The moderator is deleting posts from anyone they disagree with, yet they leave the ones they actually agree with untouched without issuing any warnings.
Shouldn't this forum be a place for objective satire?

As moderators, you bear the direct responsibility for his behavior. You fail to sanction him within the threads, yet when we finally reach our breaking point and push back, you turn around and penalize us.

Gerald Chavez7, take a look at how many times you let him slide during that discussion about college. The inevitable result is a trail of insulting messages directed at other members. Had you issued a sanction when it was appropriate, this situation would have been avoided entirely.

I filed a report, but nothing happened.

I even went as far as asking if I could just post them myself.

They probably assumed I was making it up, but looking at this subforum, it’s clear I’m not the only one dealing with messages from this user.

I am certainly not the only one who has received disrespectful private messages from Ryan Reynolds.

Will the moderators finally take action?

Once again, I am being subjected to unnecessary attacks.

Is a moderator like Elon Musk actually sending me messages claiming that I am the one countering him?

Furthermore, I will note for the record that this specific user has been sending me insulting messages.

And this instance has also gone unpunished:

Sean Reyes said:Will one of the moderators—aside from the one who just aggressively hands out bans whenever someone rightfully calls her out or when the majority of regular users agree on a point—finally take a look at this thread? It’s already three pages long.

If we want technical threads to actually function properly, it is obvious that we need new moderation. The current moderator issues bans simply because someone had the audacity to tell her the truth. I even reached out via the Democratic Party to ask her to either do her job properly or step aside, though I didn't want to make a scene. Imagine that. This entire thread is nothing but pure troll behavior and absolutely nothing has been done about it. With all due respect to the mod team, you are being ridiculous.

I have no idea where you get the authority to label me a troll.

In my previous post, I listed some of the "advice" you provided in the HVAC thread:

The moderator's actions were justified. Although, frankly, posts like yours should probably result in a warning, given how often you vanish from the discussion.

Furthermore, you sent me insulting and threatening private messages, yet you have the nerve to call me a troll.

Pathetic and laughable! 👎

It is pathetic when certain users turn a discussion thread into their own personal advertising campaign.

darktiger60 said:It’s undeniable that there have been instances of exaggeration and heavy sarcasm on this forum. Regardless, I wouldn't argue that the thread needed to be locked a second time. The first time was justified, as certain individuals clearly needed to cool off.

Regarding moderation, if it's at all possible, a thread dedicated to air conditioning units should ideally be overseen by a moderator with actual expertise in the subject matter. If that isn't feasible, then so be it, but given how much activity occurs here, the moderator ought to be someone who actively follows this specific topic.

Exaggeration?

People are out here claiming a cheap AC unit can't even cool a 170-square-foot room. Then, the moment you challenge their logic, they immediately resort to insults.

I don't really recall seeing you around this thread. You didn't manage to get a word in while the discussion was actually active because the topic was already locked, yet here you are, digging up posts from a month ago.

So? Are the posts from your "expert" colleague actually justified? And tell me, are you also out here advocating for water-cooled AC?

So now we're supposed to believe the moderator is the one at fault?

You are nothing more than a troll.

That troll you call a "professional colleague"—the one you claimed shared your expertise—has been sending me (half)threatening private messages.

Why are you even bringing up climate issues here? This discussion is supposed to be about the moderator, not whatever else you're rambling about.

The discussion regarding climate control was never actually about the AC units themselves; it was an interrogation of how certain brands are being unfairly prioritized.

This is exactly how things start. Because of trolls like this, they’re going to shut this thread down.

I do not send threatening private messages.

Sean Reyes said:I am requesting the Moderator to penalize this troll (rowdytrucker12). This is the third instance of blatant spamming and trolling this thread with completely irrelevant content intended solely to disrupt. If they were actually interested in why I asked my question, they would have inquired within the specific thread where I originally posted it.

I ask all other forum members not to defend me, as there is no need for defense nor for responding to trolling questions. Their fixation on me and their hysteria are not the subject at hand.

Once again, I request that the harassment of this thread be moderated and that the troll be strictly penalized.

You aren't the Moderator. Why should I be penalized? I haven't even been able to post in the thread because it is closed.

