This really got under my skin during my first pregnancy, and honestly, it still does—why are you even working right now?
Anyway, my husband won't let me take any sick leave... ☕
Elizabeth Baker4 said:It’s actually hilarious to me that the security guard doesn't have the slightest clue how the metal detector he uses hundreds of times a day actually works...
😁 And "little bug" ... he said—I know you can't do anything about it, but just in case. I thought it was pretty funny seeing him get all worried.
I went through the scanner in the other building about 15 minutes earlier and everything went smoothly :-) but being pregnant, I didn't have to take everything out of my bag :-)
I was at the White House today dropping off some paperwork, and you have to go through those security scanners. Of course, being a total idiot, I just started walking straight toward one without thinking, and this young security guard had to stop me. "Whoa, hold up, don't go through the scanner," he says.
bubica clearly has more brains than I do 😍
The peach thing actually gave me a good laugh 🙂
Just mindless nitpicking. I honestly don't know how people let themselves get worked up over nothing. We don't have a pet we need to get rid of right now, but we do have two other things that people love to argue about:
1. A small apartment—as if we should just go out and buy a bigger place immediately (when our actual goal is a house)? Sure, maybe if I plan on giving birth to an elephant tomorrow, then I should start thinking about it.
2. A sports car—how am I supposed to drive a kid in that? Yeah, a car seat won't fit, so I guess I’ll just head to the Ford dealership tomorrow and grab a Fusion or something.
And seriously, why is it so hard for people to grasp that I might be okay with taking a backseat for a little while? There will definitely be moments where I lose my mind, but as if I don't have enough of those already. Why is everyone so selfish that they can't wrap their heads around that? 🤷
I was just reading through another thread about finances, which brought all my own frustrations right back to the surface.
It’s always the same brand of intimidation—people telling you how much everything is going to cost, how much less money you’ll have, how hard life is going to get, or how much sleep you're going to lose...
I honestly wonder if anyone is actually born prepared for this. I’m not claiming it’s going to be easy, nor am I saying things are cheap. But when I say I’m expecting these challenges, people act like they need to work overtime just to open my eyes for me.
The worst part is that the people lecturing me have absolutely nothing in common with my life. I don't get why they think they can predict my future when they don't even understand my present. They don't know if I'm getting three hours of sleep or nine, or if my struggle is whether I can afford a $200 stroller or a $700 one...
Just let me figure things out and find my way, just like everyone else did.
Wow, you guys are quick. Respect. 👍
Is it just me, or does it feel like summer on this forum still? I’m seeing posts timestamped at 11:00 AM and change... 😉
