I was reading some news earlier about the recent tension in Eastern Europe, and it really got me thinking about how fragile peace feels lately. It’s one thing to watch stuff happening on a screen, but it’s another thing entirely to live in a place where the air feels heavy because you never know if the horizon is actually safe.

I have a buddy who lives a few hours from a major geopolitical flashpoint, and he told me that even when things are quiet, there's this underlying sense of waiting for the other shoe to drop. It’s not even paranoia, really; it’s just a heightened awareness of how quickly a single mistake or a stray piece of hardware can change everything for a local community. It makes you realize how much we take for granted in more "stable" parts of the world.

Does anyone else feel like the sense of global security is just a thin veneer lately, or am I just being overly cynical about the state of the world?
Starting a small business in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
Look, I don’t want to sound like a complete amateur here, but it’s much easier when someone actually "in the loop" offers some guidance. My sister—who is finishing up her degree part-time—is planning to launch a small cafe concept by next summer at a beachside location. Think crepes, fresh juices, pastries, maybe some sandwiches—just a basic starter setup. That’s the gist of it. No point in overcomplicating things right out of the gate.

We own a vacation property near the coast that would be perfect for this venture, but it’s going to require a significant capital injection to get it up to code.

So, I’m looking for some insight: where can we secure a small business loan with the most reasonable terms? I’m also aware that there might be options through Medicare or other federal programs for self-employment grants.

In short, I need a roadmap—some direction on the best way to move forward. Specifically, any ideas on where to source funding under the most favorable conditions.

Thanks.
If I'm sending a package to someone in San Francisco, do I actually get a box at the post office, or am I expected to pack everything up myself at home before heading over there?

Exactly... Honestly, I'm already sick of this fake democracy and this forced spreading of "love"—when, in reality, they'd love nothing more than to silence anyone who dares to disagree with them. Just take that image down already!

The sheer hypocrisy and lack of objectivity here is staggering. This is nothing more than a blatant provocation—a direct insult to believers and Catholics alike. I am not the one spreading intolerance; rather, it is you who insist on this narrow-minded, singular worldview whenever certain topics arise. All I am asking is that you remove the rainbow-colored cross. If you want to post adult content, go ahead—I truly don't care—but this specific imagery is an affront.

ps. Where are the admins? If this image isn't taken down, it will serve as the ultimate proof that this platform is peddling hardline fascism under the guise of democracy.

Claims regarding this—this "affliction"—really should be penalized.
(If not for any other reason, then strictly for the sake of the forum rules.)

I’m heading out before I rack up 10 points for off-topic posting. 😁

By the way, the avatar is great. People should just love one another.

Look, I don't have an issue with an avatar that supports homosexuality, but I do have an issue with a cross depicted in rainbow colors—which, frankly, should qualify as trolling, provocation, or even outright offense. People can show love without being disrespectful to others... I'm not demanding a strike or a ban, but the user really ought to change their avatar.
ps. It seems unlikely that anyone in a position of authority will respond to this complaint; however, if someone were to post a warning about a potential troll, those warnings would arrive in seconds. The main thing is that the individual in question continues to be offensive.

I apologize if I came across as rude—that wasn't my intention—but I’ve already had an identical complaint closed for reasons that remain entirely unclear. Frankly, the level of authoritarianism being practiced here is infuriating. People are getting banned from this forum for far less than what some of these moderators are sporting in their own profile pictures.

What do you mean, "gutter-style"? Now Matthew Anderson is acting just as delusional as you are—we aren't discussing my conversational style here, we are discussing the offensive avatar used by one of the moderators. What exactly is being done about that?

What picture are you talking about? Are you blind?

I am requesting the removal of an image that is offensive... If someone can be banned for claiming that homosexuality is a disease or a disorder, then the person responsible for that image should also face a ban for what they are posting.

David Vaughn75 said:Look, science hasn't pinned down a single definitive cause for schizophrenia yet, but we do know that certain triggers—like drug use—can definitely crank up the odds of it manifesting. Think of it like this: a virus causes a cold, sure, but if your immune system is totally trashed, you're way more likely to catch it. Some people smoke weed or hit the clubs for decades and stay perfectly fine, which tells you there’s gotta be a genetic component at play too. But personally? I’ve always had this theory that I ended up with my own diagnosis because I smoked way too much weed back in the day.

So, what you're saying is you think you might have dodged the diagnosis if you hadn't smoked? Out of curiosity, how old were you when they actually gave you the diagnosis?
Schizophrenia - General Discussion in Psychology & Therapy ·
Greetings, everyone. It is truly a privilege that the internet exists today—allowing people facing various struggles to offer one another genuine support. I have a relative dealing with schizophrenia, and it’s been suggested that his condition was triggered by drug use—I am assuming something synthetic, perhaps ecstasy or some other "party" drug. I am curious if anyone else here has experienced something similar? Has anyone else dealt with a situation where a specific experience seemed to trigger a sudden mental storm? Specifically, do you believe he might have navigated life without schizophrenia had the drugs never entered the picture?
