Detour

Detour is a solid band. I caught them live a few years back, and they sound just as polished as their studio recordings. Their flaw? Zero stage presence. They perform like they’re singing only to themselves, which kills the energy. Still, the songwriting is top-tier and Maya has an incredible voice. She’s mostly seen in supporting roles with the Krempels troupe, but her session work is impressive. It’s always a pleasure to listen to her.
I also really enjoy the track where she features with Noxin:
What bothers me is the condescension they show toward artists in other genres; you can hear it when they talk about Yammat, too. Perhaps their talent gives them a pass, but their interviews often reveal a certain lack of cultural awareness. Maybe they shouldn't be so quick to judge others...
