graniteharbor502 said:George Russell's race car was actually faster than his own car 🙄
On a dry track, even Valtteri Bottas would be flying the moment those tires hit their optimal operating temperature.

Let’s not get bogged down in nonsense right now—let's just look at the actual data we have on hand.

Bottas ran without any penalties and without any issues with the car, sitting right ahead of Russell who was chasing him down. His pit stop for tires was a quick 2.2 seconds—not the 4.0 second mess Lewis Hamilton had to deal with. He qualified 8th, and he pretty much gave up right around that position.

Sergio Perez qualified 2nd, but considering he took a penalty and had that spin, his 11th place finish (or whatever happened during the race) doesn't tell us much about how fast that car truly is.

Bottas's qualifying time and his performance through lap 30—regardless of which specific lap it was—actually carry quite a bit of weight here.

If that car were a total beast, he wouldn't have struggled to climb toward the front, even starting from 8th.

So, the hierarchy seems to be Red Bull Racing, then a massive gap, then Mercedes, then another little gap, and then everyone else trailing behind.

And as for Lewis Hamilton setting that fastest lap—during a lap where he had DRS the entire length of the main straight and managed to overtake Lando Norris without even having to fight him through Tabmurelo—well, that doesn't prove anything regarding which car is actually the fastest.

Jason Campbell70 said:A race car that isn't even in point-scoring contention just handed Perez his best qualifying result ever.
Plus—get this—it gave him something like a 45-second cushion over Bottas during the stretch when Bottas was still running.
In that same window, Perez's fastest lap was actually 4.5 seconds quicker than Bottas's best.

Not too shabby for a car that’s basically out of the points conversation. 🙂

Look, Perez dealt with a penalty, and he also had that excursion off track.

Did Bottas have any issues at all?

Look, I totally get why people are losing their minds—it’s hard watching your childhood idols get overtaken by someone like Lewis Hamilton—and I get the frustration, but honestly? Sometimes the vitriol online is just straight-up disgusting.

If they actually had the superior engine, they'd be miles ahead of Mercedes—but the reality is quite the opposite, as those cars running the Mercedes-Benz power unit are showing top speeds across basically every sector.

And let's be real, Red Bull definitely doesn't have worse aerodynamics than Mercedes; honestly, I doubt they ever did, let alone this season...

Based on what you're saying, it makes it sound like Max is a total fraud compared to someone like Palmer🙄
Because frankly, I have no idea how else to explain why Red Bull—supposedly with the best engine and the best aero—isn't even significantly better than Mercedes right now; they're essentially neck-and-neck.

Honda was already outdragging the Mercedes-Benz engine last year. That’s a true display of raw power, not just top speed which can change based on how the car is set up.

Robert Cox46 said:Does that remind you of when Vettel was racing in Germany a few years back? He was out there in the rain doing something similar—pounding on the steering wheel and swearing his head off... and if I recall correctly, I think he only ended up damaging a wing (or maybe it was the suspension 🤔)

It wasn't the suspension, but even then, the area by the barrier wasn't paved gravel—it was pure loose gravel.

Though, I don't specifically remember him trying to drive in reverse.

He was just ahead because he carried way too much speed into that turn and couldn't quite make the exit. So, honestly—it was the right call to give the position back.

It’s seven hundred. Honestly, he could always claim—"Look, if he had been behind me, I would have let him pass." But well, he couldn't even say that because the guy wasn't even there!

Whoa—look at what my buddies from the auto racing scene just sent me

Same track, same corner, Lewis-Vettel situation—Lewis does the exact same thing when taking the turn and... nothing. No penalty. Honestly, this FIA...
And what exactly were they supposed to do? Wait for him to spin out just so they could let him pass? Good grief, the things you people come up with.

Adam Collins4 said:And how exactly would he go about regulating that?

Who says someone wouldn't just tighten up the regulations to shut down those arguments entirely?

You're just throwing out assumptions now—no actual arguments to back them up...

Look, let’s just focus on what I was actually getting at here...😉

Look, you’ve gone and gotten yourself tangled up in that original thesis again—the one we already established was totally debunked...

Nah, you aren't proving anything...

