So, I’ve got this weird issue with my D drive... basically, sitting right next to my actual photos and files, there are these faded Recycle Bin folders and some "System Volume Information" stuff. There's also an ID.me folder with a VLC icon, and even a random "My Computer" icon just hanging out there. The thing is—whenever I try to delete them, they just pop right back up. Plus, sometimes it looks like the drive is totally full even though I haven't added anything new, but once I wipe those folders, everything goes back to normal.
I'm stuck... I was thinking about using CleanMyMac to run a disk cleanup—just hitting the D drive and nuking everything on it. Is that actually safe? Or is it going to mess up the rest of my PC?

Any critical files you have sitting on your D drive that you want to keep —go ahead and move those over to an external hard drive, a thumb drive, or maybe even a different partition if you can manage it. Once you've got everything safely tucked away, just run a quick format on that D partition, and that should hopefully clear things right up.

Nope, didn't work... everything's gone except for those "ghost" files... :/

🤦

Good grief, it looks like you're trying to wipe out essential system files! Those "ghost" files are actually vital components that should stay hidden for a reason. Honestly, if I were you, I'd just head over to your folder options and toggle off the setting to show hidden files before you accidentally wreck the whole OS by poking around where you shouldn't be.

What the hell—so you're basically trying to delete system files? Those "annoying" files are actually necessary and *should* be hidden. Just go into your Folder Options and turn off "Show hidden files" before you seriously wreck your OS by messing with stuff you don't understand.

Wait, what are they even doing on my D drive? Shouldn't all that stuff just be on C...? And why the hell is my memory filling up because of them... :/ fine, I did it and the files are hidden now 😁 at least they aren't staring me in the face anymore, thanks lol

And one more thing—thanks a million, seriously haha. All those files were popping up everywhere on my PC and I legit thought I had a massive virus... finally feels like my computer is back to normal.😁

You aren't going to be able to clear out your memory by messing with system files, because if you start poking around in there, you'll just end up breaking everything and leaving your computer unable to run properly like it should, so I'd definitely suggest looking for the root cause somewhere else instead of touching those core files
