Why doesn't God share His knowledge? in Religion ·
Susan Green15 said:What could possibly be the noble reasoning behind an omniscient God choosing not to share the kind of knowledge that could save millions of lives or simply make our existence less of a struggle?
During the Middle Ages, countless millions perished from the plague and various other ailments, not to mention the periods of famine caused by things like potato blight wiping out crops.
Why didn't God explain the mechanics of the plague or how to treat it, instead just watching silently as millions died, leaving us to stumble upon the cures entirely on our own?

Why do people continue to praise Jesus for miraculous healings rather than criticizing him for using his knowledge and abilities for his own promotion and glory, instead of teaching humanity medicine so we could actually heal ourselves—both in greater numbers and long after his passing?

Exactly. Why doesn't Superman just share everything he knows?

Leo Tolstoy once observed:
To get back to the point... I’m certainly no theologian, but seeing this topic sparked a few lingering questions in my mind:
Doesn't knowledge actually distance us from God?

Not at all. If God truly exists, then seeking knowledge and uncovering the truth can only serve to draw us closer to Him.

Actually, it’s the exact opposite. There’s definitely a link between education and atheism—the more people actually know, the harder it is to sell them fairy tales.

The less educated someone is, the easier they are to manipulate. You see it all the time, like how religion is way more prevalent in rural areas than in big cities.

Best regards,

So, Jesus, Allah, and Buddha are all the same thing?

How do you even know He's actually real? You guys buddies on Facebook or something? 😂🤣

Greetings.

Yeah, you're totally right. We should definitely measure God against Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, and Pokémon instead. 😉

briskotter192 said:Since you claim God has chosen you—which, granted, isn't an impossible feat—could you perhaps clarify something for us? Is God a single person, a Trinity of three persons, or merely some sort of cosmic force?

Do you honestly believe God doesn't exist?

You couldn't be more wrong.

You'll encounter Him sooner or later.

Regards,

I know, but I can't say too much. You gotta keep believers in the dark and scared... that's why they're always threatening them with some upcoming Apocalypse, and the Bible is so vague even the priests can't make sense of it. Believers aren't supposed to think for themselves; they just have to listen. That's the only way to control them and drain their wallets.
Then there's that whole "Divide and conquer" thing, but I shouldn't go too deep on that...

He isn't some eternal being, as I've already stated.

The truth is that God gave harsh laws in the Old Testament, but Jesus rejected them in the New Testament and provided new ones.

Everything Jesus said and commanded is right there in the Bible, so let's not keep repeating ourselves.

As for knowledge, God will demonstrate His power in this era as well, and you will see for yourselves.

Why hasn't God revealed certain knowledge before?

What would Galileo have had to say back then?
Or Copernicus?

Or Newton?

Or Einstein?

They wouldn't have had anything to talk about, because the very things they are famous for would have already been discovered.

How did the universe actually begin?

We don't even know that yet, do we?

Perhaps God will choose someone once again to reveal that to us.

One never knows.

Regards

God picked me to deliver His messages, so yeah, it's me.
Anyone who doesn't listen is gonna face God's wrath.
First thing's first: stop giving money to priests. It's a sin against God.

Poor folks shouldn't be handing cash over to those filthy rich priests. Amen!

Nobody’s ever seen or heard him, so can you prove God exists?

I’m telling you there’s a six-headed dragon living in the sky that breathes fire and pees rain... can you prove that dragon isn't real?

God can't split up knowledge because it just doesn't exist... 🙂

Listen up, fellow Americans. Stop sending your kids to church alone, and seriously, stop giving them any pocket money. Those people have way more than we do:

The father is just as much a failure as the Church itself because they didn't report the abuser to the police. And the fallout? That same priest is still out there serving as a parish priest in rural West Virginia today...

You missed my point. Of course he needs to be reported, but I wanted to give him a piece of my mind first. And newsflash, I'm no saint... 😉

Tell me exactly where this idiot is so I can go help some other parents.

Here's another one, fresh off the press:

Bryan Kern7 said:I noticed that not a single victim has spoken up on this thread yet, so I guess I'll go first.

When I was thirteen, a priest in my parish tried to rape me. I feel incredibly lucky that he didn't succeed in what he was planning... but I later found out he was doing this constantly. My then-friend's sister was one of his victims, too. When her family actually tried to report him, they were met with a warning from the Church stating that if they went through with it, they would be excommunicated and branded for life. I don't know if they eventually reached some kind of settlement to keep their mouths shut, but that was the threat.
The priest was young, maybe around thirty, and he had been hired to teach religion at the local elementary school. It wasn't until several girls and their families complained to the principal about him touching them inappropriately that he finally lost his job and was transferred to a different parish.
I heard that in that second parish, he tried the same thing with another girl, but her father handled it in a much more "direct" way since the Church refused to do anything. He beat the man like a dog, after which the priest was shuffled off to yet another parish.
The last time I saw him was during a papal visit in Los Angeles; he was still in his priestly robes. He actually recognized me and had the nerve to praise me, mentioning how well things were going in his new parish.
After that, it hit me: the Church is never going to change. They will always protect their own, no matter the cost.

