Now, I might come off as a know-it-all here, but let's look at the reality of the situation! When you scan a document, you’re essentially capturing a grid—rows and columns forming a matrix—where every pixel holds a specific value. If you try to strip away a section of that matrix or overlay it with another one, those overlapping parts just vanish. Once you make those changes, there's no going back unless you hit Undo. Is there really a software out there that can magically fix this perfectly? Honestly, I don't think so. You're better off sticking to the classic method you mentioned: grab some paper, a ruler, and a pen. Work it out until it looks right, and then scan the final product.

I'm trying to build a database for a travel agency, but I have no clue which tables I should set up or what kind of data needs to go into them.
If anyone can help, please do!!!

Look, you have to design the tables yourself based on which specific entities you want to track and the attributes belonging to them. There isn't a magic answer to that—nobody else can tell you how your business operates.

Larry Fox5 said:So, I've been handed two specific values here:

1) The first column shows the arrival time.
08:08:00 (Eight o'clock, eight minutes, zero seconds)

2) The second column lists the travel duration.
14:21:02 (Meaning the trip took fourteen hours, twenty-one minutes, and two seconds.

3) In the third column, I need to calculate the departure time, but I have absolutely no clue how to build the formula.

Look, if this works for you, great. If not, I know another way, though it’s a bit more of a headache:

1. In the first cell (A1), type in 8:8:0. Right-click, select format cells, then under the number tab, choose the time option and pick the 00:00:00 format. You'll need to do the exact same thing for the other two columns (B1) and (C1). Only, for the third one (C1), instead of just typing a time, enter this formula: if(A1>B1;A1-B1;B1-A1) and that should give you what you're looking for.
Terry Cook48 said:Hey everyone... sorry to bother you, but I have an urgent question...

Can someone tell me how to make this flower graphic? Or better yet, could someone just whip it up for me really fast? I just need the circle and the petals without all that existing text—I want to add my own images and text inside the segments. I need exactly 15 sections because I have 15 photos to fit in there. Thanks in advance... please, I'm in a huge rush here...

The first thing that comes to mind is AutoCAD. You might not have even heard of it, but you could knock this out in a matter of minutes using that. 😍

You could also try Microsoft Paint. Just load the image as a background, draw your lines over it, and then save it as a document file.

There are endless ways to do this if you actually take a second to think about it...

Just search for "PDF splitter" on Google. Just a heads up though—you actually need to find a decent one. A lot of those basic tools just chop everything up page by page, whereas the good ones let you pick exactly where the cut happens. And if things don't go quite as planned? You might end up needing a PDF merger to stitch specific pages back together to get what you actually wanted. By the way, isn't this the wrong place for this? This forum is strictly for Office programs, unless I'm mistaken!

I've run into a bit of a snag in Excel. Anyone available to lend a hand?

I finally sorted my problem out after digging through the Excel function library for a bit. 😂

Here’s the formula if the values are entered in column B. Is there a more convoluted way to check if a cell contains the letter "a"? `=IF(ISERROR(FIND("a";B1;1))=TRUE;0;1)` I mean, really? We’re out here building massive logic chains just to see if a single character exists in a cell. It works, sure, but why go through all that trouble? Why wrap an `ISERROR` around a `FIND` just to turn a logical error into a zero or a one? Isn't there a cleaner way to breathe life into this formula without making it look like a math textbook exploded on the screen?
I've run into a bit of a snag in Excel—any chance someone could lend me a hand?

I’m working with a column that contains a mix of numerical and text values. What I'm trying to do is have the cell return a "1" if it finds a specific letter within a cell, and a "0" if it doesn't. I tried using the FIND function, but it works fine when the letter is actually there; however, for every other cell, I just get a "#VALUE!" error instead of a zero.

Here’s what the data looks like:

a1
a2
a3
a4
123
1234
12345
123456

The result should look like this (assuming I'm searching for the letter "a"):
1
1
1
1
0
0
0
0
Hey everyone, I could use a little hand with something pretty basic tonight, assuming it's even possible within Microsoft Excel.

I'm trying to build a formula that identifies which quadrant a specific angle falls into. I attempted to tackle this using an IF statement, but clearly, I'm missing something because I just keep getting zeros everywhere...

