I’m curious about where you actually laid out the text for the invites... and more importantly, where on earth you sourced that incredibly high-quality paper they used?

I used some stationery from Malibu. I think that was the name. I just ended up printing everything myself at home...😉

cosmicsurfer17 said:I think you might be mixing Volar up with some other group. If I recall correctly, they're a quartet plus a female singer, and they actually play everything live... 🤷

And what about Phoenix? Has anyone actually heard them live?

You're right about there being four of them back in the day—there definitely wasn't a singer then. It was just two guitars, some keys, and I think one of the guys handled the vocals. They've gotten really good at playing live now, though. Honestly, the sound quality at those shows is usually great, so you probably won't be disappointed regardless. But for me, those guys from San Diego were definitely the better act.😉
Good luck either way...

I actually posted about this little dilemma over in the band discussion thread, too... so here it is again just in case...

The band swapped out their singer, and honestly, the new guy just isn't hitting the mark. It’s been a struggle trying to get on the same page with them—there's just no chemistry there. We eventually decided to pass on them entirely. Now, we're back on the hunt for a new group. We've had our eyes on Phoenix from San Francisco, Rocatansky from Zadar, and Volar from Split... though I have to say, Phoenix is definitely our top choice right now...
But at the end of the day, the only way we actually got to hear them was through YouTube...
Has anyone actually caught them live? I'm curious to know what the experience is really like... Thanks in advance.

Hey, how's it going...
I was at a wedding in Washington, D.C. this past summer, and they had this group called Rocatansky playing. They’re actually from Zadar—the bride was originally from there—and man, they were incredible. The energy in the room was just perfect. Everything was played live, and honestly, the sound quality was top-notch...
I remember catching a Volar set once at a bonfire... the guys were decent enough, I guess, but honestly? They don't even come close to these guys. It’s just the three of them playing to a backing track, unless they've changed things up recently...
Well, I hope that was actually helpful...
Hey there...
Eric Price18 said:Honestly, I’m feeling that end-of-summer slump too. Even the budget isn't really the main issue here—I just want to make sure whoever we see is actually a killer band... I'm gonna go scroll through some

Major League Baseball... They're incredible. You definitely won't regret seeing them. I've been to at least seven different backyard BBQs where they played, and they were flawless every single time. They even played at one of my parties once...

mostly, the $50-$23 per person is just for drinks
food price is $46 per person, plus I pay for the BBQ separately
ends up being about $35 for me in the end

Supposedly their food is great, and for the grilling, I'll just work it out with the chef who knows a local guy who can handle it

The point is, this is perfect if I need to host people coming from out of town and need a place to put them

That's why I'm asking if anyone actually has experience with this hotel. The hall doesn't look bad at all—large terrace, ocean view

And yeah, if this falls through, were you guys worried about the lodging itself, or was it more like "we can reserve a room for you, just let us know and pay later" type of thing?

I actually attended a party there once. The hall is fine—there are certainly nicer places, as the decor has a bit of that old-school mid-century vibe. The food was great, and the service was solid too. If they gave it a modern facelift, it would be perfect, but if your main concern is where the guests will sleep, it could work out okay. At the end of the day, a party is a party, and I don't think the quality depends on the room as much as it does on the people involved...🙂

What do I know? Personally, my first thought would be The Pentagon Jewelry. They seem like the most modern option out there! 😁

The selection might be pretty solid, so I'm planning on heading there first. We'll see how it goes from there.

Hopefully, someone will eventually step up and help us out! 🙂

😍

If you want the widest variety of rings, you should check out Vegas Jewelers; they're tucked away in that little alleyway right between the main plaza and the farmer's market. They specialize specifically in wedding bands, so if you have a unique vision in mind, you can pretty much custom order whatever you want. Most other jewelers in the city can make anything you desire, provided you actually have an idea of what you're looking for if you don't want the standard stuff. I ended up getting mine at MediaCorp near The Pentagon—it's right next to Tiffany & Co.—because I snagged a 20% discount at a bridal expo. Hopefully, that helps even just a little bit.😉

Christian Wilson81 said:What do you guys think of Bravo Band? We haven't decided on anyone else yet, but good music is such a huge part of the whole vibe... 😕
Unfortunately, my Uber is tied up right now 😢

Personally, they weren't really my cup of tea, though I know plenty of people who were actually pretty happy with them. It all just comes down to what kind of music you're into, I guess. There are still a ton of other solid bands out there besides Taxi. You’ve got the First League—which is my own band, by the way, and we're pretty satisfied with how things are going—plus Viva, The Dice, Volar, and Flash... I've been to several parties where all these groups played, and honestly, they were all pretty good in my book... Hopefully that helps a bit...😉
Bank account frozen: What should I do? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Alexander Martinez11 said:Hey everyone,

So, I’ve been using my Intel debit card from Bank of America quite a bit—at least once a month. Since they charge me $1.75 a month for online banking, I usually make sure to leave a little extra cushion on the card just to cover it. But a few days ago, I went to top up my phone credit (I totally blanked on $1.75 how much I needed to keep in there) and I ended up going into the negative. It was tiny, though—like, literally negative $0.01 according to the app.

Then, out of nowhere, I get a call from a lady at the bank telling me I’m overdrawn and that I’m racking up overdraft interest, so she told me I need to deposit a few bucks to fix it.

Fast forward three days (so, today), and I finally saw a deposit from $100 hit my account. I checked my online banking to see if it cleared, and it shows $100. It looks like they just swallowed that money to cover the negative balance.

