

Whenever I feel like I’m slipping into being totally basic, I just slap some funky color on my nails and call it a day. 🤷
Alright, jokes aside, I think mediocrity is really just about everyone copying everyone else—the same style, the same lifestyle, all of it. But honestly, I don't see what the big deal is. It’s fine. People are just terrified of change, I guess.
But once you're actually sick of it, then maybe you should try carving out your own path.

I'm not entirely sure, maybe I've got it wrong, but I think the cutoff is around 16 years old.
silentdrifter13 said:Hey, guys, I need some help if anyone knows what's going on. I'm kind of panicking because I accidentally smacked my nose last night—just a bit below the tip. It wasn't a massive hit, but it hurt quite a bit. When I looked in the mirror this morning, I honestly thought the middle part of my nose looked a little dented, and there's still this slight ache right there. I can't tell if I'm just overthinking things, but I have a really bad feeling about this. It’s been exactly one week since my surgery (still rocking the bandages), and I'm wondering if it's actually possible to cause some damage this early on. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? Help please. 😢

Maybe the best move is just to call your doctor and give them the full story if you're worried?
I don't want to say anything for certain, after all, who am I to know these things, haha, but something similar happened to me once. 🙂
Basically, I had this crazy dream and ended up punching myself right in the nose while I was sleeping. 🤣 It had been two weeks since my surgery at the time. It definitely hurt, but nothing actually broke or anything.

As for picking a surgeon, I suppose it’s all down to personal preference. Every doctor has their own specific style, anyway.

wow, looks absolutely stunning 😍
vividfox said:Thanks so much, I totally read you loud and clear.🙈

I had septum surgery—basically just some cartilage repositioning along with a little bit of cosmetic work—so I guess it’s pretty standard for it to be swollen since my whole nose is still incredibly sore!! 🙂 But knowing there was actually swelling involved, 😁 👋 makes me feel a lot better about things. Thanks a ton!!😍 🎉

Hehe, no worries at all. 😍

I was honestly a total wreck after my surgery. There was just so much emotional stress built up, you know how it is when you expect one thing... and then you end up with this swollen mess instead. Eventually, I just calmed down and stopped staring at it in the mirror. Time passed, and I didn't even realize when it finally healed up. 😍

Oh, and I should mention one more thing. My procedure wasn't a full-on reconstructive surgery; it was more of a correction and maybe a tiny bit of enhancement. So, speaking from my own perspective, I wasn't having major plastic surgery, but I think I read somewhere that recovery might be faster that way.
vividfox said:Honestly, you’re my only source of comfort here 😛 because... mine doesn't look great, even from the side. 😢
I'm just sitting here, waiting and waiting... waiting for it to finally, finally shrink down!!
Did yours swell up a lot, or just a little? Because I'm thinking... if it was only a little, it probably won't help me much. 😵🙂

Thanks a ton 😍

Mine ended up looking like a little balloon—super swollen—but that passed. It eventually settled down over time. Don't worry, just hang in there. 😍

I've got a septum correction coming up too, though I doubt the recovery will take that long. I'm guessing everything should stabilize after about a month. 🙂

I’m actually pretty terrified, even though people told me not to worry. They were talking about this bump right on my nose, but now that the whole area is swollen, the spot where the bump was—plus the bridge of my nose—just looks massive to me. 😲🙂
So, you’re saying a month?? I’m only on day 11. I’ve been spraying my face with thermal water... and using ointment because the skin is peeling everywhere. Right now, I can’t even imagine things actually "shrinking," but maybe you're right... thanks. 🙂😵

Hehe, I used the thermal water too, and my skin was peeling a bit as well. Just be patient, I guess. It’ll all turn out fine. 😍

I read somewhere that the whole recovery process actually takes six months (!) though it seems like the surface stuff heals pretty fast.
Brian Garcia61 said:What does "all that" actually mean here? Like, does the doctor just give you a general warning about everything?

I used chamomile rinses; my doctor suggested that.
I think there are some creams you can pick up too, and I’ve been using some thermal water spray. Maybe it's all just a placebo effect, I guess, but it feels like my nose settled down a bit faster.
Of course it looks bigger, but that’s just gonna settle down. I mean, mine was pretty swollen too 🤣
after about a month, it looked basically brand new—and that's even if you were actually being diligent with the aftercare
