I was watching some old match highlights last night and it got me thinking about how much the mentality around squad depth has shifted. It feels like every major club is now obsessed with finding the next teenage phenom or a high-priced superstar to sit on the bench, rather than valuing the steady, experienced hands who just show up and do their job when things go sideways.

There’s a certain art to being the reliable veteran. You aren't there to grab the headlines or demand a massive weekly wage; you're there to provide stability and mentor the younger guys. But lately, it seems like clubs are more interested in "potential" and "resale value" than actual, proven reliability. It feels like a gamble to go for someone who has seen it all when you can just buy a 19-year-old and hope for the best.

Do you think teams are overvaluing youth at the expense of having a solid, dependable veteran in the room, or is the "high-ceiling" gamble just the way the game works now?

It’s been ages since I actually sat in a movie theater—unless you count those special screenings or repertory houses. But I do remember one time, out of pure boredom during a sweltering summer, we wandered into a theater in our quiet little town (though without all the dusty tumbleweeds you see in Westerns). Can't recall the title, but I remember the lead was that actress from that show about the group of old ladies (wasn't that helpful? 😁 You know, the one with the three elderly roommates... the title is slipping my mind...) and there were these massive Alligators involved. It was incredibly stupid, though not quite bad enough to qualify as "good" trash. Still, there were a few trashy moments. My personal favorite part: at the end, they catch one of the Alligators, but the writer was apparently so disorganized he left enough plot holes open for a sequel involving tiny baby Alligators... as if anyone would ever want to sit through a sequel to THAT. Jeez.

The movie is called, get this, "Alligator"—I actually own a copy, believe it or not.
And "Alligator II."
And yeah, I’m deeply ashamed of that.

But those three women from Miami are legendary.

Can you break down what a sole proprietor actually is?
Is it a legal entity or just an individual? And can they handle importing goods and selling them to other companies
here in the US?
