How credible are Michael Newton's "discoveries"? in Spirituality ·
I just finished reading the first book of the soul journey in one sitting. It’s a light, engaging read. While it gave me some things to think about, I actually ended up with more questions than answers. I felt like certain topics were being glossed over. For instance, he doesn't mention whether traveling to the past is possible, given how warped time can be. Plus, in my own life, I've encountered some incredibly negative entities that didn't exactly look like loving, positive souls. Who are they really? Anyway, I'm not here to get sidetracked by that.
The book itself claims that Newton represents New Age theories. I'll include a quote from another article that managed to offend the New Age crowd—because, let's face it, how does anyone's ego handle the idea that everything they've built or worked toward might suddenly be proven wrong?
The dark side is designed to be utterly repulsive, so most “good souls” will flee to the opposite pole—either straight into the "loving" embrace of a patriarchal false-light religion, or into their version of a New Age religion filled with legions of channels and “masters.”
Furthermore,
"Every modern channeled message can be summarized in a few lines: 'Dearest ones, you are the favorites of all of us in the spiritual false-hierarchy. We long to reunite with you, for we are your long-lost family. Stay strong and hold onto your light, for we will soon announce our presence. Just wait a little longer (and suffer) in the hope that we will save you from this situation.'"
Is there actually any difference between that summary of channeled messages and almost every single conclusion drawn from Newton's sessions?

I'm not saying you shouldn't have hope for something greater than life itself; quite the opposite, that's why I'm writing this. But please, question everything. Newton clearly has knowledge, but he seems to be using it for other purposes. I still find the book interesting, but his "discoveries" just don't ring true to me. This is just my take, and I'm certainly not trying to offend anyone or push an agenda.
