How do I sign up for my driver's test?

I'm currently studying for my driver's permit exam.
I think I've pretty much mastered all the intersection rules.
Everything else feels mostly under control, too...
But for some reason, I can't seem to crack those online practice tests—the ones that give you an instant score. I can't hit that 90% mark they're looking for. I just keep hovering around 83 to 85%.
If anyone here has taken the test recently, could you let me know how you studied and what kind of questions to expect?
