For sure.

Honestly, I'm glad the Mexicans are out... they were a bit of an eyesore. Might as well let them stay home.

The Canadians are gunning for the Mexicans, and if I’m reading this right—assuming we take down the Romanians—we head straight for the winner. Talk about a tough draw.

My take on the game? It felt like we were trying to lose—we just couldn't quite pull it off...
Regardless, we're second in the group. We'll probably face the Zebus next, assuming they can actually manage to beat Mexico.

What kind of results are we seeing at the World Cup... 🤣 hilarious... 🍿

I bet the betting odds on all these draws are insane right now.

A regular guy like me has zero clue what the actual strength of these national teams is. Honestly, it feels like the real matches don't even start until the quarterfinals.
I honestly think the kids were playing that system > mentioned—you know, trying to dodge the Mexicans or the Canadians. Whatever the reason, seeing a blowout win like this feels damn good.

Check the Daily Journal at noon; the top story is gonna be LA Galaxy, followed by the water polo coverage. 🤦

Honestly, I’m not even much of a cookie person, but I’ve been buying them nonstop ever since some little troublemaker got me hooked on Loacker.😳 😍

Man, you really can get sucked in easy, image

The first time I saw them, I totally thought they were Austrian. The name doesn't exactly scream "Made in Italy"...
goldenbadger8 said:I wouldn't call myself a massive sweets fanatic, but if we're talking cookies, nothing beats Loacker wafers—specifically the red ones with hazelnut.

😍
Can we do any better than that?

Hey man! 👍

I was thinking about something like this since last night...
Which bank should I choose for a new account? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
So they don't necessarily have to offer installment plans. Okay, that's what I was wondering.

One more thing—from what I gather, there aren't any interest charges if I use my Mastercard, right?

For example:
Let's say something costs $1170 if you pay cash, but it’s 10% more expensive if you use a card, making it $1300. If I want to buy it using my Mastercard over 12 monthly installments, am I just paying $108 for the next 12 months? Zero interest?
Or am I totally off base here... I really hope I'm not, but honestly, the thought of hidden fees scares the hell out of me.

darkmaker94 said:That’s not even the same thing. To use a debit card—like a Maestro or Visa Electron—you actually need the cash sitting in your account, unless you have overdraft protection enabled.
The whole point of a credit card is that you're deferring payment for a month or breaking things up into installments, which you can't really do with debit (well, except for some specific options on a Bank of America debit card now). Basically, you don't need the money upfront. With a credit card, you just buy whatever you want whenever you want (and pick your own installment plan depending on the store), and then the total hits your bill at the end of the month. If you go the revolving route, you just choose your interest rate.

Plus, anyone over 18 with a standard checking or savings account can grab a debit card, whereas getting a credit card requires you to show steady income or have some cash tied up in a CD at the bank.

Can I use a Mastercard to pay in installments at pretty much any store? Like, usually up to 6 months, or whatever they offer... some places do deferred payments, others do installments?

A few theories floating around here..

First off, it seems like the main conflict for the strip is its lack of success in the States. But honestly, I don't see how a comic that basically lays bare all the grit and glamour of American society—mocking its core pillars, no less—would ever fly there. Who would even market that as entertainment? Alan Ford worked because it was anti-American back when that was actually risky. I shouldn't have to explain that logic. - edited: I'm with Ljelja drugi

Second, let's not forget that if AF succeeded here, the heavy lifting was done by Nenad Brixy. He wasn't just a translator; if you compare the Italian and American editions, he added a layer of depth to the whole vibe through sheer consistency.

Third, the closest thing to a movie I can think of is Welcome to Collingwood—even some guy from Cleveland mentioned that in an IMDb comment. But we all know it’s not quite right. Superhik isn't just an anti-hero... he's the antithesis of the American comic book landscape. He exists specifically to puncture the superhero mythos that dominates US comics. Besides, who wouldn't look at number one recently and see Greenspan, the head of the Federal Reserve? There's nothing particularly entertaining about that.

Yeah, I’m with you on that one. It definitely played a huge part in making Alan Ford such a massive hit over here.

Hell yeah!

Those Loacker wafers are also absolutely phenomenal.🙏

I totally forgot to mention that I’m also a big fan of various whole grain cookies—especially the chocolate chip ones, and that Milka variety with cookies, hazelnuts/raisins, and marzipan. Those three are basically my only go-tos; everything else from Milka is just way too sweet for me.😁

They aren't exactly phenomenal—more like... well, just okay. Flawless. 😉

I can't stand raisins... but does anyone know if there's any Milka marzipan around?
Honestly, the best Milka bar I ever had was that limited edition one from last Christmas—you know, the one with the cinnamon and some kind of plum jam filling? They pulled it from the shelves right after the holidays... such a massive letdown. Seriously, why do they always do that? 🤷
Henry Miller2 said:Everything is so tasty, but man, they always give me such bad breath afterward.😬
I’m a huge fan of dark chocolate; I usually find myself reaching for Lindt or Frey. 😍
I am absolutely obsessed with marzipan in any form—give me those Mozart Balls, the Ritter Sport marzipan bars, or even those little gold-wrapped marzipan sticks...

