Sex and the City... something so incredibly pedestrian and idiotically oversimplified was never actually on TV before. That's what we should have been watching.
And let's be honest, their styling was absolutely gorgeous. 🙏
Fair point, but back then I had a roommate who thought she was the absolute height of sophistication—I think her name was Charlotte—and her side of the room was covered in pictures of babies and wedding dresses...

Let’s not even get started on Sham. 😁
And since I'm already being accused of fueling fires in another thread, I might as well mention that exactly three years ago today, Joe Strummer passed away—so to hell with it all.
Dammit, it's been so long—it feels like just yesterday we were sitting around knocking back my grandfather's old bourbon. Cheers! To Strummer!
Personally, my favorites from the Undertones are Mars bar and here Comes The Summer; though teenage Kicks has become something like my own Baby, Baby—a total overdose.
The top 5 cassette tapes my grandfather used to keep in his car 1. The Beach Boys - the track "Mother's Eye" was the absolute standout 2. White - Zlatan 4. Regional Folk Hits 5. Cher (I remember the cover art, though the album title escapes me)
edit: I had to cut Frank Sinatra from the third spot
Good grief, those damn Doors!!! My girlfriends used to be absolutely obsessed with Jim Morrison; they had all sorts of little shrines dedicated to him tucked away in their teenage bedrooms. Honestly, I think ever since then, the mere sound of a keyboard makes me want to gag.
Mr. Wrong As stated by: My top 3 overlooked US bands from '77:
3. Johnny moped 2. Eater Johnny moped 2. Eater 1. The Adverts
(Or: A list for bringing Alex Scott22 into the fold) 😁 But that’s honestly how I see it.
3. Johnny is a legend. She wasn't listening. I wouldn't say I was particularly taken with it.
Well, you certainly did it. You managed to get me hooked on Fall, and now I can't stop listening to them every single day. It’s become a constant part of my routine. Honestly, I think I'll be ready to dive into a full album playback very soon.

2. Around 9 PM, a race involving skateboards (those fake ones) and shopping carts. :
By the way, did you ever make it to that BMX cross event during the Long March? The biggest neighborhood brawl in all of Philly: Stoja versus Šijan—basically the Barakers against... well, I can't quite recall the other side.
It looks like I’ll be stuck watching Warriors Come Out and Play today.
My top 3 street skirmishes: Joe Biden vs. Franklin D. Roosevelt and the local gang 1. The summer of '89, when we were basically at war using water balloons made from freezer bags. I remember some tourist dropped a 2-liter bag of water on me from a fourth-story balcony. Pure chaos. 2. Summer of '90, when I finally went on the offensive against that same tourist. This time, I retaliated with such a barrage of makeshift projectiles that you could have filled several 2-liter bottles with the sheer volume of what I threw back. 3. Also in the summer of '90, there was this BMX race through the woods that spiraled into a massive brawl. It ended with someone getting hit in the head with a hairbrush—and let me tell you, that actually hurt.
Barbie was basically just a lab rat for my experiments—I’d drop her from skyscrapers to test terminal velocity like a little parachute, or use her as target practice for my toy guns... eventually, she ended up getting scalped with a literal scalpel. Honestly, just a pointless little toy.
On the other hand, I still have my favorite vintage toy truck used for hauling my Matchbox cars and teddy bear (both of which are about as old as I am).
