NATO vs. Pakistan in World ·

But isn't that whole "transit" issue basically settled by Israel selling UAVs to Russia? Now, through live broadcasts from the White House and the White House, they can apparently monitor UAV flights coming right out of Russia and track their coordinated strikes against targets in Afghanistan—or even Pakistan, if things get that messy.

The military agreement between Israel and Russia regarding the delivery of UAV drones is an entirely separate matter from any agreements held between the USA and Russia. The USA and NATO still have to keep paying Russia for those transit corridors used to move equipment to NATO forces stationed in Afghanistan...http://www.rferl.org/content/Russia_...t/2150123.html http://www.atlantskainicijativa.org/...id=118&lang=hr

http://www.alumnieeni.com/print/AF-map.gif I honestly find myself wondering which particular genius decided to fly a helicopter straight into the Pakistani armed forces... if I had any say in the matter, I’d have that entire crew relieved of duty immediately and handed over to the Pakistani justice system without a second thought. It’s quite a devastating blow for NATO in this part of the world, really, given that they’ve just severed our only viable supply line to Afghanistan. We can't route through Iran, and now that we're being blocked by Pakistan, our options are dwindling fast... it seems we're left with nothing but to pray for some sort of transit route through Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, all of which are UN members, and that is inevitably going to cost us millions more in fees that we'll ultimately have to pay to Russia...

Women can be far more dangerous neo-Nazis than men... It seems there's this persistent tendency to write about female members of neo-Nazi organizations merely as the "girlfriends" or "wives" of the actual extremists, which is quite a misconception. One former member offers a warning: that perspective is fundamentally flawed, as women tend to be significantly more radicalized than their male counterparts...

Ellen lives in Washington, D.C. today; she uses a pseudonym because, until just a few years ago, she was an active member of a neo-Nazi group and prefers to remain anonymous now. Initially, it was just the sense of community that drew her toward the far-right, but eventually, she lost all hesitation in admitting her hatred for outsiders—at least until the police arrested her four years ago on suspicion of involvement in terrorism...

Ellen is convinced of one thing: the most radical neo-Nazis are actually the women within the movement. She noted, "It bothers you when they treat you as if you're less important—as if you can't contribute because you aren't smart enough or strong enough, either mentally or physically. I think that’s how it works; it becomes a way for women to prove themselves... we always have to work ten times harder to prove our worth than the men ever do."

The esteemed scientist Magnus Unemo has uncovered a new strain of bacteria that could potentially claim the lives of as many as 65 million people in the near future. This particular bacterium is resistant to every known medication and is spreading at an alarming rate. It all began when a physician in Kyoto diagnosed a patient—a sex worker—with gonorrhea and prescribed a course of cephalosporins, feeling quite certain that this standard treatment would handle such a common infection. Unfortunately, the culprit, *Neisseria gonorrhoeae*, had other plans... it simply refused to yield. It turns out we are dealing with a new strain known as H041, a superbug variant of gonorrhea that has proven entirely resistant to all antibiotics. With H041 cases already being documented among men in Norway, scientists are deeply concerned that this unstoppable, antibiotic-resistant strain might soon sweep across the entire globe. A string of lethal mutants...

Of course, this specific superbug is merely one in a growing parade of deadly mutants currently making their way across the world without any sign of slowing down. Perhaps the most infamous of the bunch is undoubtedly MRSA, a strain of staph that typically resides harmlessly on the skin or in the noses of healthy individuals, yet becomes a nightmare once it manages to breach the bloodstream or penetrate deep tissue, which occasionally leads to rather grim outcomes... What makes MRSA so uniquely dangerous is its stubborn refusal to respond to most antibiotics, including methicillin. It tends to spread through contaminated medical instruments or open wounds, and as our diagnostic and therapeutic procedures become more invasive, the risk of catching these hospital-acquired infections seems to climb right along with them. A study published back in 2007 in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) indicated that MRSA was responsible for nearly 19,000 deaths annually among Americans, a mortality rate in the US that actually surpassed even AIDS at the time. Over in Europe, MRSA claims about 25,000 lives every year. Here in the States, hospital-acquired infections affect roughly 50,000 people annually, with about one percent of those unfortunate souls meeting a fatal end, which keeps us right in line with the European average... The brunt of these hospital infections is felt most heavily by urology patients, accounting for 40 percent of cases, and those undergoing bowel surgery, which sits at around 25 percent.