When it comes to ice cream, I love anything from the Orient line, especially the Pozdrav s juga flavor.🙂 For store-bought stuff, I’m all about those mixes with forest fruits, yogurt, vanilla, or chocolate...
I’m actually not a big fan of peanuts on their own, but I'll take them if they're mixed into chocolate or an ice cream like a Snickers.😁There were so many varieties I used to love that Nestlé just pulled from the shelves, so I won't even list them because thinking about it just makes me bummed out. Oh why, but why. 😢
Ice cream is pretty much my ultimate sweet treat, and when a craving really hits, I can easily polish off an entire carton by myself.😳😬

Yeah, totally... those little treats from the Orient line are actually pretty solid... 😁
Matthew Walker65 said:Chocolate, cookies, candies, cakes, pastries... tell me what your absolute favorite sweet treat is and how you feel when you're finally getting a taste of it.😁... For me, it’s a toss-up between Ferrero Rocher and a piece of Milka loaded with whole hazelnuts... mmmmmm... just imagine if a Ferrero Rocher were the size of a football... man, that would be pure indulgence.😁...

Guilty as charged. I've got a bit of a thing for sweets. 😁

Lisa Moore7, if I were you, I'd swap out the Manner for the red Loacker. Honestly, best thing I've ever had. Manner is way too sugary—those red Loacker ones are just spot on.

How much did you guys trash this thing? Personally, I’ve already accepted that it’s pretty mid, but honestly, it's still watchable... if you're looking for some "no brain" mindless entertainment. Exactly! 5/10

It deserves a decent score just because of the visual effects (S P O I L E R ! !that sequence where they're jumping from one space to another while fighting over the detonator and just the overall solid VFX before and after the jump—it was great!). The concept itself is solid, it's just a shame they didn't flesh it out more since we learn absolutely nothing about how they actually gain the ability to jump! Or anything about the villains... why? How? We're just stuck waiting for a sequel... hopefully it'll be better than this.

Also, he's a bit irritating here—and I usually love S. L. Jackson—but maybe it's just that "Storm" hairstyle...
And yeah, if I were in their shoes, I’d hit the bank first too, once I'm at least 20+ years old.😁

Look, you totally missed my point. I never said Penn doesn't nail his roles—far from it. I was just saying, more gently, that he definitely has his off nights. If you want to ignore his flaws, that's on you and everyone else who wants to look the other way, even though—personally—I think he's a damn good actor...

I don't think I misunderstood you, because you specifically wrote that his roles feel forced most of the time... you just phrased it weirdly. I can accept that. And yeah, I agree he has lapses—just like any actor does. For instance, people love De Niro and praise him—and I'm not saying he's bad—but he's got movies where his whole performance just misses the mark. Take something like 'License to Wed'—I honestly can't sit through that one, but hey, that's just my take. 😉

Look, since I’m the one who kicked this whole thing off, I guess I’m the one who has to set the record straight—even though there isn't really anything to "fix" here. It’s just that people are misreading what I said and jumping to the wrong conclusions, and honestly, that's how you end up in these ridiculous arguments... but whatever. All I actually said was that Roth is one of my favorite actors, right alongside Penn. Raymond Palmer8 That's what I'm saying.
Comparing some leftist hack to Sean Penn is honestly just plain disrespectful.

Look, I wasn't out here trying to compare anyone—I was just stating facts. And even if I had gone there? It wouldn't have been rude, not by a long shot. 🤣

I guess you could even bring up Michelle Hall9 in this conversation—though, obviously, I don't agree with her on anything.
Michelle Hall9 Personally, I think Sean Penn is pretty much a non-entity when it comes to acting. I’ve sat through more than two of his movies now—enough to form an actual opinion—and honestly? He’s way overhyped. It’s just my take, though—everyone's got their own taste—but for me, Tim Roth is easily the much better actor.

And there goes Roth again, back at it with the praise... 😂
Nicholas Chavez70 Susan Mendoza71 said:Honestly, that part in Pulp Fiction totally turned my stomach—watching those poor people get robbed by that psycho woman.

Jerry Martin19 Look, what Susan Mendoza71 is getting at is that those two actors come from completely different worlds. They’re fundamentally different beasts—you can't even put them in the same conversation. It’s like trying to compare a stand-up comedian to some heavy-hitting dramatic actor who only does prestige stuff. It just doesn't work.

Look, I see you’re being pretty reasonable here, but that example you threw out? It was a bad call. I’m gonna have to disagree—I know they aren't even in the same league of actors, but honestly, acting is either good or it sucks. It doesn't matter if you're the lead or just some guy in a supporting role; you're either nailing it or you're failing. Period.

Jerry Martin19 Sean Penn basically just forces his roles at this point—he keeps hitting the same notes over and over again.

I don't buy that for a second... If that were true, it would mean that the scuzzy lawyer from Carlito's Way and the ex-con from Mystic River—both absolute legends in my book—were just forced, cookie-cutter archetypes based on the same thing. That claim just doesn't hold water for me... unless they're leaning hard on that "mostly" qualifier. 🤣 ?

Man, this is already drifting way too far off-topic... we gotta get back to the point here. Look, Roth is killer and that's all there is to it. Period.

Ugh, such a typical British creep—I honestly couldn't stand him in Rob Roy.

Now this is how you write a review 😂 😂 😂 😉 Personally, I actually dug him—especially in Reservoir Dogs playing Reservoir Dogs as Mr. Orange. Along with Penn, he's easily one of my favorite actors.
wanderingmaker8 said:When I say "best," I’m talking about what’s most original or genuinely captivating.

The post-human world depicted in AI is actually pretty fascinating, even if the ending feels a bit forced. Children of Men earns major points for its sheer realism, whereas Blade Runner gets all the credit for its incredible aesthetic.

Honestly, those futuristic cities packed with endless skyscrapers have become such a tired cliché. Fritz Lang did it first, and he did it best in New York City.

It might not be the most original thing ever, but man, did it nail the future back in 1958—Tati's 'Mon Oncle'.
