Female sterilization: What are your thoughts? in Women's Health ·
neoncyclist792 said:Hi everyone—I was wondering if anyone here has undergone laparoscopic sterilization and could share some specifics? I’m curious about everything: the prep work, how long you typically stay at the hospital, what the post-op pain is like, and the overall recovery timeline. Since other contraceptive options aren't an option for me, and I'm certain my days of having children are behind me, I’ve been giving this method a lot of thought. Thanks in advance!

I’m in the same boat—thinking about this quite a bit myself and would love to hear any insights if anyone has them.
Honestly, those comments about belly size drive me up the wall—and they did the exact same thing during my first pregnancy. People constantly chiming in about how "huge" I am... Like, seriously? Why do you even care? It’s none of your business. Especially since back when I was pregnant the first time, my sister-in-law—who basically lives in bed and couldn't weigh 100 pounds if she tried—was constantly being compared to me. They'd tell her she didn't even look pregnant, while I had this absolutely massive bump. Then came the unsolicited medical advice, too: "Oh, you're going to go into labor early for sure." Meanwhile, I was actually dealing with a high-risk pregnancy and constant bleeding. 🙂🙂 Just get a grip!
Maria Fisher46 said:Hello there,

Polymorphonuclear leukocytes—or PMNs—are essentially just a type of inflammatory cell. For women who are sexually active, finding them in a swab within certain limits is perfectly normal.

Now, I’m certainly no gynecologist, so please don't hold me to this, but my understanding is that things usually only start looking concerning when you see 10 or more PMNs per high-power field. When those numbers spike, it might point toward an infection, or perhaps some localized irritation or tissue damage.

If I were to venture an opinion—and again, I'm far from an expert here—it looks like your count is relatively low, which could easily be considered a standard, healthy result.

Of course, we'll have to wait and see what your doctor thinks (hopefully they won't fail me on my gynecology final exam).

Best regards. 🙂

Thanks so much. I suspect the doctor will agree, especially since the report mentions "sterile" above. To be honest, I have erythriaplasia, and I believe this swab was taken right from that specific area—which deals with constant, mild inflammation—so it’s likely nothing to worry about.
We’re getting ready to welcome another little one, so I decided to go ahead and get some swabs done. Everything came back clear, except for one detail on the lab report—it lists a cervical swab—under the microbiological screening section, there's a microscopic preparation note: it shows 0-4 polymorphonuclear leukocytes per large field. My gynecologist is currently out of the office, so I was wondering if anyone could help me make sense of this? Thanks!
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
I’m looking for some solid recommendations for a good gynecologist and a dentist—ideally someone located over on the West Side of Chicago. It would be great if anyone could point me toward a reliable dentist or a gynecologist in the area near Fort Worth who is affiliated with the Democratic Party. Thanks!

If you’re still logged in after all that, then your computer is having some serious technical issues.😁 😁

I know I'm being silly, but what exactly are cookies? ;o)

I tried that, and this message pops up.

And when I finally get back to the homepage—hi, John Peterson80! Well... I guess I'll just deal with it.

I did, but it didn't seem to do the trick...

When I logged into the forum earlier, I accidentally clicked the "remember me" option—and now it automatically signs me in every single time I visit. Since I’m using my work computer, having my session stay active like this isn't exactly ideal for privacy reasons. Does anyone know how I can change this setting? Thanks!
