Apologies in advance if I’m barking up the wrong tree here, but I couldn't find a more relevant thread.
Is a peripheral blood smear essentially the same thing as a CBC?

Is anyone else running into this same headache?

I’m doing everything by the book using IE, so it recognizes my digital certificate, I punch in my PIN, and then... nothing. Absolutely nothing. It just sits there on the landing page like it's frozen in time. 😕

I’ve already cleared out all my cookies, and I'm running genuine Windows on this machine. My card reader is working perfectly fine, too.
I honestly have no clue what the issue is. 🤷

Up until today, I’ve had zero problems accessing the IRS portal from this exact computer.

-Go to the main application landing page (the one with the Login / Registration options).
-Before you try logging in, look at the top left of the page and select Tools/Compatibility view (just a quick left-click)
-Now, try logging in.

(If the "Compatibility view" option is greyed out, you'll need to go into Compatibility view settings, paste the application's URL into the address field, click Add, and then follow the steps above again.)

- Kidney, bladder, and liver ultrasound results (I'm not sure if the previous ultrasound explicitly stated everything looked normal)
- Urine sample
- Surgical consultation
- Regularity of bowel movements—are they formed?
- Chest X-ray for heart/lungs (any coughing?)

Do you have any pets (dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, hamsters...)? Or has the child been around them?

No kidney or urinary tract ultrasound yet, and no urine test either.
He saw a surgeon, and the findings were fine (aside from a pre-existing hernia waiting for surgery, but that isn't causing any issues).
Stool is formed. At the start of this illness, there was severe diarrhea (foamy and ochre), but it didn't gradually transition; the stool went straight to being hard. Actually, he’s always had hard stools and isn't a daily mover—it's been like that since birth. We've mentioned this to the pediatrician several times, but the response is always that as long as it comes out in one solid "sausage" shape, it’s perfectly fine.
No coughing. No chest X-ray performed either.
As for pets, we have a water turtle. He doesn't touch her, though he does drop food into her tank sometimes. He stays away from dogs and cats, but at the park where he plays, dogs occasionally show up when kids aren't around, so it's possible they use the same space for bathroom breaks. We're waiting to see a gastroenterologist. The pediatrician suggests eosinophilia is usually triggered by parasites or allergies. Since there are no parasites and we haven't noticed any allergic reactions, I'm at a loss for what else could be the cause.
Do you think we need more testing?
(For the last two nights, he vomited immediately after eating a raw apple. I'm not sure if that's significant, as he hasn't reacted to any other foods like this before.)
Ashley Morris84 said:I need some help interpreting this:

A two-and-a-half-year-old had a fever hitting 104 degrees three weeks ago. Three days later, diarrhea and vomiting kicked in. (On the first day of illness, we did throat swabs; they were negative, but the infectious disease specialist suggested it might be adenovirus). Blood work was normal, showing no signs of infection. That lasted about a week.
Then, after 4-5 days, the diarrhea and vomiting returned—exclusively at night, just once per night—no fever, but accompanied by a rash on the abdomen and what I assume were cramps, because the kid was restless, his gut was making a lot of noise, and he kept shifting positions trying to find comfort while sleeping. The pediatrician concluded it’s a new intestinal virus (no tests were run) because apparently, the rash is a "characteristic" viral symptom. This second bout lasted 4-5 days. A few days after that, the child's stomach became quite bloated and a single lymph node appeared behind the ear (about 1 cm). The child is in good general health—cheerful, playful, shows no signs of pain. We went back to the infectious disease clinic (since we assume the bloating is linked to the intestinal virus that just ended). Here is the CBC result:

L 21.2 ne ly mo E 5.42 Hb 125, He 0.39, MCV 72, T 379
eosinophilia (30%).

(Physical exam was normal: liver 0, spleen 0, abdomen is meteorically distended but not tender to touch)

Stool sample and rectal swab sent for analysis (pending).
I'm wondering if this is an entirely new issue or something tied to the previous viruses? Are these results concerning?