But here’s the actual nightmare: my card is completely blocked! I tried using an ATM, and the screen just said: "YOUR CARD HAS A RESTRICTION. YOU MAY ONLY REQUEST BALANCE INQUIRIES OR MAKE DEPOSITS." I couldn't even check my balance or withdraw cash; the machine just keeps spitting my card back out at me.

To make matters worse, I tried to buy more phone credit online and the transaction was declined immediately. My online banking says my current balance (and my available funds) is $100.

Now I'm sitting here wondering: WHY can't I get my hands on my own money? Is it really because of that single cent I was short?

Just for context, this is part of a student account, so I don't have a steady paycheck or any major deposits coming in. I'm just a student living off 😁
.

Bank of America automatically freezes your account the second you hit a negative balance. Once the debt is paid off, it usually takes 24 to 48 hours for the card to unfreeze itself. You could try going into a branch to have them manually unblock it, but honestly... you ran into the exact same thing by being short just one cent or $333. That's just how Bank of America operates. It's ridiculous...
Olivia Lee5 said:Well, let me try to correct you there. The restaurant is actually called the Old Palace... and honestly, the food there is pretty great. 😉😉

Holy Cross does play, though I suppose it's hard to say if they'd be up for performing for such a small group in a venue like that... it might not really be worth it for them.
As for Baltena, I'm not so sure; being outdoors by the ocean is lovely, but I wonder if they'd even allow music after midnight or if they'd be open to that kind of arrangement at all.🤷

From what I understand, Holy Cross is undergoing some renovations or additions, so they moved all the receptions upstairs to the level where the smaller room used to be for greeting guests, so that could actually work for you. Plus, there’s a little church nearby, which I think is wonderful; I witnessed a wedding like that once where people had a nice little walk from the church to the hall, and there were about 80 people. Either way, just give them a call and see...
Regarding the ballet venue, I saw a reception like that once, but I was already at the evening event and the reception was right next to us. I believe they let the music play until about midnight or so, at least that’s how it was then.
Personally, if I had to choose between the ballet venue and Holy Cross, I’d definitely go with Holy Cross...😉

Charles Wood92 said:I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but my experience at Pirate Bay hasn't been great. I went to an event there once and the catering was honestly pretty disappointing—definitely wasn't worth the hype. Also, word on the street is they don't even help set up the stage for the band, so you might have to handle that yourself. Definitely double-check that before you commit!

I actually attended an event there myself, and honestly, the food was nothing to write home about. Portions were pretty meager, too. It was a mixed menu with fish and meat options, though maybe having just one choice would have been better. Regardless, it wasn't nearly as good as some of the other venues in San Francisco. Then again, that might not mean much since I barely ate anything anyway!😉
There wasn't even a proper stage; the band was just playing on that little platform right at eye level with the guests on the dance floor, which led to all sorts of bumping and awkward collisions...

Charles Wood92 said:Do you know if they'll come to you, or do you have to head into the salon?

I’m pretty sure you have to go to the salon. She’s usually slammed with hair appointments on Saturdays, so I wouldn't count on her swinging by... Just ask, though; maybe she’d be willing to make an exception! Personally, I always just go to the salon—that way the makeup artist can come over too, and I can get everything done in one spot...😉

Where are you all getting your hair done? Looking for a solid recommendation for a good stylist 😉

Go to Apple on Broadway. Taylor Swift is absolutely incredible...

I honestly don't think the timeline works in favor of Foto Studi in if they're trying to turn around a three-month shoot. It’s just a total disaster...

It’s happening again: I was eyeing the Matić-ali option, but since the price tag is pretty steep, it’s officially off the table.
Since both other options share a similar artistic flair, I’m torn—should I go with Nikola Smernić (from Studio Papaja) or Siniša Srdanović?

The price difference is negligible if you hire two photographers instead of one, given they can capture much better angles and more diverse shots.
So, in terms of budget, it’s essentially a wash.
But who actually delivers better work? Who is more approachable, and in your experience, whose final images possess that superior level of quality?

I would truly appreciate your recommendations...
Thanks

Siniša !!!😍

Please help.
Thank you.

I second everything said above. That same duo handled both the photography and the videography for my big day. I am beyond thrilled with the photos and the digital copies we received.👍
Highly recommend them to everyone!

Has anyone here dealt with any issues regarding salt at the Atrium Hotel? I'd love to hear if anyone else has had similar experiences... thanks in advance.

Henry Wood4 said:I picked up some boxes at Target, and they're actually great—not too pricey either. Now, does anyone happen to know where I can track down some white and green decorative tulle? I'm looking to use it to spruce up the house and maybe even decorate the car....

You can find all of that over at Ira Commerce, though you'll have to spend a little minimum $100 if you're looking through their wedding packages; otherwise, you'd need to bill it to a business or a firm. You might also have some luck at Rose Commerce over in Meadow near Dakota, or perhaps check out IBM over in Pazdigrad....

Henry Wood4 said:Could you give me an idea of the approximate dimensions for those boxes? I just want to make sure they aren't oversized—I mean, who on earth is going to fill them with cookies if they’re too big? I actually gave Target a call and they confirmed they have them in stock... thanks!

From what I recall, they weren't overly huge, though they do come in a few different sizes. Might be worth swinging by there to check them out for yourself, just don't forget your debit card...😉

I picked mine up at Walmart last time, maybe check there...
