So, I had this totally surreal encounter the other day that I’m still trying to wrap my head around... I was just walking through downtown, minding my own business, when I run right into my mom's aunt, and she just comes at me out of nowhere like a cannonball. She looks me dead in the eye and goes, "Honey, are you absolutely sure you're only carrying one baby? Because from where I'm standing, it looks like there are more than one in there," and then follows it up with, "Goodness, look how much weight you've put on!" I mean, really? This woman, who easily tips the scales at 260 pounds, is looking at me—while I'm pregnant—telling me *I'm* fat. And the kicker? Her own daughters haven't even gone into labor yet, and they're all hovering around the 220 mark themselves. Honestly, it's just wild 😕
Does it ever just drive you crazy when you mention you’re feeling under the weather, only to have everyone immediately jump in to claim they’re in even more pain than you are?
I honestly don’t get why everyone is even bothering with all this nonsense, because I’m really just sitting back to see how certain people react once they hear it’s another girl... and frankly, thank God for that, since ever since my first pregnancy, there have been people who wouldn't even speak to me because they were so obsessed with what I was carrying, at least until I finally lost my temper and decided to stop playing nice, so I highly doubt anyone is going to be brave enough to pry this time around. I am perfectly happy knowing I'll have two daughters, just as much as if I had sons or a mix or whatever else life throws at me, as long as the baby is born healthy and strong... as for everyone else, who cares? 😍😍😍😍
brightotter14, don't even worry about it, you hit the nail right on the head. Honestly, I haven't the slightest clue how anyone would navigate life with someone like that either, though I suppose some people just don't care. For us, we have a daughter on the way and, well, we're still playing it by ear, waiting to see what happens today. But my mom keeps telling me she's a girl and she's just over the moon about it, and truthfully, I know he’ll be just as happy if it turns out to be a boy... because, you know, at the end of the day, it isn't all about the numbers. I actually had my mother-in-law tell me one day to stop making assumptions about the gender, saying I was going to let her son down if I acted like I knew for sure when he wasn't—and since he heard her say that, things got a little heated. He ended up being very clear with her, making it plain that there's absolutely no room for that kind of talk in this house. 😉
Honestly, don't even sweat it; people can be absolutely awful sometimes, and I mean that in the most extreme sense. Not that anyone’s really in a position to judge me, though—I barely touch makeup, and there are days when I don't even have the energy to brush my hair, let alone do anything more elaborate than just splashing some water on it to get the grease out. I can't even remember the last time I actually let my hair down, or honestly, when I was last anywhere besides my own house, aside from those little evening walks? My local corner store is right across the street, but I think it’s been months since I even stepped foot inside.

and I have a feeling it's gonna drive me absolutely insane too!!

Oh man, tell me about it, it is seriously infuriating. I even went out and bought one of those cute little maternity shirts from Target that actually has "hands off" printed right on the stomach, but does that stop people? Not even a little bit. They just laugh and give me a pat anyway, and honestly, there are days where I feel like I might just lose it and give someone a smack so hard they'd practically fly through the air...😁 😁 😁 😁

The reactions from some people close to me when I announced the pregnancy also caught me off guard—it was almost as if I told them I was heading off to war. 🙄
And they knew how much we wanted this and how long we’d been trying.
It hit me pretty hard at the time, but I’ve calmed down now and I honestly couldn't care less what they think.

Yeah, tell me about it... the insomnia, the brain fog, that constant knot in your stomach... I could probably handle all of that if my mother-in-law wasn't constantly breathing down my neck and making my life miserable every single day.🙄🙄🙄🙂🙂
🙂🙂
I don't know, I swear it drives me a little crazy sometimes, because those aren't even the only ridiculous things I have to listen to on a daily basis, though one particular gem really stands out as my favorite, and it goes: "my son was such a good kid right up until he got married"... honestly 🙂🙂
Oh, please, don't even go there with all those old wives' tales and superstitions... you might accidentally wish for something bad, and then you'll be left wondering if your little one ends up with a scar because of some silly thought you had.

Don't get distracted by anything, especially not some sick individual...

No one should ever stand right in front of you while they're hunched over and facing your way...

And apparently, you aren't allowed to bring a crib into the house until the baby is actually born...

If a pregnant woman has a difficult delivery, they say she was carrying a girl because girls supposedly steal all your beauty...

Or if you deal with heartburn during pregnancy, it’s meant to be a sign that the baby is going to have a lot of hair.

I can't even go out in the sun, otherwise, the baby will "cook" inside the amniotic fluid.

...and all that other nonsense... honestly, I live with someone who believes in this old-fashioned superstition stuff and you wouldn't believe it, though you know what gets under my skin more than anything else? It's when my mother-in-law tells me that my baby is going to "come back to life" soon... good grief...
