What the hell—so you're basically trying to delete system files? Those "annoying" files are actually necessary and should stay hidden. Just go into your folder options and turn off "show hidden files" before you end up completely nuking your OS by messing with stuff you don't understand.
And one more thing—thanks a million, seriously haha. All those files were popping up everywhere on my PC and I legit thought I had a massive virus... finally feels like my computer is back to normal.😁

Wait, what are they even doing on my D drive? Shouldn't all that stuff just be on C...? And why the hell is my memory filling up because of them... :/ fine, I did it and the files are hidden now 😁 at least they aren't staring me in the face anymore, thanks lol
Larry Ortiz5 said:Grab any important files you have on that D drive that you actually want to keep—move them to an external hard drive, a thumb drive, or maybe another partition if you can. Once that's done, run a quick format on the D partition. That should clear the whole mess up.
Nope, didn't work... everything's gone except for those "ghost" files... :/
So, I’ve got this weird issue with my D drive... basically, sitting right next to my actual photos and files, there are these faded Recycle Bin folders and some "System Volume Information" stuff. There's also an ID.me folder with a VLC icon, and even a random "My Computer" icon just hanging out there. The thing is—whenever I try to delete them, they just pop right back up. Plus, sometimes it looks like the drive is totally full even though I haven't added anything new, but once I wipe those folders, everything goes back to normal.
I'm stuck... I was thinking about using CleanMyMac to run a disk cleanup—just hitting the D drive and nuking everything on it. Is that actually safe? Or is it going to mess up the rest of my PC?

So if nothing is certain, how did they not just tell her straight up whether she was positive or not at that American Red Cross lab? Instead, they just hand us this "one tiny marker that might suggest she has Hep"... I mean, I don't get it -_-
So, here’s the deal—a friend of mine went to a private clinic to get tested for HIV, Hep B, and Hep C, and man, she paid through the nose for it. The results came back negative for all three. But get this: the day before her testing, she actually went to the American Red Cross to donate blood. Fast forward seven days, and they call her from the Red Cross to tell her they flagged a tiny little marker that could indicate Hepatitis B. Now she’s headed back for more bloodwork because that’s what they told her to do, and she's just sitting there waiting for the results. Is it even possible to test positive if her initial tests were totally clear?

No misunderstanding—I made it clear I already did that. Just thinking ahead in case someone else jumps in with advice. 🎉

Thanks anyway—appreciate you taking the time to help me out.🙂
William Richardson12 said:Then you're stuck trying to run a macOS repair if you actually know your way around—otherwise, just call a pro who does. 🤷
That sounds like total gibberish to me 😁 I won't be able to get to that for a few days... is it fine to just leave the computer running like this in the meantime?
Mind you, I did try one thing—I typed %systemroot%\system32\rstrui.exe into a new task and followed the prompts... I rolled it back to a restore point from a few days ago, but after everything finished and the machine rebooted, nothing changed. Still the same mess. 😁
William Richardson12 said:Look, just grab Malwarebytes, run a full scan, and scrub the system clean.
Already did. Found like 1,650 infected files—or whatever they call them—and wiped them all out. Rebooted the laptop too. Still nothing. Everything's exactly the same :/
William Richardson12 said:Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to pull up Task Manager—look for "New Task" at the bottom, type in explorer.exe, and hit enter.
But nothing happened—it just popped open My Computer and everything else is still just a black screen :O
Alright, here’s the deal—my laptop died on me, my charger slipped out, and I just plugged it back in and tried to reboot. Once it finally kicked on, everything seemed fine at first, but then this "My Computer" window just popped up out of nowhere. When I closed it, the whole screen went pitch black—literally nothing but a white mouse cursor floating in the void. I tried a hard restart, and again, "My Computer" pops up, and I managed to get online through it, but if I minimize any windows, it's just a black screen and a cursor. Is my OS trashed or did the hardware actually die on me?? :O
I have zero clue what I just did... haha. I've had CCleaner for ages but finally actually fired it up—ran the analysis, hit "Run Cleaner," and now everything is just... deleting. The thing is, it’s taking forever on my machine.
Is it safe to dive into the registry settings too and do the same thing, or is that asking for trouble?
Thanks a ton y'all 😁
You hit the nail on the head right out of the gate... Anyway, sorry for the sarcasm—blame it on my hormones, I guess. 😁 some monster is taking over my personality... honestly, trying to understand women is a losing game.
Found the photos, yay. But now I’m stuck wondering if I should move them back to the D: drive or whatever... I named the folder ARCHIVE 😁 because seeing nothing but RECYCLE BIN and System Volume Information made me go pale... and by pale, I mean those folders are just haunting me. They won't delete. Now my archive is totally empty... except for those two weirdos.
I moved everything to my desktop, but I feel like you've totally messed with my head—now I'm paranoid the whole system is gonna crash out of nowhere and wipe everything clean 😁
Thanks, though (see? there's a shred of gratitude left in me) 🙂
Joe. You really saved my skin. Seriously, thanks. How did I not think of that sooner??? 🙏
-_-
I don't want to wreck the whole system—my laptop actually runs fine and isn't lagging or anything—it just drives me nuts how messy everything is. Plus, some jerk deleted my photos. And honestly? I've got no clue if this antivirus is even doing its job. 🎉
Look, I honestly don't know the first thing about computers. I tried looking for a category that fits my mess, but since I have a bunch of different issues, I figured I'd just start a new thread here. 😁
I know some of this is gonna sound ridiculous, but I really need some help.
Basically, I haven't had anyone touch my system for maybe four years—not that it crashed or anything. But this laptop is a total disaster zone because I lent it out to a few people for a year. I tried deleting some programs, but now I'm paranoid I'll accidentally nuked something vital. What’s the move to clean this thing up without breaking everything? How am I supposed to know if I'm deleting a movie player or some critical Windows component Windows O?
Second thing—way back when, I moved some photos and music into that protected partition used during system recovery... and it was fine at first. But then, eventually, all my photos just vanished. I don't know if a virus ate them or what, but the music is still there. Is there any way to get those pictures back? Also, the system keeps insisting that partition is full when it definitely isn't -_- any ideas?
Thirdly, my antivirus is also from like four years ago, right after I had the system reinstalled. It's Avira. Should I ditch it for something else or is this old thing actually doing its job?
Thanks 😁
