The Power of Manifestation in Psychology ·
I honestly don't get why people are so quick to attack books like The Secret and similar titles. They clearly help people in some way—if they didn't, wouldn't they be this popular? In an era where we're constantly bombarded by crises, tragedies, and endless bad news from every angle, isn't it good to have something that offers a bit of optimism, motivates us, and gives us hope?
Of course, The Secret doesn't possess any magical powers. I don't think anyone smart actually believes you can just wish for, I don't know, a mountain of cash while lounging on your sofa and expect it to just fall from the sky 🙄. But what's the harm in trying to approach life with a positive mindset?
Personally, I feel much better when I try to think positively and reassure myself that things will improve, even during really tough times. For me, having a sense of humor has been what helped me get through so many crises. The situation remains what it is regardless of whether I despair over it or not, so if I push through with positivity, at least I'll feel better. What's wrong with that? 🤷Positive thinking doesn't perform miracles on its own, but it does create a good mood, desire, willpower, and the motivation to reach a goal. If I give it my all and work incredibly hard for what I want, who's to say I won't achieve it? Every success is built on hard work, effort, and sacrifice, and you need a massive amount of desire to fuel all of that! So how can desire have no power? If someone told me my desires were powerless, it would imply I have zero control over my own life and destiny, which would mean life is meaningless... I'm just not buying that. To me, believing in myself and my ability to achieve my dreams is a real driver.
Anyway, I guess I went on a bit of a rant there 🙂
