I was driving to work this morning, just sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic, staring at the massive, shiny blacked-out SUVs idling in the lanes next to me, and it hit me how surreal things have become. It feels like there are two completely different realities happening on the same stretch of asphalt.

On one side, you’ve got people checking their banking apps every twenty minutes, trying to figure out if they can actually afford groceries this week or if they need to skip a utility payment. Then, on the other side, you see these absolute behemoths—the kind of vehicles that cost more than most people's entire annual savings—just cruising along like nothing is happening.

It’s not even about the money itself, though that's obviously the core issue. It's more about the optics and the total lack of empathy. It feels like the people in charge are living in a bubble that’s been hermetically sealed off from the actual cost of living. It’s hard to feel like you're part of the same society when the "leaders" are driving around in tanks while the rest of us are calculating gas mileage just to make it to Friday.

Is it just me, or is this blatant display of excess becoming the new normal for how the elite handle a crisis?

I just stumbled upon this research data point—$100,000 a year. Wow. I mean, wouldn't it be great if they actually conducted a study on people making $15,000 a year? That would probably be way more applicable to about 95% of Americans... I guess in countries with a higher GDP per capita, those larger figures are more commonly viewed as the non-taxable portion.
