I was totally blindsided by the fact that you’re still bleeding for like a month after giving birth 😁 and that you can't even shave properly because of the postpartum stuff, plus all those other basic daily things...
During my second pregnancy, I finally figured out what it feels like when the baby hiccups... and the insomnia...
My impatience and how much I'm counting down the days until delivery really gets to me, and I hate it when people touch my belly without asking.

I keep seeing this on the forums:
What does it actually mean when someone says they are, for example, 7+3 or 26+5?
What is that number following the plus sign actually supposed to signify??
I am quite new to all of this, so please excuse my ignorance! 😁

It's 7 weeks and 3 days, 26 weeks and 5 days... 🙂

I’ll go out for coffee with a friend, and every single time, she makes some comment about how my stomach looks small or gives me that specific look—you know the one. I’m eight months along now, and honestly, it just starts getting under my skin and making me overthink everything, even though the doctors say the baby is doing perfectly fine. Like, what am I supposed to do? This is just my build, and for someone who's 5'6", it's completely normal!

I'm also eight months in, and plenty of people tell me my bump is tiny. I don't really let it get to me, though, because everything shows up fine at my checkups, and neither my doctor nor the nurse have ever suggested anything is wrong...
I guess we'll all just suddenly bloat up like balloons in this last month 😁

We were down at my husband's grandparents' place by the coast, and his grandma would ask me every morning how I was feeling. Every time I told her I felt terrible, she’d just wave me off like, "Oh, stop exaggerating."🙂

And my mother-in-law is getting on my nerves again, trying to micromanage our baby names. Whatever name my husband picks for a girl, she decides it's the ugliest name on the planet, so she's already started listing her own "better" suggestions.🤦

Plus, my father-in-law is driving me crazy too. He hasn't even asked how I am once in four months. He can barely even bring himself to say the word "pregnant" or acknowledge I'm actually having a baby; he just brushes it off like, "When this phase passes."

Honestly, half of my husband's family is just exhausting... 😁

I guess I'm used to it by now... since the men in my own family are the same way. Even though everyone knows I'm pregnant... I don't know, maybe it's just guys... like they feel awkward asking or whatever. 🙄

Every single time I step out of my house, I end up answering the same five mindless questions on loop—like, "How much longer?", "Almost there?", "When’s the big day?", "What else are you working on?", or even the annoying "Why aren't you on medical leave?" (and thank God, because once my maternity leave kicks in today, I am officially done listening to any of this). Then there's the inevitable, "Is it a girl?" (even though my first was a boy), followed by "What does your older kid think about all this?" Aaaaaaaagh...
I get it, really. People just run out of things to say, so they default to these repetitive scripts. It’s like their specific version of small talk for pregnant women, while everyone else gets to chat about the weather. But when I absolutely despise these kinds of superficial, polite pleasantries, it just drives me up the wall...
The other day, some total stranger—someone I barely recognize from around the neighborhood—actually had the audacity to reach out and touch my stomach in a Target aisle. A complete disaster...
And I already know what happens once the baby arrives: the interrogation begins. "Are you breastfeeding?", "Do you have enough milk?", "Is the baby sleeping through the night?"...
Maybe the problem is just me. Maybe I’m just a bit of a misanthrope.🤷

It’s like I wrote this myself lol 🤣
It honestly feels like they only have two scripts prepared: one for the first trimester and one for later on. People drive me crazy with the exact same questions, like they're reading from a manual. Now that I'm in my second trimester, I get hit with things like: Has your bump popped yet? (followed by them staring intensely or even trying to touch you), Are you feeling okay? (I mean, I'm pregnant, not dying), Are you dealing with morning sickness, Is it a boy or a girl, What does your husband think? (like, what am I supposed to say??!) etc., etc...
Anyway, I guess I wonder if the problem really is me 😬
Megan Moore2 said:Honestly, my biggest grievance right now is just how constantly hungry I am! 🙂 And the worst part? Nothing actually sounds good to eat anymore. Everything tastes bland, and it’s becoming a rare occurrence where I actually find something genuinely delicious.

