Why doesn't God share His knowledge? in Religion ·
Andrew Robinson9 said:I'm not quite sure what you meant by that example, but I should point out that complex numbers are actually used extensively in quantum mechanics.

Look, the imaginary part of a complex number is just that—imaginary. It’s a conceptual tool, not a physical reality. To me, it's exactly like how people view God in religion. We invented the concept of (i) just to make sense of negative square roots. It's no different than how people invented God to explain things like the Sun or how nature works.

@Benjamin Taylor6:
Regarding Pavuna, I’ll be blunt: I don't buy it. I don't trust him. He can talk until he's blue in the face, but I won't believe a word until I see the proof with my own eyes. And even then, it won't be about "believing"—it will be about knowing. I still haven't forgotten that interview with Radman about the elixir of youth on NBC. When the host finally asked if he believed in God, he started stuttering and hesitating like this—"uh, well, um..."—before stumbling out an answer. I won't even mention how much he was sweating. If that's his idea of faith, you can imagine how little confidence I have in his convictions. I'll leave the rest for the public to judge.

Hey rapidbear65 (don't take this personally), I'm not even mad. People call me a villain, a devil worshiper, and god knows what else just because I won't join their massive Christian cult. Honestly, I don't hold it against them.

Look, math doesn't always have to follow the rules of physics—that’s exactly why we have complex numbers to handle square roots of negative values.

Yes

I don't need to spend my time trying to convince myself that Jesus wasn't a historical figure. I already know he never existed. Mathematically speaking, I equate Jesus to the imaginary unit in a set of complex numbers.

@silentridge8: So, what, we’re supposed to just swallow everything Ivancic writes because he’s some big-shot academic? In another article—written by an atheist, mind you—he presents the exact same evidence that Ivancic uses, leaving the reader to decide for themselves if it holds water. Get it now? The only difference is that you and people like you have to swallow the crap everyone else left behind just so you can feel superior in your faith. I don't have to play along. Is that clear enough for you?

@rapidbear65: Spot on. You can't force me to believe in something I can't see, touch, hear, or verify through actual observation. If it hasn't been witnessed, learned by human reason, and backed up by natural and physical evidence, it isn't real to me.

@silentridge8: I know exactly what you're getting at. Honestly, you aren't saying anything different from me 😁.

Do you even grasp the distinction between "believing" and actually knowing? You claim: "most historians today believe that Jesus..." Look, honey, I couldn't care less what anyone chooses to believe. I don't buy into those fairy tales, and that’s what matters most to me. Most people will follow the crowd—let them. As for that slim little atheist manifesto that dismantled all of Miller's lies, at least the author cited his sources while systematically tearing his arguments apart. Whether you liked it or not is irrelevant. Your church is just out for your wallet.
Why doesn't God share His knowledge? in Religion ·
Ivancic laid out what he claims is undeniable proof regarding the existence of Jesus. Of course, other people—mostly historians—actually looked at that evidence, applied actual logic, and used scientific reasoning to dismantle his lies. I don't know why you guys struggle so much to grasp that...

@silentridge8: You're talking about the exact same "undeniable" evidence that you believers were clinging to just a moment ago.

Do you even realize that science isn't in the business of proving the existence of God or Jesus??
Don't you get that you can't prove something that doesn't exist and never did??
Do you understand that when those texts from theologians, priests, and other believers about the "proven existence of the Almighty" are published, and you try to label them as "scientific facts," they are debunked instantly? They are never, ever used to explain the laws of nature or physics!

@silentridge8: It’s not just about that one video (Zeitgeist). Sure, it might spark some logical thinking, but frankly, I couldn't care less what those people actually do. Take this text, for example—it tackles the whole issue head-on. Even if you won't bother clicking the link, let alone reading it, it doesn't matter. Just look at the bibliography at the bottom; it's massive, and every single book is backed by solid historical and scientific evidence. No question about it.

@Benjamin Taylor6: How exactly are you defining a calling? Look, I have a friend who's heading into the ministry because he claims he heard God's call. Personally, I think he's lying to himself; that "calling" exists solely inside his own head.

Look, man, nobody is whispering in anyone's ear. There are smart people and there are idiots; all it takes is one tiny spark to send someone spiraling into total madness or turning them into a world-class genius. That Freddy Hoyle guy might have been brilliant in a lot of ways, but he decided his intellect was a gift from God. Honestly, it’s no surprise how things turned out...

I honestly don't get why you're giving me such a hard time:

"After thousands of years of fanaticism—generations upon generations of Christian apologists, theologians, priests, and monks grinding away, all backed by massive amounts of Vatican money—we finally get this little booklet claiming to be the ultimate proof that Jesus Christ was a real historical figure. I’m looking at 'Jesus of Nazareth as a Historical Figure' by Tomislav Ivančić, a doctor of theology from the famous Gregorian University in Rome, just to show you how they approach the whole debate over whether Jesus actually existed. This tiny book tries to answer the single question that holds the entire Church and all organized religion together: What do we actually know for sure about Jesus of Nazareth, the man who declared himself the Christ - Messiah? Are there any eyewitness accounts from the Age of Jesus at all? Positive or negative, it doesn't matter. "

That's the intro to a book that takes every single one of Tomislav Ivančić's 'proofs' and lays them out with a solid historical breakdown. Do you see what I'm getting at here??

