I'm not looking for anyone to lecture me because this is my choice to make, but isn't it concerning how often complications or long-term health issues arise from surgical births? 🙄
Then there are those who claim women who give birth naturally bond better because they "earned" it through struggle. Honestly, I don't know about you, but I'm about two seconds away from losing my cool with people making comments like that. 🤷
What an absolute load of crap!! I can't believe people actually say this.😲

On top of that, there is the perspiration, which seems to trigger a never-ending cycle of breakouts across my legs, groin, and everywhere else.😠😠😠
🙏🙏🙏 I am right there with you, 100%!!!

Sure, bringing a new life into this world is a miracle, but am I really not allowed to complain when my heart is racing, I’m constantly nauseous, or I'm craving ice cream only to feel sick immediately after eating it? Apparently, if I'm not absolutely loving every second of this, I'm just being ungrateful, right?
Honestly, if I felt this way without being pregnant, I’d be at the ER demanding a checkup and asking them to keep me overnight until my hormones settled down. But because I'm expecting, I'm just supposed to grit my teeth and deal with it because "all women go through this" and we're all just naturally brave martyrs by design.🙄
It’s so frustrating because everyone around me seems to be in a state of pure euphoria, while I’m actually terrified and spiraling about whether I can even survive labor. Every time I try to express my anxiety, the responses are always the same: "Don't get stressed, the baby will feel it," "It'll be fine" (my absolute favorite), or people starting to throw religious platitudes at me. What, am I expecting a guardian angel or the Virgin Mary to step in and give birth for me instead?🙄
It's exactly because of comments like that—and others just like them—that I ended up getting into a massive blowout with my mom yesterday over one of those incredibly stupid questions:
can you even imagine what giving birth is going to be like?!?!? And then, of course, follows the inevitable, "Oh honey, you have no idea what's coming for you..."
I lose my mind every single time this starts. No, I can't "imagine" it because I haven't done it yet... okay, yeah, I'm sure it hurts (who wouldn't?!), but millions of women have already gone through this and survived. What's the deal with women acting like it's some huge drama when they're literally just repeating a biological process?
Anyway, I'm pissed off all over again just typing this...
I was actually going to sit here and quote a few of these last comments, but honestly? I just don't have the energy for it... all I’ve got to say is 🙏 🙏

