When I actually sit down and give it some real thought, the whole issue of seating isn't even my primary concern.
I don't rely on the subway for my daily commute, but back when I was trekking to high school or college every single day, I witnessed just about everything you could imagine. The reality is that absolutely no one can look at a person and know the specific struggle behind why they need a seat.

For instance, I used to suffer through excruciating menstrual cramps, and honestly, I probably would have ended up collapsed on the floor of an MTA train if I hadn't been sitting down—and I still vividly remember being verbally torn apart by some elderly lady because she thought I should have given up my spot for a pregnant woman. While I fully acknowledge that not everyone who sits is being selfish, it seems to me that a huge portion of the younger generation today has completely lost any sense of basic decency or public etiquette, which is frankly pathetic.
And don't even get me started on those women strutting around in high heels 😢

But what truly drives me up the wall is standing in lines. I deal with high blood pressure and I simply cannot stand for extended periods; plus, I have to use the restroom every fifteen minutes or so, especially when I'm out and about since I tend to drink a massive amount of water. I can't even fathom being stuck in a long queue without a bottle of water in my hand—the sheer panic sets in immediately, particularly when the heat is cranking. 🙂
Today was a complete disaster at the Social Security Administration office. I’m feeling absolutely exhausted, and my stomach is acting up too.

Not a single soul there showed me an ounce of compassion. There was this woman working the service counter who just stared right through me without saying a word to help.
When I finally couldn't stand anymore—considering I'm currently on medical leave—I actually had to approach her and practically beg for a seat. Instead of being human, she just rolled her eyes at me and snapped that she wasn't the one making the decisions.
So now, I'm sitting here drafting a formal complaint to the SSA.
It is honestly terrifying how some government agencies operate in this country. Absolutely appalling.

To make matters worse, there were six men standing in line ahead of me. My heart goes out to their wives having to deal with them.
And I really shouldn't be surprised, because I see the same lack of support everywhere, whether it's at the OB-GYN clinic or even just walking through downtown Chicago. You see pregnant women standing there looking completely drained and unsupported, while some men—even the partners of those very women—just sit there doing nothing. 🤮
- Just like so many other pregnant women out there, I find myself constantly rubbing my belly, over and over again, every single time. 🙂
- As for the question about the baby's gender: honestly, if I knew, I’d probably just tell you all. 🙂
- Once we finally figured out the sex and I thought I could finally move past those questions, the interrogation shifted: "What are you going to name them??" I tell everyone the same thing—I won't know until the baby is actually born, because, quite frankly, I have no clue. Today alone, six different people cornered me with that exact question. And I'm sure this will continue relentlessly until the end of my pregnancy. 🙂

edit:

And also this:
- Are they seriously going to come into the delivery room with you?!! The poor thing is going to be absolutely traumatized. They can't do that; you know they're going to see everything...
Look, it is absolutely not my priority how things look in that moment, and quite frankly, trivial nonsense is being treated as more important than the arrival of our greatest love into this world.
It is truly unbelievable, and most of this comes from people who are constant fixtures at their local church (no offense intended)... and yet, somehow, everything gets boiled down to such vulgarity. 👎 It might not sound pretty when I say it, but that is exactly how they think.