If you ask me, consciousness isn't just matter. That’s how you define matter, anyway. Which means consciousness simply flickers in and out of existence 🙂—it can't just morph into some other state of being.

silentridge8 said:I can't say I'm surprised by this one. 🙂

If someone spends their time writing books exploring whether a historical figure actually lived up to an idealized version of themselves, then writing a book just to claim "that ideal isn't historical" is nothing more than a joke. 🙂

It's like if someone wrote a whole book about how powerful a Mercedes-Benz engine is based on the specs on the official Mercedes-Benz website, and then I decided to write a book titled "Mercedes-Benz doesn't exist." 😂

Look, I wasn't planning on arguing with you about this, but I don't want to come off as rude, so here's the bottom line: Ivancic wrote that book right here under this title. In it, Ivancic lists all the "irrefutable evidence" proving that Jesus of Nazareth was a real person. I actually did some digging and found a text that takes every single one of Ivancic's "proofs" and explains them for what they actually are—no twisting facts, no lies, and no religious dogma—and every single piece of evidence points away from Jesus existing. But honestly, it doesn't matter; you're already convinced Ivancic is right, and that's clearly the only thing you care about. 👍

silentridge8 said:...so, when are you actually going to provide a definition of reality that isn't just some New Age platitude? 🤣

Ivancic isn't claiming Jesus wasn't a historical figure; he's arguing that certain Jewish groups at the time denied He was the Messiah. It's typical to swap terms around like that, but I'm glad you finally realized that original sin isn't about geography or cardinal directions—it's about the Fall itself. 😉

I guess you and I are never going to settle who’s actually right here. What’s your take? haha. We'll only find out if you happen to be right and we're both fully aware of it 🙂

I’m dealing with the exact same virus issue. I’m using Firefox.

Dead for a few hours? Look, I haven't been there myself, but I know people who were hovering right on the edge for two or three minutes. That’s just my take on it. I am 100% certain that death is nothing more than eternal rest, which is why you have to fight like hell to stay alive as long as possible. It’s a proven fact that keeping the mind sharp through constant learning—even when you're in your 80s, 90s, or 100s—boosts brain activity. It basically extends your "lifespan" and helps ward off Alzheimer's.🙂
Why doesn't God share His knowledge? in Religion ·
Exactly. It proves they’re actually taking action on this.

Look, who can really say? I don’t claim to be an expert since I’ve never studied dream theory, nor do I know anyone who has. You can dive into it yourself if you're obsessed, but studying this should be based on hard science, not just some random people's theories or guesses. My take? Death is just like one of those nights you spend tossing and turning, only to wake up with zero memory of ever falling asleep—it's absolute nothingness. Pure void. We've all been there; everyone has woken up at least once feeling like they slept through a whole movie but can't recall a single frame. I'm pretty sure we dream every single time we sleep; we just rarely have the sense to remember it. Personally, I used to have vivid dreams all the time when I was a kid, but that's mostly faded now.
Why doesn't God share His knowledge? in Religion ·
I’m dealing with some technical glitches on Reddit. As for the dream stuff, I still consider dreaming my ultimate goal. Honestly, I could probably be terrified by them quite often, but I'm not about to waste my energy digging into the "how" and "why" behind every nightmare. I much prefer just waking up and moving on. There’s definitely an explanation out there somewhere; you just have to look 🙂
Why doesn't God share His knowledge? in Religion ·
It’s haunting. Here is how my dream goes down: I am 100% aware that I’m dreaming, and I can feel these other people around me. Let’s just call them "aliens" 😁. I try to get up, but I can't move. I try to move my hands, my legs—everything—but I’m completely paralyzed. It feels like they are physically holding me down while I just stare at them. They look like nothing more than shadows. Eventually, I get so terrified that everything just snaps; the shadows vanish, and I bolt wide awake. It is genuinely chilling, though if you actually understand what's happening, it isn't a huge deal. You can technically do whatever you want in that state, like having sex with anyone you can imagine. Personally, though, I much prefer it when I don't remember my dreams at all 😁
Why doesn't God share His knowledge? in Religion ·
So you're curious about astral projection. I've been there myself, experiencing those vivid dreams firsthand. If you sharpen your focus enough, you can actually take the wheel and control them. But you have to be incredibly careful; one wrong move and the whole experience goes off the rails. One time, I was essentially communicating with extraterrestrials—let's call them that—and another time, I was soaring over my own city, seeing every single detail, from the streets to the cars passing by. I know exactly what this is and why it happens, even if most people are still struggling to wrap their heads around it. Personally, nothing beats falling asleep without any dream interference; that's when I feel truly rested 🙂. Check out the link and read the comments to see how many others have had similar experiences 🙂