Ugh, I seriously can't stand comments like that... especially when they throw in that fake-nice, passive-aggressive "good luck with that" at the end. It’s so condescending.🙄
Nancy Ruiz7 said:I suppose I’ll join in on the venting, even though I’m only in my second trimester, because after those first two miscarriages, I’m still feeling a bit shaken up. Honestly, I don't see why it should be considered "difficult" only for women hitting that 36-week mark while everyone else gets a free pass... It feels like it isn't really about your weight or how big your belly is, but more about the mental and emotional toll it takes on you. Early on, I was dealing with such intense sciatica that I felt completely broken—not just from the physical pain, but from the constant anxiety over losing this baby, all while being unable to even get out of bed because I wasn't allowed to take anything stronger than basic over-the-counter meds. So, I guess I shouldn't complain...
It seems like we experienced moms and the rest of the world just love to irritate us with those cliché warnings, telling you that "nothing will ever be the same," or "your whole life is going to flip upside down," or "say goodbye to your freedom." I truly don't understand why someone would choose to have a child if they aren't prepared to dedicate themselves to it, or if they find the responsibility so overwhelming. I have dogs at home that I get up for multiple times throughout the night if needed, so I really don't see why I wouldn't do the same for my own child? My routine already involves waking up at 6:00 AM every single day, so I have no idea who expects parents to sleep until noon or just sit around smoking cigarettes?
I’m not sure if anyone else can relate to this, but I’ve spent my entire life learning how to care for others rather than just focusing on myself, which is why looking after a baby doesn't feel like an impossible burden—especially since we know children thrive most when their parents are healthy, happy, and content. I struggle to understand people who have a child but find the act of caring for them to be a genuine hardship.
Best wishes to everyone.
I am 100% with you on this. I know it’s not a direct comparison, but I feel the exact same way regarding my dogs—I’ve even trained several of them following strict professional protocols. On top of that, my actual career involves working with children, and my entire lifestyle is structured in a way where people constantly ask me, "How on earth do you manage to pull all this off?" So, why on earth would we bring a child into this world—someone we wanted so badly and are so excited to meet—only to create MASSIVE problems and let them wreck our entire lives?
The further I get into this pregnancy, the more I realize just how much absolute nonsense people around me spout. It’s honestly mind-blowing. One of the most "brilliant" examples I've dealt with lately—and yeah, this is becoming a daily occurrence—goes something like this: "I really think you should just chill out now that you're nearing the end (34 weeks). You've been doing English classes, Pilates, running around with the dog... you're never home! And look, your doctor warned you not to overdo it so you don't go into early labor... just settle down so everything stays fine until the end..." Okay, cool. Fast forward about three hours, and the exact same person hits me with: "Hey, would it be a huge problem if you gave me a ride to campus this afternoon around 4:00? Yeah, obviously no biggie, I didn't even think about it... since you're basically always at home anyway." Like, excuse me? The sheer audacity.
Or, here's another flavor of the same madness: "Make sure you sleep while you still can! Sleep as much as you need, just rest up..." Meanwhile, I've been wide awake since 8:10 AM... and by 9:15 AM, they're already barking at me: "Hurry up, why aren't you dressed yet? I need to move the car, it's blocking the workers and their truck." Honestly, I couldn't care less about some random workers or their truck... I am not running out there just because my car is parked in front of my own house!
It’s just constant. Every single day there's some new ridiculous demand that proves exactly why I *should* be resting, lying down, and "keeping my feet up" like everyone keeps telling me to do.
So, I got blindsided by questions again today... "How are you feeling?" "How much longer do you have left?" And of course, the big one: "How many pounds have you put on?" When I told them I’ve gained about 22 lbs (31 weeks in), the response was—I KID YOU NOT—"Oh, so just another 15 or 20 and you'll be right on track!"
I honestly don't get it. Do people seriously think there's some universal rulebook stating exactly how much weight a woman is supposed to gain during pregnancy? Or that there's a magic number we all have to hit? Apparently, they think I’m aiming to finish this pregnancy 55 lbs heavier than when I started!
Look, I totally get that for some people, the only thing that matters is that the baby is healthy. And yeah, obviously, that’s true. But for the love of God, give it a rest and back off a little.
Anyway, that's my rant for the day.......
Talk about hitting the nail on the head with this topic... What’s been the absolute most irritating, eye-opening thing for you guys during pregnancy? For me, it’s the sheer, unadulterated selfishness of my entire family!!!
I am seriously losing my mind today. I’m 29 weeks along, and since I've basically been on bed rest at home for most of this pregnancy, my family has decided that means I’m just "on call" for whatever they need. I’m running errands doing useless, mindless stuff like hauling around paperwork that isn't even mine, paying bills—I actually spent nearly an hour standing in line at Exelon with a stomach ache, and because I didn't look visibly pregnant yet, nobody helped until I practically collapsed right there!!—and doing daily grocery runs where I’m lugging heavy bags I definitely shouldn't be touching. Don't get me wrong, if I’m feeling okay and I’m actually up and moving, I’ll handle things, but I'm not a servant. And the irony? Their constant mantra is, "Don't overdo it, honey, just rest, don't push yourself too hard, sleep while you can because once the baby arrives, you won't get any peace." Yeah, yeah, blah blah blah... To make matters worse, this stupid spring allergy caught up with me. I haven't slept properly in three nights because I've been coughing my lungs out and dealing with a stuffed nose. So, I finally decide to lie down for a quick afternoon nap because I am absolutely wiped, and then the chaos starts. First, my parrot starts acting like a complete lunatic, screaming at its own reflection in the mirror. Then my husband sprawls out on the couch and cranks his TV show up to a deafening volume. Then my dad starts shouting from the floor above twice, demanding I come help move his car out of the driveway so he can get out. He doesn't even stop to think, "Hey, maybe she’s sleeping!!!" Then the dog starts barking hysterically at everything. I finally snap and stomp into another room, while my husband just sits there laughing at me!! Like, dude, you are part of the reason this is happening :-s... So, I finally manage to get a solid 45 minutes of sleep, but nope, it's not over. My mom starts yelling from the yard and ringing the doorbell (because of course, I didn't answer!) just to tell me they unloaded some stuff from the car "for me." I totally lost it on her—the ringing, the yelling from the stairs like we were at a busy train station... Her response? "See, this is why it's not a good idea for us to come over to your place." Um, hello?? The problem isn't that you shouldn't visit; the problem is that instead of coming up to the apartment, you’re all making a scene from the driveway and the stairs! If you had just walked upstairs, you would have seen I was sleeping, and it wouldn't have been a big deal. Meanwhile, my husband is still glued to the couch, watching some ridiculous "Food & Wine" show that has been annoying me for months :-s
The polar opposite of this mess is my sister. She only shows up when she needs something. Otherwise, her whole philosophy is that she doesn't want to visit because she feels "uncomfortable" or "doesn't want to walk into an awkward situation"—as if my husband and I are having sex at 4 in the afternoon!!! She sees I'm sleeping and decides the best way to wake me is to start tickling my feet!! WHO IS THE CRAZY ONE HERE?!?!? Okay, fine... I'll blame the pregnancy hormones if it makes it easier...