Reiterating the question in case anyone can offer an opinion.
In the meantime, we got the stool results back—negative. Rectal swab—negative for parasites.
Abdominal ultrasound: intestines are distended and filled with cloudy content; peristalsis is normal. Increased number of mesenteric lymph nodes. All other findings are normal.
Repeat CBC:

WBC 15.2
NE% 22
LY% 32.6
MO% 6.2
EO% 38.8
NE 3.3 %
BA% 0.4
LY 5.0
MO 0.9
EO 5.9
BA 0.1

RBC 5.23
HGB 118
HCT 0.370
MCV 70.6
MCH 22.6
MCHC 319
RDW 16.0
I'm looking for some insight here:

About two and a half weeks ago, we hit a heatwave with temps reaching 104 degrees. Three days later, the vomiting and diarrhea started. On the first day of sickness, we had throat swabs done—they came back negative, but the infectious disease specialist suspected adenovirus. Blood work looked totally normal, nothing pointing toward an active infection. That whole episode lasted about a week.
Then, after 4 or 5 days, the vomiting and diarrhea returned (strictly at night, just once per night). No fever this time, but there was a rash on his stomach and I assume some cramping, because he was restless, his gut was making a lot of noise, and he was constantly shifting around trying to find a comfortable sleeping position. The pediatrician chalked it up to a new intestinal virus—no tests were run because they assumed the rash was a typical viral symptom. This second bout lasted another 4 or 5 days. A few days after that, his stomach became quite bloated and a single lymph node popped up behind his ear (about 0.4 inches). The kid is otherwise acting fine—cheerful, playful, showing no signs of pain. We went back to the infectious disease clinic because we figured the bloating was linked to that recent stomach bug. Here is what the CBC showed:

WBC 21.2 (not ly mo) E 5.42 Hb 125, Hct 0.39, MCV 72, Plt 379
Differential: seg neg, seg limfo react, mono, eo, bazo, plazma, metamielo, mijelo, promijelo, mijeloblasti
Diagnosis: eosinophilia (30%).

(Physical exam was normal: liver 0, spleen 0, abdomen is meteorically distended but not tender to the touch)

We sent samples for stool analysis and a rectal swab (results pending).
I’m wondering if this is a brand new issue or if it's all tied back to the previous viruses? Are these lab results cause for concern?

Terry Morgan6 said:I'm sorry to say it, but even when I try those steps, the option for compatibility view won't even let me click on it; honestly, this IRS e-file system is driving me absolutely crazy.🙂

First things first: we need to figure out which browser you're running. My question was specifically about whether you're using Microsoft Edge. If you are, that setting should definitely be showing up in the tools menu. That is, unless you're looking at the tools on the top right of the screen. You actually need to look at the tools on the top left(if they aren't appearing, just hit the Alt key on your keyboard to bring them up. Then you can select Compatibility View).

Raymond Martinez10 said:It looks like they don't have an open portal for entrepreneurs to submit forms within the sales tax system. Your only real shot is through the IRS e-file. If anyone here has dealt with a different setup, please share—I could use the info.

Wait, what?
The only official, mandatory way for businesses under the VAT system to send over their forms is via the IRS e-file web application. It’s pretty much set in stone.

Terry Morgan6 said:It isn't just giving me an error message saying it can't be displayed, either

So, once you select Login, does the certificate pop up, only for the error message to hit right after you enter your PIN? If so, give this a shot:
-Try logging in using a different browser, or
-On the page, before clicking Login, go to Tools and check Compatibility View. Then try signing in.
Are you perhaps stuck using iOS 10?

Henry Edwards33 said:Nata and I were wrestling with Oracle and digital signatures all day today. Honestly, just uninstall Oracle and grab a fresh version. That update provided by the IRS keeps throwing errors at us. I eventually managed to sign the forms by just ignoring the error messages—basically clicking "No" when things went sideways, though I was praying the system wouldn't just crash entirely 😬

Good luck, let me know if it works for you.

Satena, go to the IRS website, hit business entities, then look for RGFI in the bottom left corner 😉

There’s really no need to jump onto the newest java release. Honestly, just uninstall the latest version (that 7 V21 mess which likely installed incorrectly) and stick with what you have right now (7 V17). Give your computer a quick restart and ignore any prompts to update again. Unless, of course, you're looking for more headaches...

Daniel White9 said:Is this actually true? Nobody has replied yet.

I just picked up my digital certificate from Goldman Sachs—it's on a USB stick.

I haven't installed it yet, but I'm about to.😁

Do I really need to go down to the IRS to set up my online tax account, or am I right about how this works?

If the certificate holder is the authorized official for the business it was issued to, then all you have to do is register through the e-filing application.
If the certificate wasn't issued directly to the business owner (say, it's for an accountant, an employee, or someone else entirely), then you’ll need to visit the local IRS office with power of attorney forms to get officially authorized to work.

