Russia's invasion of Ukraine: Part 5 in War in Ukraine ·
Fantastic—now, instead of the Ukrainians just halting right at the border with Russia once they liberate territory, I really think they should push even further.

But let's be real—they aren't perfect. They botched their last two major interventions and basically left some of their allies out to dry.
If they made a mistake like that here, it could be fatal for a lot of people in Europe.
I don't fully trust them, mostly because they're so far away, and honestly, isn't it just human nature to look out for yourself first?

They’re living pretty comfortably, sure, but they realize they have to sow seeds of discord across Eurasia; otherwise, if we actually managed to get our act together on this side of the world, they’d find themselves playing second fiddle.

Just send a few hundred thousand refugees their way through some "intervention," and boom—you've got instant chaos within the European Union.

The reality is that people are dying on the front lines, and young men are being sent into those combat zones. But there aren't many young people left to send, which might just be the beginning of the end for Russia.

PS: I can't recall if any other nation has ever surrendered solely due to airstrikes without facing a full-scale ground invasion—it reminds me of how Mexico handled things back in the day.

Japan.

Our local plants don't even bother with proper flue gas filters, so all those combustion particles just drift over the entire city.
If the city actually insisted on installing filters in these facilities, having an incinerator anywhere in town wouldn't be such a massive issue, would it?

Wait, where is that power plant located? Isn't it over by Zitnjak?

Those smokestacks are roughly 200 meters high. Now, I seem to recall back when we were doing engineering coursework about twenty years ago, we had to calculate the specific radius required from a chimney of that height to ensure particles actually reach ground level—I don't have the exact formula handy right now, but essentially, you're safest living right under the stack itself, because at least there, you're 100% certain the particulates haven't drifted your way yet.

I guess I’ll start posting an update every single time they clear our bins, since you seem so incredibly invested in this.

Over by my place near Waste Management, they show up twice a week without fail.

The bins are honestly never even full—we actually did some math once, looking at how much they charge each apartment per liter, and when you crunch those numbers, it turns out those two old bins we used to struggle with—you know, the ones that were always overflowing and impossible to lid before pickup—were barely even 50% capacity. So, we actually went ahead and asked, and they straight-up told us we were entitled to more bins! Now we have four, and we haven't had a single issue with overfilling since.

I hear they barely show up in certain neighborhoods, yet right here near Manhattan, they’ve shown up two days in a row just to empty bins that aren't even full.

In my neck of the woods, it’s always been Wednesday and Saturday early in the morning—over on Broadway. Honestly, nothing has changed one bit.

It doesn't even matter at this point; we should just cancel all of Russia entirely. Erase them from history.

Fine, sure—but if we're talking about economic sanctions, they could have gone after everything. All those Russian actors would be out of a job for nothing if there wasn't any way to monetize their nonsense.

It’s the exact same logic—if you aren't backing the Republican Party, you must be a Communist. Honestly, do you really think you get to decide what everyone else is allowed to think or say?

Oh, please. It's not about deciding; it's just that based on what people actually say and do, we'll know exactly which label to slap on them.

It’s just pure frustration stemming from one's own sense of insignificance—really. You end up idolizing Vladimir Putin because he embodies everything you aren't: a bully, someone who commands fear, and so on and so forth. It's a psychological crutch, if you ask me.

Just plain pathetic.

There are young people among the Russians too—conscripts who never even got a say about going to Ukraine. They're there simply because they have no choice.

The paranoid autocrat in the Kremlin and his followers are one thing. But those young conscripts, whose lives mean absolutely nothing to the Kremlin? That's a whole different story...

Apparently, some of them even surrendered because they were never told they’d be sent to fight in Ukraine in the first place.

The hypocrisy is actually painful.

We should probably mention that these same Americans are importing 600k barrels of oil from Russia every single day.

They stirred up those naive Ukrainians against the Russians, and once the bear actually woke up, they just left them to fend for themselves.

It's the same Americans who are still out there fighting wars all over the world that shouldn't even involve them.

Edit: Just stumbled upon a brilliant thought.

"The Russian vaccine cured COVID."

☕

Oh, please—they "egged them on"? That’s a stretch. All the rivers of the Ukrainian military were flowing right toward the Russian border, leaving Putin with absolutely no choice but to strike.

This whole thing just proves they weren't being naive by trying to distance themselves from Russia; if anything, it was quite the opposite.
Oh, please—is it possible he didn't dive left before the turn because that sivonja squeezed him right against the wall about half a mile earlier?

Hamilton's front wing was ahead of Max's front tire, and he was twitching sharply to the right. So, no, it wasn't half a car width, and it certainly wasn't at the rear tire. It was in front. Of the. Front. Tire.

Honestly, you're totally lost here. First, Max leaves an opening, and then when Lewis takes that space—only after being nearly shoved into the wall by the guy—suddenly it's Lewis's fault for "going left."

Could you try to maintain a single coherent line of reasoning for at least one post...

Hamilton is at fault according to the stewards. Mostly. He isn't the only one to blame, though.

If Max hadn't tried to squeeze him out, they wouldn't have collided. If Max hadn't pinned him like that before the turn, they wouldn't have collided.

One really just needs to look at Leclerc and Hamilton.

And as for Max, someone finally stood their ground against him—after all those little excursions we've seen this season. If only someone had managed that a few years back.

By the way, I wasn't the one who made the split-screen image. But even so, Leclerc never once squeezed Hamilton toward the wall. Max did. How close they were to the corner isn't even the main issue.

It’s a good thing we actually have video footage to look at—otherwise, people would just be making up fairy tales out of thin air...
But please, go ahead and keep believing those little stories if it makes you feel better...

Of course, Hamilton fans are going to claim there was some massive, dramatic difference between how Leclerc and Max were positioning themselves 🙂
Meanwhile, everyone else could easily see the clear distinction in how Hamilton was positioning himself...

image

Hamilton was entering the corner from a completely different line altogether.

And seriously, just take a look at this

Check it out from the 0:28 mark—you see where Hamilton was positioned, and then watch how suddenly he jerks the steering wheel to the right.

So, quite literally, he could have seen Hamilton in his rearview mirror, but that sivonja went straight to closing the door, just like he's done so many times before.
stormybadger8 said:Have you checked out the telemetry analysis yet?
The way Max and Leclerc approach the turn is basically identical...
The only real outlier is Hamilton's line.

Yeah—well, only because Max squeezed him right toward the wall earlier; Leclerc wasn't even in the same zip code.

By the way, it was actually pretty wild seeing how far back he was behind Max—on Max's onboard, you know, where the camera is mounted halfway down the chassis looking forward? You could clearly see Lewis's front wing right there in the shot.
Max is playing a dangerous game—really pushing the limits of what’s acceptable. He’s cut people off so many times lately, especially Lewis Hamilton this season, and now he’s sitting there acting like his own strategy was somehow flawed.

He squeezed Lewis Hamilton right up against the wall; there was absolutely no way he could have hit the apex from that position, which is a far cry from how Charles Leclerc handles himself.

And once again, that Red Flag was as clear as day.

One thing I just can't wrap my head around regarding the Red Flag—did they seriously just slap some duck tape onto the Mercedes-Benz race car?

shadowcobra89 said:I haven't met a single person in real life who disagrees with the idea that the Mercedes car is the most dominant thing to ever hit Formula 1. Honestly—if you find anyone who thinks otherwise, they’re probably just scrolling through TikTok during a break from reading romance novels while popping over to check out Formula 1 alongside CR and LeBron James.

The truth is, the Mercedes car hasn't been some sort of unchanging constant all these years. It isn't even the same car! The regulations have shifted drastically—it's a different game every few seasons. That massive advantage they had with their Power Unit in those early years eventually shifted toward entirely different technical areas, which you can clearly see just by looking at how the other teams performing with those engines fared.

There were certain seasons where they were absolutely crushing it—much like how McLaren was back in the late '80s—but then there were plenty of years where they weren't even close to that level of total dominance. Take 2018, for instance; they grabbed about half the wins, and for everything else, they were usually sitting right there in second place—and that's even without factoring in any random Mercedes retirements. 2017 felt pretty similar to that.