Here’s the mess I've put together:

=if(0<angle_value<90;"Quadrant_I";"etc") => I suspect the issue lies right at the start; does the logic for 0<angle_value<90 actually work like that, or am I just being dense?
Dennis Jackson27 said:Everything turns out blurry when I save it as a PDF... I have such a tiny little problem, but it’s going to absolutely wreck my entire workflow! :S

Just search Google for "free online Google Doc to PDF converter" or "PDF to JPEG converter"—you might actually stumble upon something decent. You could also just download pdf writer, which basically acts like a virtual printer, letting you turn any Word document into a PDF directly. Honestly, if you want, you can just send me that file (shoot me a DM and I'll give you my email), and I'll convert it to a PDF on my end to see if it looks better for you!
Dennis Jackson27 said:I tried to convert it, but unfortunately, there isn't a JPEG option available. :S

Here’s something else that might help: http://pdf.my-addr.com/free-online-p...pg-convert.php => converting PDF to JPG
Dennis Jackson27 said:I tried to convert it, but unfortunately, there's no JPEG available :S

Oh, right 👎, my bad! I totally missed that. Look, just make a copy of that document first (just in case you end up losing the original), then try converting it to something else—like a PDF or whatever—and see if you can pull a JPG out of that. If that doesn't work, then honestly, there isn't much more I can do for you. Sorry!
Dennis Jackson27 said:So what am I supposed to do with that? Please help, I need to take this to the print shop, but they won't take PDFs—it has to be a JPEG.

Just upload the Word document using the "browse" button. Once it's uploaded, go to option two and pick whatever format you need (looks like you're looking for a JPG). Hit convert, and then a download link will pop up so you can grab the converted file.
Maybe this might actually be useful? http://freefileconvert.com/

Every time I try to solve this using iteration, I just get hit with an error. I honestly can't wrap my head around why—I've attached a screenshot so you can see the specifics.
Basically, I'm calculating this KF value which is also part of the formula on the right side.

Look, you probably need to start with an initial value (like 0, instead of what you've set up here) for k. If you don't, you're never going to reach a solution because you'll just end up in an infinite loop! What you've built here looks more like the second step (assuming you actually picked a starting point like k=0), but I'm not entirely sure if that's even correct given how you've programmed these formulas into Excel!
driftingangler11 said:Hey there—I might be asking something kind of silly here, but how do I save a single file to two different locations at once?

Just use Save As... 😕
Kyle Johnson2 said:If you want to handle ROUNDING digits, just use the ROUND function or one of its variations. Alternatively, you can just go through Format Cells and select Number => Decimal places set to 2 decimals.

Just a quick heads-up, these two methods are definitely not the same thing. Sure, both approaches let you round to a specific number of decimal places, but there is a massive catch: when you use the ROUND command to specify your precision (like two decimals in your case), it actually rounds the value and wipes out everything beyond that second decimal point. However, if you just use Format Cells, you're merely changing how the number looks on the screen—the underlying data keeps all those extra decimals hidden in the background. This is absolutely critical if you care about mathematical precision in your calculations. WATCH OUT FOR THAT!!!!!!
Douglas Garcia52 said:Hey guys, I'm working on my resume and cover letter in Word 2010

Will I actually be able to open these files if they're using an older version like Word 2007 or even Word 2003?

In Word 2003? Absolutely not. Unless, of course, you save them in a format from the Word 2000 era or earlier!
northerntinker8 said:Thanks, 👍. I managed to get rid of those lines by using the No Border option in the Paragraph section.

I also have a question about page numbering. Does anyone know how to make it show "Page 1 of 2" starting from the second page? Basically, I want the first page to be treated as page zero, so the second page becomes page one.
I know you can set the first page to display "0" and the second to "1," but what I actually need is for the page number to not show up at all on that first page. I hope you catch my drift.

I know how to set that up in Microsoft Word 2010. You just go to the Insert menu and select Page Numbers; a window pops up where you can tweak everything to your liking. There’s a specific section where you should uncheck the "Show number on first page" box. If you click Format within that same window, a new one opens where you can define your starting number and other settings (I've played around with it, so I won't bore you with every single detail right now)...
Amanda Doyle74 said:I run a small print shop, and I keep running into these Word docs that just refuse to print. This one today was downloaded from a government website, and the lady actually paid me $1.25 for the service...
but nothing. Absolutely nothing. She ended up losing it and flying off at me like a hurricane...
My printer works perfectly fine with everything else I throw at it.
Does anyone have an actual explanation for this?

p.s.
Just so we're clear, I can open the file on my computer and I can even copy and paste text out of it... but it still won't print...

Maybe you're running an older version of Word 🤷, maybe it was downloaded as read-only 🤷, or maybe there's some kind of security encryption on it 🤷