Unless you're trying to argue that sexual orientation is just another illness on par with everything else...☕

Look, let’s be real—infertility isn't some permanent sentence. Science actually moves faster than most people realize, and there's a genuine chance for people to have kids when they thought the door was slammed shut. It’s all about the right treatment.

When it comes to same-sex couples, that option just isn't on the table... there’s no miracle of nature or medical breakthrough out there that can hand them a child.

🤣

To whole "cause and effect" thing—and the idea of having a logical flow to an argument—is clearly a foreign concept to you...

Honestly, if you want proof of how completely detached from reality your reasoning is, just look at that ridiculous outburst regarding mothers dying during childbirth...

That’s like me turning around and claiming abandoned kids don't need families because, hey, they technically had one for a split second once...

Look, it’s the system's job to deal with parents who aren't fit for the task...

It shouldn't be about you twisting premises around just to justify giving kids away whenever people make mistakes like that...

A kid needs a mother and a father... not two guys who got bored with their lifestyle and decided to have kids just to satisfy some selfish whim...

Well, hold on now—take medicine, for instance; it has already made it possible for women to conceive using donor gametes (both sperm and eggs).

And that applies to straight couples.

It’s a perfectly standard, common practice these days.

That very same medical science has also opened the door to surrogacy—whether it's for straight couples where the woman can't carry a pregnancy, or even for MM couples, and so on. Of course, you won't find that happening here in the States...🤦

It’s pretty funny—even after getting absolutely wrecked nine times in a row during qualifying, he still manages to pull all this massive public sympathy.

He gets all that love simply because he’s such a sweetheart in interviews—total boy scout vibes. But as a driver? He’s honestly one of the most cutthroat guys out there.

Hehe, check out this little bit of throttle trace from Sebastian "tearing up his tires" Vettel 🤮

Just some classic Palmer-style education for all the fanboys out there.
F1 Montreal GP: June 7-9, 2019 in Formula 1 ·
Honestly, absolutely nothing has changed since the days when Sebastian—as he puts it—first fell head over heels for this sport.

But—and this is a big "but"—one thing has definitely shifted over this past year: his mental fragility, which was once again on full display. Ever since Hockenheim back in July of last season, Sebastian has been cracking under the pressure, making these bizarre driving errors that just don't make sense... and Sunday in Canada was more of the same. Once again, Lewis Hamilton forced him right off the track, basically proving who the superior champion is between the two of them.

Maybe Lewis wasn't supposed to take the win in the end, but that incident certainly masked the painful truth about Vettel: he simply isn't capable of putting together a flawless Formula 1 race anymore. And against a driver like Hamilton on a day like today—not to mention that superior Mercedes-Benz car—he doesn't stand a prayer of fighting for titles...

Spot on.

Formula 1 is dead. 🤣

He actually managed to build a three-second gap—until they hit him with that penalty.
F1 Montreal GP: June 7-9, 2019 in Formula 1 ·
Nico Rosberg, Jolyon Palmer, and Jolyon Palmer all agreed—the penalty was absolutely justified. It wasn’t just some snap judgment made right during the race or immediately after the checkered flag; they waited until they had actually sat down and scrutinized all the evidence.

And then there's Marc:

wiredfalcon2 said:Don't try to play games here—first you claim Vettel said he didn't see him, then you flip it and say he actually did see him... if you truly knew *when* he saw him, you wouldn't be spinning this, because Vettel never specified the exact moment he spotted him, only that he did see him.

And once again, you're dodging the most critical point while accusing Vettel of being shady—if the stewards had been Jenson Button, Nigel Mansell, and Martin Brundle, Vettel wouldn't have even faced a penalty, simply because they wouldn't have interpreted it that way.

Vettel mentioned seeing him after he had stabilized the car and noticed Hamilton was behind him.

What he failed to mention, however, is that after that initial glance, he still drifted to the right to cut him off.

Now, look—Button, Mansell, and Brundle were watching the broadcast, sure, but the stewards have access to much more data than just what we see on TV.

A further reason the stewards established was through the use of an extra CCTV camera view of the incident, which was not broadcast on the international feed, showing Vettel's Head looking in the mirrors at where Hamilton was during these moments when he was releasing the wheel to the right.

Onboard footage of the Vettel incident also shows his head looking towards the mirrors in the moment when he is drifting out, suggesting he knew where Hamilton was.