Sean Reyes said:Again, let us move away from personal disputes and other topics that belong in their appropriate PDFs.

The issue here is the poor moderation by our colleague. She knows absolutely nothing about technical matters (which leads to similar nonsense in technical threads—where someone plays dumb and acts like a martyr when they are actually just spamming and acting foolishly), she has no interest in the subjects mentioned, she does not participate in them, and she fails to perform her duties as a Moderator. As I stated, she shows no effort to actually moderate.

When we have a user here, such as rowdytrucker12, who intentionally provokes and trolls by posting absolute nonsense, and then that person receives a response in kind, is the solution to hand out bans and lock the thread for ten days? That is absurd.

Banning is never the answer, especially just to encourage more active discussion, and even less so is locking a thread while people are mid-discussion (which is what the Moderator does to the two threads mentioned in this post) until the topic completely dies, simply so she has less work to do.

You attack the Moderator because she "knows nothing about tech," you attack me by calling me a troll, and you attack people who state that a Vivax unit is a fine AC. On the other hand, someone here claimed you were a "professional," so I am curious to see what a true expert would have written:

I would love to see how you would implement such a system in a 540 sq ft apartment.

And yet, the Moderator is the problem?

Mark Sullivan62 said:It isn't a paradox. It is simply the standard reaction of a professional facing a pile of nonsense that wasn't addressed sooner.

Regarding the claim that "Any AC can cool 16 m2. Buying a Daikin for that job is just about prestige and wasting money," here is how a "professional" responds:

Why? Explain that a bit, specifically regarding his intentions and how he plans to use the unit. Thank you for such a professional and experienced response on your part (after all, you have been in this business for a very long time and know everything there is to know about HVAC).

So, this qualifies as professional commentary?

The comment regarding an AC for 16 m2 is accurate. That is a small space. There is no sense in purchasing a heavy-duty professional unit intended for 16 hours of daily operation.

If the Moderator actually performed their duties regarding controversial posts, this wouldn't be happening.
The offending content would have been flagged and removed promptly, users would have received warnings, and the discussion would have been steered back toward the actual subject matter.
That is what true moderation looks like.
Instead, we see this current approach, which fails to stay on-topic.

Is it not a complete paradox that the individual responsible for those problematic posts is the very person who started this thread? Shouldn't they be the first one facing sanctions?

If we examine several of the posts listed below:

Is there any actual reason to be angry at the Moderator for locking this thread?

Sean Reyes said:I am asking all sensible forum members to refrain from engaging in specific discussions regarding air conditioning units. There is a dedicated thread for that purpose, which I hope will be reinstated shortly, as its restoration is the primary objective of this topic.

What we require is a new moderator, rather than the continued incompetence displayed thus far. Please, let us focus our attention there. We can return to debating AC units—whether heatedly or otherwise—once we have competent and meaningful moderation back in place.

I appreciate everyone's support. Please ignore the trolls.

HINT: You aren't the moderator.

Only a handful of models are produced at the factory in Turkey.

And you might as well include China in that equation, just to be safe. 🤣

feralcanyon73 said:I just don't want people walking away with the wrong idea.

I am going to find an outdoor Daikin unit labeled made in Europe (Czech Republic or Belgium), take a photo, and post it here. Once I do, you and your colleague will be proven right.

feralcanyon73 said:For those who don't speak English,

Gree doesn't manufacture units for Daikin.
Having dealt with Daikin for 25 years, I would certainly know if anyone else was making them.
Daikin has manufactured for other brands in the past—for instance, GE was produced in a Daikin factory and some Panasonics were once as well.

In Europe, Daikin manufactures at plants located in the Czech Republic and Belgium.

Fine. Does that mean they also produce smaller units, like the 3.5 to 5 kW range, for smaller apartments?

Sean Reyes said:Look, man, just don't bother replying to that troll. The Moderator will handle him.

Moderator, please delete this post once you have dealt with the troll, as it is completely off-topic.

Let it erase.

But then again, the Moderator knows exactly who really deserves to be banned from this thread. It’s the individual spreading fear that an XY unit won't actually cool a 16 m2 room unless you buy into the ZX brand instead. At this point, I have to wonder: is this just a massive ego trip, or is there something more calculated going on behind the scenes?
