Rebecca Vaughn7, please don't cry—you’ve actually got me feeling a bit misty-eyed here! It is just so incredibly frustrating when things won't get sorted out, isn't it? I feel exactly the same way as you—truly. I am just sitting here, all miffed and annoyed because my husband has completely neglected his dental health. He has this massive inflammation going on, and honestly, it's scary because if you ignore your teeth, that infection can easily migrate into your bloodstream—it's a serious thing!
He keeps making all these promises, but nothing ever changes. At this rate, he's looking at having at least three teeth pulled—minimum! I suspect he’s just terrified of the discomfort of the dentist's chair, or maybe he just doesn't care that I'm worrying myself sick over it... it feels like we have to practically hold their hands and drag them to the doctor. I told my husband that once the baby arrives, I really need him to be my partner and support system, not someone I have to mother just as much as myself! It ends up being exactly like that. Sometimes he’s wonderful, but when it comes to medical stuff, he falls right into that classic male trap of avoiding the doctor at all costs...
mistyskipper17... just a little piece of advice from my corner of the world—I truly believe your girlfriend is being sincere here and isn't just looking for an excuse to avoid intimacy. I’m actually pregnant myself right now, and while my own drive has been... well, non-existent (I practically have to force myself sometimes!), I think she might be feeling exactly what I am—a bit of anxiety regarding the baby's safety. Honestly, if I were in your shoes, I’d suggest going together to her next OB-GYN appointment. Just show up, sit in that waiting room, and then once you're in the exam room, lay all your cards on the table—both the valid worries and the silly, irrational ones. I suspect the doctor will reassure you both that it is perfectly safe to be intimate without any risk to the little one... anyway, I hope that helps even just a tiny bit. Good luck to you both...
Hi ladies! I just wanted to send a big, warm hello to everyone—and honestly, I agree with absolutely everything you all are saying here. I haven't read every single post yet, but goodness, from the moment I was born—well, figuratively speaking—I’ve been dealing with people giving me "advice" like, "Oh, just make sure the baby is healthy and normal!" Like, duh? Of course! Every pregnant woman wants a healthy baby, but it’s just so unnecessary to state the obvious. And then there’s the food advice... personally, I’m not much of a meat eater. I don't mind if someone else is enjoying a steak—it smells lovely, really—but it just doesn't sit right with me; I’d much rather stick to cheese and dairy products. And oh my goodness, the comments about my belly! If I could, I would just give anyone who makes a comment about how "big" my stomach is a little piece of my mind. Or when they used to tell me, "Oh, but you were always so thin!" Honestly, people, just leave us alone! Pregnant women know what’s best for themselves and their little ones better than anyone else. You all are wonderful, and since I’m new here, I won't take up too much of your time... bye! Sending a huge, huge hello to everyone... oh, and ladies, does anyone know how to find the smiley face icon? I can't seem to find it on this computer anywhere... Harold Howard4.