Yeah, and also 😬
It’s not even that I’m always hungry, it’s more like I’ve become incredibly picky. I end up eating total junk instead of anything healthy or fresh.🙄
I'm dealing with these massive mood swings lately. I mean, out of nowhere, I just feel this heavy sadness and start crying for no reason at all 🙂 And then, like, a minute ago, everything seemed totally fine...
Amy Green4 said:Earlier today, a woman approached me to ask about my outfit, and when I gave her an answer, she just looked at me with this profound sense of pity and sighed, "Oh, well, it doesn't matter since you're a girl." 🙂
It isn't exactly the first time I’ve encountered that kind of reaction.
There still seems to be a segment of people out there clinging to the hope that somehow the ultrasound was wrong and they’re actually having a boy.
They can't seem to resist making a comment whenever the opportunity arises.

I find myself wondering exactly when it became acceptable to view daughters as somehow less desirable or less valuable than sons. 😕

Another thing I constantly deal with is the unsolicited commentary on why I haven't gained weight. There is this pervasive assumption that if a pregnant woman doesn't put on at least twenty pounds, she’s being unhealthy or essentially starving the baby.
The prevailing logic is that you absolutely have to force yourself to eat everything in sight just to satisfy the idea of "eating for two." 🙂

Unbelievable. Are we seriously stuck in some ancient century or something?🙄
But honestly, it’s not surprising. I know this one guy—he's like 80—who reacted the exact same way toward his great-grandchild when the parents found out the sex. Just totally disappointed: "Oh, it's a girl? But..." I really don't get it... I mean, maybe I can wrap my head around older folks being stuck in an old-school mindset, even if that's no excuse since they live in the 21st century too and aren't totally isolated from the world, but for younger people... I'm speechless. Thank God I'm surrounded by people who don't care about gender and will be just as happy whether it's a boy or a girl.🙂
Still, I really thought this whole preference for boys was something from the past... 🙄
Kimberly Thompson36 said:Interesting... 🙂 mine have grown two cup sizes already! We don't know the sex yet, but I have a gut feeling it's a girl...

Honestly, it drives me absolutely insane how everyone is constantly pestering me about when we'll find out the gender (maybe I'm being dramatic, but none of these friends asking actually have kids, so they have zero clue how this works) and then there are the random ladies on the street trying to predict everything for me. 🙂
One woman told me it's a girl just because I have a pretty face, and another insisted it's a boy because I'm tall (my mom was super tall too, while my brothers were short).

Ugh, I guess I used to be just like that with other pregnant women before I was actually pregnant myself 🤣 I didn't know anything about it back then, so one of my first questions would always be about the gender, even if most people couldn't even see a flicker on an ultrasound yet 😁
Now it feels weird when someone asks me that early on. Maybe I'm just being a hypocrite 😂
Nancy Stewart38 said:Dana Martin87, it's funny how differently grandmas tell these stories...
They told me I was a boy too, just because my face didn't look "distorted." They were actually 😬
The only thing I don't get is what kind of ridiculous logic implies that being "distorted" is even a thing...

I also heard that thing about breasts—that if they grow a lot, it's definitely a girl because of hormones, but if they stay small, it's a boy... What do you guys think? 😬
It was actually kind of cute at first, but now it’s just getting on my nerves because everyone thinks they already KNOW the gender of my baby... My future mother-in-law is convinced it's a girl—mostly because she’s spent her whole life surrounded by guys and is dying for a granddaughter—and my family is certain it's a girl too, just because I'm supposedly "calm and gentle," which is such a load of crap. Then my friends are all swearing it's a boy, though God knows what they're basing that on. And the kicker? I'm barely even twelve weeks along. 🤣 Everyone keeps asking how I am, if the baby is showing yet, or trying to poke at my stomach 🙄 like it's some kind of public attraction just because they heard the news! I guess my hormones are just all over the place lately, so everything is just really grating on me right now. 🙂
