Cable TV subscription Part II in Law ·
So, I wanted to ask you all—I actually received that notice of violation at my house, blah blah. I didn't open the door for anyone, I didn't hand over any info, and I even sent them an email asking how on earth they got my full name in the first place. Basically, this individual—the inspector—is trying to tell me, under what laws exactly, that they can force this subscription on me? They're trying to bleed me dry for hundreds of dollars over this universal nonsense... just pages and pages of text with nothing clear written down, and then the final sentence says: "All requested information will be available for review during a court hearing before the competent court."
Now, what I'm wondering is, will this actually end up in court? And more importantly—since we live in such a "law-abiding" country—can I actually sue this inspector for misusing my personal data? Should I report him for accessing my private information through illegal means?
Wedding cakes and desserts in Weddings ·
I'm not quite sure which specific boutique bakery this refers to, but I really feel the need to share my recent dessert experiences. Since I'm such a huge fan of sweets, I’ve made a habit of going on solo tasting missions—people tend to give me some pretty odd looks when I show up alone, but hey, what they don't know won't hurt them. My absolute worst experience, though, was at that one boutique cake shop over in Suburban Chicago. So, my dear and I headed there—this time 🙂, you know, by appointment—hoping to sample a few things, but goodness, they were slammed. We didn't want to just stand around waiting, especially since everyone who arrived after us seemed to jump ahead in line to grab boxes of treats for home. Anyway, we ended up buying about a pound of assorted pastries, but we didn't even get the little samples people usually receive during a tasting. To make matters worse, the pastries felt like they were at least three days old—zero flavor—and the absolute kicker? The Raffaello truffles were salty! I don't know if they changed the recipe or something, but I've tried them everywhere and I have never encountered a salty Raffaello before 😕 the peach pastry—which was hard as a rock and practically hollow—and those fruit pastries that were just soggy, mushy messes. The only thing remotely decent was the Canadian cream cake (it actually holds up better with age 🤣 )
I've tried places like Lido, local candy shops, Fancy Cake, and so on, and honestly, the local candy shop wins hands down. They might be a bit pricier, but they are worth every single cent 🙂
Everywhere else was incredibly friendly; the staff was super accommodating and easy to deal with. It was just that one boutique bakery that completely let me down 😢 (and that's saying something, considering I had three different recommendations for them...😉 )
