Whenever I see those comments about what I should be eating, I just tell them I’m already on a pregnancy diet🙂
And if people start digging for details—asking things like, "Wait, what kind of diet?" or "Did your doctor actually prescribe that?"—I just give them a straight answer. Honestly, a healthy pregnant woman can eat whatever she wants, as much as she wants, right?🙂
Sure, I get that you can’t read minds, and honestly, it’s perfectly fine if someone says, "Sorry, I really can't stand right now, I'm feeling lightheaded, my leg hurts, my stomach is acting up..." or whatever else. No hard feelings there, of course!
But it’s happened to me two or three times where I’m standing in the middle of a half-empty subway car—meaning most people are seated and maybe only three of us are standing. It’s not like I’m buried in a rush hour crowd where they can’t see me; at least twenty people looking right at me can see me clearly, yet nobody does anything. And believe me, since I’m carrying twins, I have a pretty "noticeable" bump 😍...
and that part just really gets to me... 😢 ...It’s like, when the hormones hit, I just want to burst into tears and ask, "Seriously? Is absolutely no one going to offer a seat?!"
When I wasn't struggling physically, standing didn't bother me much; I was even able to say thank you if someone did help. It's not like I need a ride halfway across the city, I'm only going down a few stops. But now that standing is actually becoming difficult, I find myself being way more sensitive to it... I think I could probably walk slowly for hours 😁, but standing perfectly still? I don't think I can last three minutes before I feel like my back, my stomach, and my legs are all about to explode.
It honestly gets under my skin when people don't give up their seats on the subway; it actually makes me feel a little sad, if I'm being honest.😢
I mean, out of all the people around, there’s always some lady in her 60s or 70s sitting right there...
But lately, the last three or four times this has happened, I’ve just ended up thanking the older woman and saying, "Oh, please don't bother getting up, really! It would be much fairer if one of these younger guys or girls stepped up." And I’ll pointedly gesture toward the nearest young person nearby. It’s funny how it works—there are always a few people watching, and wouldn't you know it, they jump up immediately? Sometimes it's even a whole group of them at once!
Then, as I sit down, I'll let out a little sigh of relief and "sincerely" offer a "Phew, thank you so much!"
Why does it feel like I have to be the one teaching basic manners on public transit?🙂
Is it just me, or does pregnancy make you feel incredibly clumsy? It’s like I suddenly lost all my coordination overnight!🙂
I’ve got these little bruises around my knees from constantly bumping into the coffee table in the living room, I always have at least two cuts on my fingers covered in Band-Aids, and honestly, I think I’ve broken more dishes in the last few months than I did in my entire life combined! 🤦
During this pregnancy, I just can't seem to get a handle on how argumentative and hypersensitive I've become. It’s totally thrown me off my game.
I'm right there with you... honestly, I feel like garbage right now because just a few minutes ago, I snapped at a coworker way harder than I intended... it was only after the words left my mouth that I realized what I'd actually said... 😢
So, here's the deal: this coworker is 45, doesn't have kids, and won't be having any—early menopause territory. Anyway, she starts lecturing me about why I'm still wearing "normal" jeans and how they must be squeezing my stomach. I tried explaining that they aren't tight at all because, first, they're super low-rise so I button them under my bump, and second, I'm actually wearing a belt because they keep slipping down... but she just kept going, "No, no, you don't know what you're talking about, they're definitely too tight," blah blah blah... so I finally just blurted out: "Well, you're certainly the expert since you gave birth to three of them!" 🙂
A second later, I just went, "I am so sorry, seriously, I'm so sorry..." 😢
But man, it really gets under my skin when women who have never even been pregnant suddenly think they have a hundred pieces of advice for you.🙂
I have three other coworkers who have each had two or three kids, and not one of them tries to lecture me. But these two who haven't had children? They drive me absolutely insane every single day with their unsolicited advice, constant questions, unnecessary panic, and just general nonsense!🙂 I just don't have the patience for that kind of thing anymore!
I’ve finally come to realize that everything really just boils down to who is doing the talking. It seems like there are certain people in this world where the rules simply don't apply, isn't there? For some, everything is permitted. 😁 I honestly don't think I could ever misinterpret someone's intentions... yet there are certain people who just make my blood pressure spike the second they even look my way. Maybe it’s just that being a New Parent makes me more sensitive to everyone else's energy? It feels like everything is just hitting a little harder lately. 😉
Of course there are underlying complexes behind comments like those... honestly, what can I even say? We're talking about a woman in her mid-40s who doesn't have a husband, kids, or even a pet, just living this total Sex and the City lifestyle. Look, family isn't the ultimate purpose of life for everyone, and I truly respect that—you shouldn't start a family just for the sake of checking a box, right? But it is pretty interesting how she’s always the first one stepping up to offer advice on pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and especially when it comes to raising children 🙄
So, my coworker had her blood pressure spike to 300 yesterday!!! 🙂
We were just chatting away when she suddenly looks me up and down and goes, "Gosh, you've definitely filled out, you look healthy!"
