Seriously, props to you... easily the best thing anyone has posted in this whole thread so far.

That’s how a smart, level-headed person looks at things, and honestly, I think you just dropped the ultimate food for thought on us all.

Big shoutout once again for post 🙏

I am so glad we see eye to eye on this. There's clearly enough smart people here to go around...👍

Kenneth Brooks9 said:Most people here probably agree with you—that his head is just spinning with how he’s gonna relapse again—but I’m not so sure. He’s actually been clean from heroin for six months now. His biggest mess-up is the needle addiction; he’s still shooting up even when he's on meth. In these last three years, he’s only touched heroin a handful of times—though, yeah, when he does, he gets hooked fast. It’s really the needle that’s killing him.

I honestly don't understand why you even asked for advice if every single response you get is immediately met with an excuse for him?!😕

From where I'm sitting, instead of wrestling with how to tell him it's over—to explain that you simply can't, and won't, fight his addiction anymore because you know it's a war you cannot win (regardless of those few small victories along the way)—you are actually exhausting your own young, healthy mind by manufacturing justifications for him. But more importantly, you're making excuses for yourself, simply because you're still standing by his side after everything.

Honey, life can be incredibly harsh sometimes. We all face those moments where we have to weigh what we gain against what we lose. Making the call and following through is something no one else can do for you. So, since it seems to me that you actually *want* to stay in this hell, I suggest you put everything on the scale. Ask yourself: Are you truly ready to dedicate your entire existence to his heroin and his needles? Are you prepared to ruin not just your own life—since his is already compromised—but also the lives of the people who love you unconditionally? Are you ready to potentially have children with a man like this, only to spend your working hours terrified that he'll take advantage of your absence to bring his "friends" home to crash? Will you ever feel safe knowing your kids can't run barefoot in the house because you're constantly scanning the floor for discarded needles? Can a man consumed by this lifestyle ever truly hear a baby crying without being distracted? Or worse, will he leave a child alone because he needs to "quiet down," only for that child to accidentally set the house on fire with a lighter while playing? It's a terrifying thought, isn't it?🙂 🙂

Since you are an adult, please, don't just think about him and yourself; think about the entire future. If you can truly live with everything I just laid out on that scale—if you genuinely believe that what you call "love" at twenty-one is something you'll never experience again with any other man—then grab onto your "great love" with both hands and don't let anyone shake your resolve! Take full responsibility for your choice, because you are a grown, intelligent woman, and eventually, you won't be able to point the finger at anyone else for the consequences.