Rachel Garcia said:How long does it usually take for your digital signature to load?
Mine’s been stuck on "Please wait..." for several minutes now.
😕

If you happen to have another digital certificate sitting on a different device—say, one you use strictly for your Chase banking login—that’s plugged into your computer, pull it out first. Once that's cleared, head over to the IRS web portal and try signing the form.
If you don't have any other certificates available, just shut the application down. Pull the certificate out of your computer, plug it back in, relaunch the app, and give that signature another shot.

I’ve been sitting here for an hour and a half, clicking away, and I’ve only managed to successfully submit a whopping six measly forms!!! It feels like I'm running through molasses! Does anyone out there have a secret trick or some kind of magic solution to deal with this nightmare?🙂

Are you using online banking on that same computer? If so, try plugging both devices with your digital certificates directly into the PC before you even launch the app.

I'm going to shoot them an email immediately because if I can't get this sorted, there's no way I'm getting my sales tax filed!

So, whose name is actually on the certificate? Is it the primary owner, or some third party—like an employee or an accountant? Look, if the certificate belongs to a business entity, but the individual it was issued to isn't the authorized officer (per the Secretary of State or local business registry), you can't just walk in. Your only move would be to present a formal power of attorney to the local Police Department.

I’ve been trying to log into the IRS website, but I just can't get in. Every time I enter my password, it just kicks me right back to the home page like nothing happened. Is anyone else running into this issue today? I'm currently using Voyager 1.

Try switching over to the Tools / Compatibility view and logging in again, or honestly, just try a different browser altogether.

dustyscout8 said:We attempted to file an IBM form through this revamped IRS portal today, and it threw an error message immediately upon submission. We properly signed the document and hit send, yet the system rejected it instantly. Everything functioned flawlessly under the old version of the electronic filing system.
Is there some additional step required before the final submission that we might be overlooking? We have already checked the box to accept the terms and conditions, but that hasn't solved anything.
Are you all still having your clients sign physical IBM copies, or is digital submission sufficient once the confirmation is received?

What kind of error are we talking about? And does it happen during the digital signature phase or when you actually try to transmit the file?
IRS and Tax Filing Issues in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
dustyscout8 said:vlado3, I have no idea what you're getting at🙂 because I am seeing the exact same message stating the form "is signed and cannot be edited," and yet absolutely nothing happens. There isn't even a confirmation that it was received or any sign of progress. I actually called their toll-free support line, and the woman on the other end sounded completely frazzled; she basically admitted the application is broken and that it isn't our fault, but rather that their system keeps hanging and half the features simply aren't functioning. So, how are we supposed to submit anything? The old system worked perfectly fine, and there was never an issue with it.

Has ANYONE HERE actually managed to successfully file an ID form using this new, broken software?!

If you've reached the point where it says "form is signed and cannot be edited," you just need to click "Submit" on the left side of your screen.

Chris Hayes16 said:Hey everyone,
I was hoping someone could help me clear something up regarding tax reporting and business hours

If I run a small shop with just two employees, and our schedule shifts temporarily—say we have to shorten our hours because someone's taking vacation or is out on medical leave—do we actually need to report those changes to the IRS? Does it matter if it's just a temporary thing for two or three weeks before we go right back to our regular hours?

Thanks in advance for the help!

You really should have posted this under the Tax Compliance thread, but since we're here:
Yes, you need to update your business hours and transmit that data through your point-of-sale system. Once things get back to normal after those two or three weeks, you’ll just need to submit the updated hours through the terminal again.

Are you using Chase?

The issue is that ActiveClient and the Chase eToken PKI Client (the apps used to verify card certificates) aren't playing nice together.

Maybe try reinstalling the eToken PKI Client. I guess we had some users where that actually fixed the problem.

If that doesn't work... is there any chance you could use Chase on a different computer and the IRS on this one? Or any other combo, really—just to ensure those two specific apps aren't installed on the same machine at once.

So what you're saying is, if someone only owns one laptop and uses JPMorgan Chase, they have to reinstall the eToken PKI Client every single time they want to log into the IRS? Like, it's an all-or-nothing deal just to get both apps running?

The IRS website is going to be down, and before you start blaming the new tax forms, let me clear things up: it's actually because they're migrating to a whole new web application. If you want the full breakdown, here's the scoop:
