Why would anyone actually want to be a Reddit moderator?

Everything they can't quite pull off in real life, they end up doing right here, you know? It’s like they're trying to fill some kind of void left by their actual lives. Just pure, simple frustration. Like, if I can't get my own house in order, I'll go try to organize everything on an internet forum instead! Haha, maybe I'm getting too deep into this... but you see, some moderators are totally chill, some are super strict, and then there are those who act like they're full-on NYPD officers. You can actually get a pretty decent sense of what kind of person someone is based on how they handle things in that role. Now, obviously, you shouldn't judge someone's entire soul just by how they moderate a thread, but you definitely form a mental picture, right? For me, it’s actually kind of fun to watch the admins in the chat or the mods on the boards. If they're active enough that you can read their regular posts, you can start connecting the dots between their personality and their moderation style. It gives you a little window into who they really are and what might be eating at them. It’s all so interconnected, really.
Just wanted to clarify—I'm not saying everyone is like this, but it feels like the vast majority.
