The preseason waiting game in Fans ·
I hate this part of the summer where you're just staring at injury reports hoping for some good news. It's nerve-wracking seeing the key guys sidelined while everyone else grinds away. Do you think it's better to play it safe early on, or should they be pushing the vets to get into rhythm sooner?
The end of an era for local legends in Fans ·
It feels like every time a veteran voice we've grown up with finally decides to hang it up, the whole atmosphere of the community shifts. I really miss that sense of continuity when you knew exactly who was covering your team for decades. Do you think local journalism is losing its soul as these long-timers retire?

Anyway, I came here to vent, but after reading what Superman and Jesse Johnson15 posted, everything else just flew out of my head... I almost peed myself laughing while reading this.😂

Solid advice 🤣

I've got my mom and mother-in-law constantly getting on my nerves, telling me stuff like, "Oh, you filled out nicely, it's a good thing you did, now labor will be easier." 🤷

Back to the topic: suddenly a bunch of nosy, incredibly primitive assholes have shown up, reacting in the dumbest ways possible to the news that we're expecting another (actually our second) girl. A girl that all three of us (plus family) are beyond excited about.😍

The reactions clearly stem from the assumption that we were specifically trying for a boy, or that gender is even a priority in how we approach having kids.
We've heard it all, from: "Well, you can always have more" to: "As long as they're healthy..."—just a mountain of similar nonsense. My favorite was being told that my husband is definitely going to go wild trying for an heir now (as if there's anything he could leave behind that our girls won't, and maybe they don't realize you can keep a maiden name these days anyway)🤷

I don't know, my first instinct is purely destructive, but since arguing with idiots is pointless, I usually just stick to: "But we were REALLY rooting for a girl. We wouldn't have wanted a son at all."

That's the only language people with zero intellect actually understand.☕

I'm just saying: Oh sure, we'll go for a third, fourth, or fifth kid, right up until we finally get a son. 😁
And Harold Miller has an even better one—since he's kind of on the shorter side, he says he'll just wait until he grows enough to finally make a son. 🤣

During this pregnancy, I keep hearing these stories about how doctors told some random stranger their entire pregnancy that it was a girl, only to be shocked when a boy showed up... or the reverse where they said boy and a girl arrived.
The point of those stories is... well, guess what... that apparently, nobody knows anything for sure and it could still be a boy. 😬

I mean, I'm not actually chubby, I'm just pregnant.

And there's always someone being a "genius" with those comments about gender.
"Oh, you'd be better off if it was a girl, boys are..."
Just back off :P

Honestly, once you have a little girl, she'll bleed you dry just trying to get her dressed. She'll demand dresses, skirts, refuse a certain hairstyle, then start pulling everything out of the closet one by one until I lose my mind. Not to mention hunting down nail polish when she's barely two or three years old.
So, I guess it doesn't really matter...

I'm dealing with the exact same thing. She keeps giving me these pitying looks, acting like I should have been born a girl.

It's the same vibe with me, just getting those sad eyes, except I'm probably gonna have two girls
I honestly don't get people who act like there's this specific winning combo of a boy and a girl they need to check off 🙂
It honestly drives me nuts when people ask "how are you?" and I give them a simple "good," only for them to just go dead silent. It’s like they’re waiting for me to launch into some huge dramatic monologue about how my life is falling apart, how everything hurts, or how I can't handle anything... as if I'm just fishing for pity or something.
And then there's my mother-in-law. She's being such a pain because my oldest isn't starting daycare for another two months, and she spends every single damn day lecturing me. She keeps insisting I won't be able to handle looking after her, saying I need to "rest" constantly, and acting like being pregnant while trying to watch a kid who just wants to run around, get dressed, grab a drink of water, or hit the bathroom is some impossible feat. Like, wtf? How would she even know how I feel? If she's so worried, maybe her mom should just drop the kid off every morning and pick her up after work, so I can deal with a sleep-deprived, cranky toddler all afternoon. Honestly, thanks but no thanks ☕
To top it all off, she’s got this "brilliant" idea where she tells the little one, "Oh, once Mommy has the new baby, you'll just stay with me all day long." Yeah, right. As if that's a good thing. It’ll probably just make her feel even more rejected once the new baby actually arrives ☕
