And if we actually tried to start a ranking system, we’d probably snag second place—but let’s be real, we still wouldn't be able to knock Citigroup off their throne of pure stupidity...

Honestly, when I actually sit down and think about it, I have zero clue what you’re basing this whole "it behaves more normally" thing on—you know, regarding actual fundamentals or technical analysis. It just doesn't track.
Look at Yahoo, for instance:
One minute they're all like, "Yeah, let's buy Microsoft," and suddenly it hits $33, then they flip-flop and say, "Actually, scratch that," and it drops to $21, then they change their minds again and it's back up to $30... and we're talking about companies here that are worth way, way more than AT&T ever will be.
Apple is the exact same kind of rollercoaster—last year it swung from $80 all the way up to $180.

Has anyone else been hitting up Las Vegas lately by any chance?

For those of you who're too lazy to actually go look, it’s basically just betting on market indices. From what I can tell—and I've spent way too much time staring at these charts—trying to call an index movement is about as much of a sure thing as guessing the final score of a Sunday night NFL game. Good luck with that.

Anyone who pulled off a move like that back in '98 is probably sitting on a mountain of cash right now.
I’m actually running a margin loan myself to cover the funds I used for stocks, but honestly? I am nowhere near as much of an optimist as you are. Calling a 30% return a possibility is a massive stretch if you ask me—15% is way more grounded in reality. On top of that, interest rates on loans are climbing everywhere, and I wouldn't be shocked at all if they hit 10%. Once you factor in all those processing fees and extra nonsense, there's barely any profit left over.

And let’s not forget—back in the day, we saw stock market crashes exceeding 80% that took freaking 20 years to recover from. One of the biggest reasons for that disaster was exactly what we're seeing now: people pumping up stock prices with money borrowed from mortgage-backed loans. It's a recipe for disaster.
Michelle Davis15 said:Second Life is a massive waste of time. It really just highlights how much free time people have these days. Honestly, the only real value in this whole thing is using articles like this to pump up traffic numbers just so someone can eventually scam people out of a ton of cash.

Man, I am totally with you on the whole "waste of time" thing, but unfortunately, once you hit that critical mass and enough people with nothing better to do get involved, it’s game over...
I mean, look, I still hop online to play Warcraft with my buddies sometimes—and let me tell you, things get hilarious when my buddy's girlfriend starts chasing him through the woods with an axe in her hand—so I get why people see this stuff as a substitute for actually going out. But that’s exactly it. It’s *just* a substitute.