An experience like that absolutely destroys a child and leaves a mark that lasts a lifetime. When you're a kid and you believe in a priest—someone you confess to, someone you truly see as a representative of God's will on earth—once that trust is broken, nothing is ever the same again.
Of course, they are humans and sinners just like everyone else, but when you're a child, you don't see it that way. You can't even fathom that they are capable of such things. And you can bet your life that a parent's last thought would ever be to let their child be alone with a priest, because they know he could absolutely wreck them.

Bottom line: we need much stricter punishments for pedophilia. Honestly, the Pope should consider allowing priests to marry; that might solve at least part of the problems that stem from celibacy.

That bolded part is the only real cure for a pedophile priest. Even God told that angry father to beat him, and it worked—that priest never touched another girl again.

The Pope recently called for people to come forward and report pedophilia, which feels pretty ironic given the history of punishing those involved:

And honestly, it wasn't much of a winning argument.

What I said back then still stands:

So, to put it simply: just by receiving the letters we're discussing here, the recipient doesn't actually know anything about a crime being committed and has zero knowledge of the specifics.

All they know is that there are letters. That’s it. 🤷

Parents were sending him those letters because they trusted him. He blew that trust, and then the parents started reporting things to the police.
Regardless, after dozens of these letters, he WAS REQUIRED to notify the police that there was REASONABLE SUSPICION OF A CRIME BEING COMMITTED.

How are we supposed to expect Bozanic to report pedophilia when even the Pope is protecting them?

electricorca112 said:But why on earth would the Church be required to report them to secular authorities?

Where exactly does it say they have to do that?

Think about it—why would any employer be obligated to report their employees (for any kind of misconduct, not just pedophilia) based solely on some letters or accusations?

And who do you think should be the one reporting pedophilia to the police, if not the victims themselves (or their parents, since we're talking about minors)?

What exactly are you asking there?

Or, let me rephrase:

What part of "every person is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law" is confusing to you? 🤷

Sounds like you were taught in church to cover up crimes and dodge the law. If there’s actual suspicion that a crime happened—and we're talking about dozens of parents who went to Bozanic with complaints—then you call the police. It's their job to investigate what actually went down, not yours to play judge and jury based on your own biased conclusions...

Drago Ljubicic is currently a convicted pedophile, but he wasn't that back when the Catholic Church was moving him around.

Back then, he was just a guy dealing with a massive influx of complaint letters.

So, strictly speaking in a legal sense—at that time he was innocent.

If anyone’s manipulating anything here, it’s you priests.

A killer is a killer the moment they kill, not after some trial wraps up. A trial can drag on for years... it's wild how you suddenly care about "legal definitions" now, while Puljić basically says those rules don't apply to you guys. Such cynical hypocrites... honestly...

bluemarlin19 said:So, legally speaking, the Church knew about the accusations. Instead of handing them over to the police, they just moved the priest to Rab, where the parents ended up reporting him themselves in the end.

What would you call that—legally speaking?

Legally, that's a crime.

Basically, Father Ljubicic served as a parish priest in Novalj on Pag until 2001. He probably would’ve stayed there indefinitely if the local pastors hadn't started sending anonymous letters to the Krk bishop at the time, accusing him of being a predator toward their kids.
In 2001, Father Ljubicic was suddenly transferred over to the island of Rab.
Apparently, the Monsignor didn't get the hint—or maybe he took it too literally—because he kept up his "exemplary" behavior with children on Rab, which eventually caught up to him in 2007 when he ended up in police custody.

My bad, I forgot to mention who held the position of Krk bishop from 1989 to 2003—the illustrious Cardinal Joseph Bozanic.

Facts. Bozanic, the guy who shuffled a proven pedophile around, is ten times worse than the actual sicko. A sick individual lacks control over their impulses and ruins the lives of the kids around them; they need to be isolated and "helped" to stay restrained.
But the real villains are those who let the Holy See allow people like this to continue their twisted work. Parents share the blame too, if they turn a blind eye because they're banking on God's help to prevent such things from happening in His houses of worship.

It’s pretty stupid to chase a snake while ignoring the person who let it loose in the first place; they’ll just let it out again.

The pedophile is actually a smaller issue in this whole mess than the people in charge who know what's going on and intentionally do nothing for their own benefit.

He's definitely guilty too.

silentraven78 said:Is there any actual proof that Bozanic is directly responsible for moving that specific pedophile? Like, does anyone have evidence he knew the guy was "problematic" at the time and moved him specifically because of it?
