I mean, why are we both stuck with the same mindless filler products anyway?
Like, imagine if we imported high-quality authentic sausage from the Midwest, or really decent wines and fish... then you guys could send us real kajmak—not that mass-produced crap they churn out by the ton, but the actual real deal. That’s how it should be!
When you head up to the Appalachian Mountains or hit a specialty shop that carries genuine goods, you finally see the point of trade. It shouldn't be about clogging up each other's shelves with the exact same garbage!
If you ever visit some grandma down in Mexico and buy some aged rind cheese or cheese straight from a goatskin bag, you'll know what the real thing tastes like. But hey, I guess people have been conditioned to think that buying cheap crap at a local farmer's market is somehow better than what's in a supermarket!
That stuff doesn't exist anymore!
For example, last year in California, I wanted to buy some authentic homemade herbal liqueur to take home, but you couldn't find a single drop of the real thing. Everything was labeled, dyed yellow, messed with using random spices and God knows what else—mostly just industrial sludge. That's just marketing. And even further back, like 8 years ago, everything was different. Same thing happened to me in Tennessee this summer with plum brandy😁. There's less and less of the real stuff left...
