Taylor Swift is basically the new Thompson! in Close to Politics ·

But let's wrap this up. You’re just gonna have to accept that I live by a moral code where every single killing is a crime, period. Even if it costs me my life, I couldn't kill another human being, no matter how many damn justifications there are.
If I don't have an issue with it, I don't see why you should.

The reality is these victims died because pacifists refused to defend their country. In a way, they died for you.

Carol Cook59 said:It isn't hate speech or some comparison; it's just reality. Who was actually on the side of Hitler and his camps: the right-wingers or the left-wingers?

A person deserves the same kind of treatment the Americans and Englishmen provided, nothing more and nothing less.

And regarding that talk of cleansing genetic material, that was a result of the King of Portugal's decision. After that, they don't have any issues expressing intolerance anymore. That's just a fact, not some "undesirable practice." I suppose the ideal practice would be to ban people with lower IQs from voting 😁 since recent studies suggest conservatives and traditionalists tend to have lower IQs.

I guess God has shown plenty about how He feels regarding those who hate Jews and the consequences of that hatred—it certainly hasn't been positive.

The same goes for the hatred toward Mexicans; it’s also negative. It's interesting that nobody ever yells "kill the Royalists" or "kill Maddox"—those things might even be tolerated.
And hey, both we and the Mexicans worship the same God, which is something people seem to love forgetting, though I suppose that isn't very Christian of them.

Who stood with Stalin, Marshall, Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, Castro, or Ceausescu? Certainly not the right wing. So much for your brilliant comparison.

Carol Cook59 said:I've always felt that the right-wing crowd has zero actual patriotism. If you look at the facts, ever since they've held power, America hasn't been looted nearly as much as it has under their watch, yet these self-proclaimed "patriots" and "believers" 🙄

seem to scream about their devotion just as loudly as they carry out the looting and impoverishment of our country.

That isn't the point. The fact is you've always been against an independent America. But sure, go ahead—tell us how you crushed those dreams of yours about being part of some zero-sum America.

Patrick Wright2 said:Go on then, quote one single hateful lyric or a call to arms from Thompson's songs.
Do you even listen to Thompson?
I won't give you just one, I'll give you thirty.

Because of Ann and a goblet of wine,
I'll set the frontier on fire all the way to Knoxville.
I'll burn down two or three Mexican headquarters,
so my coming wasn't for nothing.

Thompson plays, AKs and rifles roar,
Toss a grenade, drive the gang away from the spring!
One step forward, rifle ready, everyone sings the song,
For our home, brothers, for freedom, we fight.
Listen up, Mexican volunteers and Royalist gangs,
Our hand will reach you even in Mexico!
Divine justice will catch up to you, everyone knows that,
The warriors from Chavoglav will be your judges!

Those lowly cowards are attacking,
Acting like they were actually defending villages,
Rats crawling out of their holes,
Man, look how their faces pale,
Whenever our flag waves high,
Our sacred flag.

Since the time of Christ,
New faces, but the same old scene,
Evil forces are trying their best,
To make sure we don't exist,
Antichrists and Masons,
These communists, them and us,
Spreading satanic phrases,
Just to defeat us.

We'll drive them all out by force,
I'm determined to bring peace to my Homeland,
They'll run away cursing their mothers,
For ever stepping foot in our America.

If hating certain groups makes you a fanatic, then most of this country is guilty by association. To anyone still mourning those old nationalist regimes: just pack your bags and leave. Run as far as you can. It seems communists and Masons are saints in your eyes—beyond reproach. In that case, they must be the greatest criminals to ever walk the earth.

Patrick Wright2 said:But let's be real, it isn't about the music—it's all just cheap political stunts and loaded messaging, basically peddling nationalism and pure demagoguery by fueling hatred and intolerance and leaning hard into wartime agitation and antisemitism.

Funny how any mention of patriotism gets labeled as hate or intolerance by people like you. Go ahead, find me one single line in a Johnny Cash song that calls for war or targets Jewish people. You won't. It's just the same old Communist rhetoric—label everything as "hate" to destroy it. Luckily for us, those days are over, even if you still try to sell them through music.

As for him being the "most listened to"... I'm not so sure. Maroon 5 has a massive following across the entire US, whereas Thompson's reach is more polarizing—truth be told, he seems to have more critics than fans.

And you think that's a fair metric for quality? U2 is the darling of the media and the political establishment. They get endless coverage and prime-time slots on networks like CNN. Compare that to Johnny Cash, who is essentially blacklisted from major broadcasters and gets nothing but negative press.

Angela Wright3 said:Look, I’m not saying he’s a negative guy—I honestly don't care about them—but if someone else doesn't want to go, I respect that. Bruce Springsteen and Tom Waits aren't interested. But Johnny Cash said he wouldn't rule out playing a show in Mexico 😁 😁 😁 😁
So therefore Thompson is actually a decent, progressive guy spreading love, while Bruce Springsteen and Tom Waits are just spreading hate 😁

Nonsense. Where and when did Johnny Cash ever say that? Stop making things up or quoting tabloids.
