And why does it always hit me right in the afternoon?

It’s almost like you’re carrying five pounds of dead weight in your stomach.🤣🤣
Douglas Thomas8 said:Ever since the day we told my mother-in-law that we were leaning toward naming him Alexander, she hasn't stopped nagging us about how it sounds too traditional or old-fashioned, constantly checking in to see if we've changed our minds and throwing out a dozen different ideas. We just try to tune her out, but sometimes I feel like I'm really close to losing my cool and giving her a piece of my mind. 🤣 It feels like she's been nitpicking everything from the very beginning, and she only seems happy when things end up going exactly her way.

My own mother-in-law actually sat down and drafted a massive list of about a hundred different boy and girl names the second we told her I was pregnant.☕

And then, once I finally told her we were having a girl and gave her the specific name we had chosen, she went ahead and made *another* list—this one with fifty "most beautiful" female names. I have to reiterate: we had already clearly communicated what the name was going to be!🥳
Nathan Kelly said:No, no, when I said "she," I meant my father-in-law—since we're talking about him.

In my case, it's my boyfriend. 😉

When I brought up the gender, they just waved me off like, "As long as the kid is healthy, that's all that matters." 😳

Aha! That pregnancy brain is really kicking in, isn't it?🤦

I mean, what else am I supposed to do? Just sit here and wait? We cleared the twelve-week mark a long time ago...

Exactly. If God saw fit to let me get pregnant, surely He'll see me through the delivery too, right? It’s all part of the same journey.😳

Michael King said:Am I really the only one out there with a totally normal mother-in-law? And to make things even more interesting, we actually live under the same roof—we’re upstairs, and they’re on the ground floor.

I suppose I should just thank God for that luck.😁

Go ahead and give thanks!☕

Mine baked some rolls today and invited us over. This happened after she got some leftover casserole from my husband yesterday because she wanted to eat with them, and he told her he wouldn't eat without his wife. Can you imagine? He's eating while I'm sitting at home by myself, starving (and yes, believe it or not, *I* get hungry!), and if they want us to join them, they need to call us in the morning; otherwise, we'll just make our own food.😂 🤣
Today, the two of us were notified that the rolls would be ready around 6:00 PM.🤣
And tomorrow, my husband is working, but she’s making fish, and she even said my father-in-law can come pick me up if I need a ride—she just wants me there.😂

The real issue is her attitude. ☕

Honestly, one of these days I’m just going to snap and tell everyone: stop being such a buzzkill!

I am already completely overwhelmed enough on my own.

I have a baby girl on the way too, but he’s acting just as indifferent. He even told me once, "We'll see what happens when she's actually born." 😠

I'm just bracing myself for the moment I get home from the hospital and the endless diaper changes begin. 🙂

Oh man, I feel you. I’m nearly six months along myself, and honestly, it can be such a trip. Just the other day, I was at the grocery store when this woman comes up to me out of nowhere—total stranger—and starts asking all these intense questions. She was like, "Oh my gosh, how are you feeling? Is little Rita moving around much yet? Can you feel the baby kicking?" It’s always so surreal when people just jump right into your personal business like that!
And I mean, personally, I was just kind of sitting there thinking...😱 I honestly got chills when she said that out loud. Look, my little one has been healthy and thriving since they were six weeks old, so I really can't stand it when people come at me with those kinds of questions. It’s just exhausting.
Recipes (Keep comments in a separate thread!) in Hobbies & Leisure ·
I’ve been following this thread for a little while now, and I figured I’d jump in and share a recipe I make quite frequently. It’s always a hit at our house! I hope I’m not repeating anything already mentioned—though, knowing how much we love food, I probably am—but this is my own little twist on the concept, so here goes:
Oatmeal Veggie Patties>
First, take whatever greens you have on hand—broccoli, Swiss chard, kale, cauliflower, or spinach—give them a quick boil, drain them well, and chop them into fine pieces. Toss those into a bowl along with some oats and a handful of seasonings: a pinch of salt, some parsley, thyme, a bit of McCormick, and a dash of pepper. To bind everything together, I add a splash of plant milk and either one or two egg whites, depending on how big a batch I'm making. Mix it all thoroughly by hand; you want the texture to be supple, not stiff. Then, drop spoonfuls onto a preheated non-stick skillet without any oil and shape them into patties. Cook them until they get just a little bit golden-brown.🙂
Personally, I think these are absolutely fantastic, and the flavor combinations are endless.
Sometimes I’ll stir in some diced cooked ham, or mix up the veggie varieties, or even add a few drops of olive oil or truffle oil directly into the batter to deepen the flavor.
A quick tip: when you're frying them, grab a flat spatula. Since I don't use a ton of egg to bind the mixture, they can be a bit delicate and prone to breaking apart if you aren't careful.