Now, let's be clear—I’m currently 10 weeks pregnant, and I’ve already put on, can you believe it, 2 pounds. And this is a twin pregnancy... so I just gave her this blank stare and said, "Oh, please don't start. I've gained 2 pounds, and half of that is just my chest growing by two cup sizes and the other half is the bump that's already starting to show..." But she just kept going, insisting, "No, really, you've definitely widened out in the hips and backside too!" She spent five whole minutes trying to convince me how much wider I've gotten!
Honestly, even if it were true, does anyone actually care? After nearly three years of struggling, hoping, praying every single month, and finally going through IVF... does it really matter to me if my hips have widened by 3, 5, or 10 centimeters??? 🙄 Especially when I'm carrying twins!!! And the thing is, she knows everything I went through to get here...
I can't wait until I've gained at least 35 pounds; I'm dying to see what she has to say then. 😁
Amy Gomez52 said:Well, you've actually made me feel a little discouraged here. 🤣
(I mean, I find myself obsessing almost daily about whether I've lost an ounce off my thighs or if my skin texture is changing... it's just one of those things, isn't it?) 😁
I’m talking about the literal number on the scale, 😉 though honestly, does that number even matter? The reality is that my legs feel so much stronger after a full season of mountain biking, and they definitely look better, even if the scale hasn't budged an inch. So, maybe you don't need to shave or obsess over the measurements. It might be true that neither the weight nor the inches have changed, but if the shape is improving, doesn't that count for more? 😉
I’ll jump in here too—I also commute by bike! Though I only do it for about six months out of the year, basically from April through mid-October depending on how the weather holds up 😉 . Last year was my first full season, and I have to admit, by the second month of this year, I was already getting sooo impatient to get back on the saddle!
My commute is about 9-6.2 miles(Brooklyn to Manhattan) and usually takes me around 30 minutes at a steady pace... As for the whole sweating situation—so far, I just wear a cotton undershirt or a tank top beneath my work clothes to soak up any moisture. Once I get to the office, I swap it out, wipe down with some wet wipes, hit it with a little deodorant, and I feel totally refreshed
. Once those intense summer heatwaves really kick in, I start carrying a change of work clothes in my bag. My bag is just a standard women's tote (well, as standard as a bike bag can be 😁 ), so I just toss it in the basket and call it a day 👍
.
The main reason I started biking to work was to tone up and maybe drop a few pounds (classic womanly goals, right? 🙄 ). To be honest, I haven't lost a single ounce, but it doesn't even matter anymore. I've realized it's much more valuable to me as a form of stress relief 👍. When I think about it, especially during the summer: after work, it's sunny and probably 90 degrees out. You're standing there waiting for the bus or the subway, the asphalt is radiating heat, and then you finally squeeze onto the train... people are smelly, some sweaty lady leans her clammy shoulder against yours, everyone smells like garlic, alcohol, or three-day-old sweat, and you're just sitting there wondering if you're going to faint before the next stop... all while staring at a 50-minute ride. Compare that to being on my bike: quiet music playing in my headphones (just low enough to hear the traffic around me 🧐 ), the wind in my hair, birds singing—and I find myself singing along too 🤣. I get to stretch out after sitting for eight hours, and I relax so much that by the time I get home, it feels like I wasn't even at work. It's absolutely wonderful 👍

so the answer is yes.
🙂Me too.
But there is one thing I can't quite wrap my head around—what about the vaccine?
See, my relative's husband has hepatitis; it was caught by chance, and after running some tests, it turns out half his family has it too. It seems like it's been passed down through the generations, though who knows how long, but he’s just a carrier. He isn't actually sick himself, but he can definitely pass it on to her.
And now she has to go in for an injection every six months, all five of them!
Honestly, it really worries me that some of you don't quite grasp how getting pregnant during your period is actually possible.
Here is the breakdown: typically, your fertile window falls around days 13 through 17 if you have a standard 28-day cycle. But what happens if your cycle is shorter? Or if things get thrown off by stress, traveling, or being sick, causing your cycle to shorten to, say, 23 or 24 days? In that case, your fertile window starts much earlier—around day 8 or 9. If you happen to have sex on the 3rd or 4th day of your period and he finishes inside, you have to factor in that sperm can survive for 3 to 5 days (and there are definitely documented cases of them hanging around for up to 7 days!). When you add all that up, it’s entirely possible for sperm to stay alive and just "wait out" the clock until your fertile window opens. Even if you were being super careful with a condom, you end up left wondering, "Wait, how did I actually get pregnant?"
It’s especially true for women with shorter cycles; the shorter your cycle, the higher your chances of conceiving from sex during your period.
Personally, I don't do it. Call me old-fashioned or whatever you want, but that’s just not the time for it. Why? Because those are her days for cleaning out, shedding, and all the biological prep work required for the other 24 days of regular intimacy!🙂)) And besides, it’s only 3 or 4 days; it’s easy enough to hold off. Plus, I have to admit, I absolutely love what happens after those few days of abstinence—we get so worked up that we basically tear each other apart, and honestly, it ends up being our best sex every single time.🙂 It's almost like a ritualistic reset.🙂
